Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $800 Countess Whiskerella of Floofington   2–3 years old | 25 lbs | Frenchie-Pekinese Mix | Ice-blue eyes | Personality as big as her name   All hail Countess Whiskerella of Floofington — a royal blend of stubborn charm, comedic floof, and ice-blue elegance. Rescued from a shelter, Whiskerella has left her mysterious past behind and fully embraced her new identity as a noble lady of leisure and opinion. Her floofy coat, hilariously expressive face, and piercing blue eyes make her a showstopper wherever she goes.   A Day in the Life of Royalty Whiskerella begins her day at 7 am, though she’s no fan of early mornings. After a short “please hurry” walk, she insists on returning indoors for her first meal—she’s got standards, after all. During the day, she lounges like the dignitary she is, often nearby her human, playing gently with rustling toys or napping on the floor (the Countess has rejected all soft beds in favor of a humble blanket by her human's bedside).   Evening is when she shines. Around 8 pm, she’s ready for her grand promenade, where she showcases her excellent leash manners— unless, of course, you dare suggest a route she disapproves of. Then, she will sit or flop dramatically until you change course.   Personality Fit for a Palace When Whiskerella first arrived at her foster home, she was all drama: non-stop panting, bouncing off the walls, and launching her cone-crowned head into every shin and lap. But after a few long walks (royal strolls, if you will), her true personality began to emerge— relaxed, affectionate, and wonderfully quirky. She became a calm and curious companion, a true lady... with opinions.   She is loyal, intelligent, and sometimes a bit stubborn. She understands basic obedience and is working on “sit and wait” before going out, but be warned: she remembers everything. If you leave her behind, she might just hold a grudge.   Affectionate... with Boundaries Whiskerella loves affection and will happily curl up with you on the couch— if invited. However, she interprets a single invitation as a full-time promotion, so boundaries must be enforced or she’ll try to rule your entire lap and life. She thrives with structure, routine, and gentle but consistent leadership. When petted on the chest or behind the ears, she lights up with joy. It's one of the purest rewards you'll ever witness.   Family Life & Social Skills She’s incredibly tolerant with children and doesn’t mind if little hands explore her face, paws, or ears. That said, she still jumps when excited and could knock over small children She’s indifferent to other dogs on walks and hasn’t shown much interest in dog-to-dog interaction so far.   Quirks & Challenges Whiskerella is mostly housetrained, though she has had a few accidents tied to changes in routine or emotional protest. She's still adjusting and would benefit from a patient adopter who can offer her consistency and continue supporting her training. She’s not a chewer, digger, or barker—just a determined diva with a quiet, expressive stare that will melt your heart and test your resolve.   Countess Whiskerella may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but for the right person, she is a treasure. Regal, ridiculous, and utterly endearing— she’s looking for a forever throne (er, home) to call her own.   Interested in hosting a Countess, for life? Get ready for floof, sass, and a whole lot of love.                  May 15, 2025, 5:12 pm

Story
This funny mug belongs to Squashy Nice! We call her Squash, Squish, Squoosh, Smoosh, Shorty McSnorty, Speed Bump, or Buzzsaw ;) There’s probably more. How much time do you have? Squash is a petite Frenchie pup who had the misfortune to be used by a breeder, but when her basic medical needs started to put a dent in the profits, they abandoned her. She was found roaming the streets with such bad ear infections that the shelter thought she needed to have her ear canals closed permanently. Thankfully, after they saved her from moving vehicles, the shelter staff were able to start healing her ears with meds. Lucky girl! Because she can definitely hear! We finished the treatments with our awesome rescue vet, and now her ears look great and she's ready to find a responsible, loving family of her own! Squoosh was probably born around February 2023. She's not even two yet and has already been a mom, possibly more than once. She was emaciated when we first got her but looks great now at 22ish pounds – and it’s crucial for her health and joints that she doesn’t become overweight. She's a roly-poly little girl, not built like a greyhound at all :-) In fact, she's a lot like a potbelly pig, and she snorts enough to give the pigs a run for their money! She has the energy of an area rug, with an occasional zoomie thrown in ;) She was rather unruly, in the way of most adolescents, when she first walked through the door to her foster home, but she’s been working hard on her manners ever since! Her foster fam is so impressed with how much she has learned and how greatly her manners have improved. We know it's a lot for a lost little shelter dog to wrap their head around so quickly, and we’re really quite proud of her! And so, we are looking for pet parents who understand leadership and appreciate little puppies with lovely manners. We want to see Squash in a home with folks who will continue to reinforce her impressive behavior! Frenchies aren’t typically known for being polite and respectful, so we're excited to have the best mannered Frenchie on the planet in our rescue! She's a smart little gremlin and treat motivated too. You can't ask for much more than that. Squishy's forever family will have older children if any, and a peaceful, low energy environment preferably with a mellow companion dog. A fenced yard is required, doesn't have to be a big one. Stairs are difficult though, so a place without too many is best. She gets along with everyone she meets - although like most little dogs and like so many French bulls, she can be barky when she sees new people or dogs, but she'll turn it off if you ask her to! Her favorite hobbies include trying to steal the big dogs’ beds, taking naps, snuggling, farting (sometimes while napping/snuggling), eating, and laying in the middle of the floor in the best location to trip you up. Equally important, Squash's future family should fully understand the extra expenses that come with having a brachycephalic dog. These guys have been bred to look a certain way for human pleasure alone, but in doing so we've created a number of inherent health concerns. Many Frenchies need airway surgery so they can breathe easier - it's not cheap. Heat stroke is also a major concern when your face is smooshed back into your skull. A lot of bulldog types deal with skin issues and/or allergies (which a raw food diet can really help). Too many Frenchies are also afflicted with spinal issues, sometimes resulting in rear end paralysis. We’re looking for parents who are not afraid of the vet (and the cost), and who will be extra careful with her activity so she has less risk of spinal injury and IVDD. She already has a hitch in her step so she should take it easy, not be overly rambunctious, and absolutely no jumping on and off furniture. All this might seem like a tall ask, but if you want a fancy breeder dog, you’ve gotta accept all that comes with it. Frenchies are not the dog for everyone, but if you’re ready, hit us up! She’s a hoot and will keep you in stitches all day long. Even if she’s fast asleep! adoptions@waggingdog.org ~ Adoptions within Southern California only please ~ http://waggingdog.org/April 2, 2025, 12:20 pm

Meet Danni! She is the sweetest 15 month old Pug you can ever want. Super sweet with all her humans, other dogs, cats and even giant McCaws 💕 She is fully potty and crate trained. She is learning how to walk on a leash. She spent most of her first year in a kennel so she really just wants someone to love on her. She is eager to please, super fast learner, loves her toys and has a blast running around with her foster siblings. She knows sit and shake. She is highly treat motivated but not aggressive with food. She is already the perfect fit for any home. She is a pug, so her breathing is loud and adorable. Story
How this pet arrived: Radiohead was brought in by a community member on March, 9, 2025. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Radiohead, the ultimate pup with a heart as big as his love for fetch! This excitable, wiggly boy is all about fun-whether he's zooming after a tennis ball, showing off his impressive high jumps, or soaking up all the pets and attention he can get. He's a total lovebug who would happily spend his days as your personal lapdog. He's incredibly treat-motivated, making training a breeze (especially if snacks are involved). Radiohead was found wandering a baseball field with his canine pal, and now he's ready to hit a home run with his new family. He does have spinal spondylosis, which can cause stiffness as he ages, so his adopter should work with their vet to keep him feeling his best. If you have children, Radiohead would do best in a home with older kids who can match his energy and appreciate his rockstar personality. If you're looking for an athletic, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining companion, fill out the interest form above-he's ready to be your biggest fan! Primary Color: Brindle Secondary Color: White Weight: 29.8 Age: 5yrs 2mths 1wks
