Story
Hey there! My name is Poppi, and if you are looking for a loyal, loving, and slightly oversized cuddle bug, I might just be the perfect pup for you! At just over a year old, I have grown into a strong, playful, 80-pound German Shepherd mix with a heart as big as my paws. I have been living at Central Arizona Animal Rescue for most of my life, and while I love the people here, I can not help but dream about the day I finally find my own forever family. Here is my story: Once upon a time, I had brothers and sisters. We were rescued together, and I thought we would always be a team. But one by one, they found their families, got adopted, and went off to live their happily-ever-afters. I wagged my tail as I watched each of them go, waiting for my turn. And I have been waiting ever since. Now, I am the last of my litter, still searching for the right home where I can love, play, and thrive. Could it be with you? Here is why you will love me! I am a certified leaner – When you pet me, I will press my whole body against you like I am trying to absorb all the love I can. You will never pet me without feeling my full weight of affection! I have a short coat so that means less shedding – No fur-covered couches here, well,  maybe a little fur, but not much! My sleek coat means you can cuddle me without worrying about wearing me like a sweater.   I will be your playtime champion – I love to splash in water, roll in the mud, and zoom around like I am on a mission. If you want a pup who will bring energy and joy into your life, I am your guy! I am ready to go! – I am neutered, fully vaccinated, and microchipped—all set to start my new adventure with you! I will be loyal to the core – If you choose me, I will be your forever companion, always by your side, always ready for whatever fun life brings. I may be a little too big for tiny humans—not because I don’t love them, but because I do not always know my own size! I might accidentally knock over little ones in my excitement, so I would do best in a home where my new family understands my big-dog energy. I also love other dogs, and I would be thrilled to have a furry friend to play with. I have always had a big dog for a companion and like to play rough so I might not do too well if they are too small, another shepherd would be perfect. Whether I am your one-and-only or joining a pack, I promise to bring laughter, fun, and unconditional love to your home! I have only seen cats from a distance, and they always run when I bark at them which is awesome! I might need a little extra work if I need to live with them. I have never lived inside a house so that will be a new thing for me, I will certainly need some help with that thing called house-training, but I am a quick learner so you just gotta show me the ropes and be patient. If you have another dog I will probably just follow along with what they are doing. I’ve been waiting for my turn to find a family, and I just know there’s someone out there who’s looking for a dog like me. If that’s you, please do not wait any longer! Email mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment to meet me. Story
This is Bruno, he is a very good boy with a fun personality. He is house trained, kennel trained and knows basic commands. He has always had a fairly defensive personality. He is not a fan of anyone outside of his family and with us having little ones in the home we worry about his behavior with them. We are confident he will be a good boy to anyone willing to love him as we have. This is a tough choice for our family but we know it’s the right one. He is a beautiful dog and a loyal companion. Hoping to find someone with a little experience with dogs to give him a purpose.

Story
Gilly is finally ready for her new home! She is a little strong willed but she is very smart. She was picked up as a stray so we don't have any background information on her. She is probably around 3 to 4 years old. She likes to be the boss of the other dogs so she would do best if we found her a home where she is the only dog or with a submissive male. She has been very playful with the boys we have had her with but rough so she might be too much for smaller dogs. She would do best with an owner who has experience with big dogs and some training. Story
Hi there! My name is Abram, and I’m a 1 ½&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old Malinois mix with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging. I’ve been on quite the journey already, and now I’m ready to tell you my story in hopes that you might be the one to give me my forever home. My Journey So Far Back in April 2025, I found myself at the Yuma Humane Society. I was just a young pup then, full of energy and hope. I waited day after day, month after month, for someone to notice me. I tried my best to be cheerful, wagging my tail at every visitor, but somehow I kept being overlooked. Seven months went by, and I became one of the longest residents there. Things weren’t looking good, but I never gave up hope. Then, in November 2025, my luck changed! I got a ride to Central Arizona Animal Rescue, and wow—what a difference. Suddenly, I had new friends, new caretakers, and even a girlfriend! Yep, I share my kennel with a sweet pup, and we play all the time. Life feels brighter now, but I know the best part of my story hasn’t happened yet: finding my forever family. What You Should Know About Me I’m current on all my vaccinations, so I’m healthy and ready to go. I’ve been microchipped, so you’ll never lose track of me. I’ve been neutered, which means I’m all set for a responsible future. I absolutely love people—meeting new friends makes me so excited that I sometimes wiggle all over! I’m not sure how I feel about cats (I don’t even know if I’ve ever met one), so that’s a mystery we’ll have to solve together. I don’t know if I’ve ever lived in a house before, so I’ll probably need a little training in that department. But hey, I’m smart and eager to learn! I could use a refresher on my leash manners. I just get so thrilled to be outside that I sometimes forget to walk politely. With patience and practice, I’ll get the hang of it. What I’m Looking For Honestly, I don’t need much. A few toys to chew on, a comfy spot to sleep, and—most importantly—a family that loves me. That’s all I want. I dream of running around in a yard, cuddling on the couch, and being part of your everyday life. I want to be the dog who greets you at the door, who makes you laugh with my goofy antics, and who comforts you when you’ve had a tough day. I may have had a rough start, but I believe my future is bright. Every wag of my tail, every sparkle in my eyes, is me saying: “I’m ready for you. Are you ready for me?” Why You Should Choose Me There are lots of dogs out there, but I promise I’m special. I’ve already proven that I’m resilient, patient, and full of love. I waited seven months at the shelter without losing hope, and now I’m thriving at Central Arizona Animal Rescue. Imagine what I could do with a family of my own! I’ll be loyal, playful, and endlessly grateful. I’ll make you laugh when I zoom around the yard, and I’ll melt your heart when I curl up beside you. I’ll be your adventure buddy, your cuddle partner, and your best friend. How to Meet Me If you think we might be a match, I’d love to meet you! Please email mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment. Come spend some time with me—you’ll see how much joy I can bring into your life. My Promise I may be just a dog, but I promise to give you something priceless: unconditional love. I’ll be there for you every single day, through good times and bad. All I ask in return is a chance—a chance to be part of your family, to be your forever friend. So, what do you say? Let’s start our story together. I’m Abram, and I’m waiting for you.   PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. He’s great with kids who understand and respect his personal space, and he’ll reward them with endless love and affection. Stitch has been making awesome progress with leash walking, so he’s ready to hit the pavement for some outdoor adventures. Story
Hi, I’m Grover, a friendly and fun-loving Malinois mix boy who is looking for a new home. I don’t remember much about my past, but I know I was a stray in Yuma, Arizona until some nice people from animal control found me and took me to a shelter. There, I met some other dogs and humans who were very kind to me. They even arranged for me to get a ride to Phoenix, where I am now staying with the Central Arizona Animal Rescue. They are taking good care of me, but I really want to find a family who will love me forever. I am a neutered male, about 1 year old, and I have been vaccinated and microchippedI love playing with toys, especially squeaky ones, and I enjoy running around and having fun. I have lots of energy to burn off! I am very friendly and get along well with people and other dogs. I am not aggressive or possessive, and I don’t bark too much. I am also very smart and eager to learn new things. I am working on my leash skills and manners, but I need some more practice and guidance. I am looking for a home where I can be part of the family and get lots of love and attention. I would love to have a yard where I can run and play, or at least go for regular walks. I would also like to have some toys to keep me entertained and happy. I don’t mind if you have other pets, as long as they are friendly too. I just want to be your loyal companion and best friend.
