Story
Gilly is finally ready for her new home! She is a little strong willed but she is very smart. She was picked up as a stray so we don't have any background information on her. She is probably around 3 to 4 years old. She likes to be the boss of the other dogs so she would do best if we found her a home where she is the only dog or with a submissive male. She has been very playful with the boys we have had her with but rough so she might be too much for smaller dogs. She would do best with an owner who has experience with big dogs and some training. PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Story
Hey there, it’s me, Rowan! I’m the 4-year-old German Shepherd with the endearing floppy ear, and I’m broadcasting a special message just for you. I’m currently hanging out at Central Arizona Animal Rescue, eagerly awaiting the day I can trot into my new forever home. I’ve had quite the journey, found as a stray with my pal Chief, and after a long wait at animal control, it seems my previous owners are not coming back. But that’s alright because it means I get the chance to meet you! I’m super friendly, love a good game, and when it comes to treats, I’m trying to gentle but treats are awesome and I get excited for them. My floppy ear? It’s not just for show; it’s a symbol of my unique personality and the stories I can’t wait to share with you. I’ve been given a clean bill of health, with all my vaccinations up to date, I’m neutered, and I’ve got a microchip so I’ll never get lost again. I’m on the lookout for a family that enjoys fun and games as much as I do. And if you’ve got a spare spot on the couch, I’d love to fill it with my cozy presence. So, if you’re ready for a loyal friend with a touch of whimsy, let’s meet! You can e-mail Central Arizona Animal Rescue at mike@CAARonline.org to set up an appointment. If you are unable to adopt me, please share my video to help me find my forever home. I can’t wait to meet you! Story
Rita , our loyal companion, has been with us for quite some time. Now, we believe she is finally prepared to embark on the journey of finding her forever home. Rita arrived alongside a male German Shepherd, to whom she was deeply bonded. Fortunately, he quickly found his own loving family. For Rita, however, the transition was more challenging. It took her a while to discover her own identity and become comfortable without her companion. But that wasn’t the only obstacle she faced. When Rita first came to us, she was alarmingly thin. Initially, we suspected that her friend might have been consuming all her food, leaving her hungry. As a result, we decided to separate them. Despite receiving adequate nourishment, Rita continued to struggle with weight gain and lacked enthusiasm for eating. In our pursuit of answers, we tested Rita for Valley Fever—a common ailment with symptoms including weight loss and loss of appetite. The test results returned weakly positive, prompting us to begin treatment. Typically, within a couple of weeks, there is a noticeable improvement in appetite and weight gain. However, Rita’s progress remained slow. Undeterred, we conducted a DNA test to explore whether she had any food sensitivities. The results revealed that we had unknowingly been feeding her the worst combination of foods. Adjusting her diet to one that she tolerates well has significantly improved her appetite, and she is finally putting on some weight. Remarkably, the recommended food is both common and affordable, already stocked in our pantry. Now, we are actively seeking a new family for Rita. While she continues to build confidence, time and trust will be her allies. She’s learning to walk on a leash, although passing cars still make her nervous during walks. When fear strikes, she tends to pancake—flattening herself to the ground. Rita’s journey toward a loving forever home is filled with hope and promise. Story
Hello! My name is Lucy, and I'm sending you lots of tail wags and puppy kisses from Central Arizona Animal Rescue. Not too long ago, I was wandering the streets of Yuma with a belly full of hope – and puppies! Life sure was unpredictable, but then I was given a second chance by some wonderful folks who helped me come here. On my journey from Yuma to the rescue, I couldn’t wait to be a mom so I started to have puppies on the road. When I finished, I had became a proud mama to eight adorable furballs. Raising them has been my greatest adventure yet! Now that my puppies have found their own families, I dream of a forever home where I can be loved and cherished. I'm a sociable gal who enjoys the company of big dogs – I share my kennel with a handsome shepherd, and we're the best of roommates. I haven't had much experience with small dogs or cats, but I'm willing to learn if you'll guide me. I am not sure about housetraining, I probably am but I have been staying in the kennels with my babies so I haven’t had a chance to prove it yet. I love meeting new people and get so excited when I see other dogs through the fence – there's just something about making friends that makes my tail wag non-stop! I've been spayed, so the days of motherhood are behind me, and I'm all ready to be your loyal companion. I'm also vaccinated and microchipped, which means I'll always find my way back to you, no matter what. If you're looking for a furry friend who's great with people and full of love, look no further. I promise to fill your days with joy and your heart with unconditional love. Let's create a lifetime of memories together! Ready to meet me? E-mail us at mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment to meet me at Central Arizona Animal Rescue and let's start our journey together! Story
Hi My name is Poppy, and I'm a German Shepherd mix puppy, about 4 months old and I have a heart full of love and a spirit ready to soar. I may have had a rough start in life, but I'm looking forward to a bright future with a family who will cherish me forever. I was rescued from a difficult situation along with my brother and sister, and we were all brought to animal control because it was safer for us there. The nice people at the animal control arranged for us to go to Central Arizona Animal Rescue. The kind folks here have taken great care of me. I've been neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, so I'm all set and ready to join my new family. Despite my rough past, I'm a bundle of joy and energy. I love to play, explore, and cuddle. My favorite activities include playing in the water and making mud puddles, learning new tricks, and snuggling up for a nap after a fun-filled day. I'm eager to please and quick to learn, so I'll be a great companion for someone who enjoys training and spending time with their furry friend. I'm looking for a loving home where I can feel safe and cherished. I promise to fill your days with laughter, love, and loyalty. If you have other pets, that's great! I get along well with other dogs and would love to have a playmate. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will grow up to be a strong and loving protector, I'm your boy. I'm currently staying at Central Arizona Animal Rescue, waiting for my forever family to find me. If you think we could be a perfect match, please email mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment to meet me. I can't wait to meet you and start our new adventure together! Story
Hi, I’m Dior, the cutest German Shepherd mix puppy you’ll ever meet! I was rescued by the amazing folks at Central Arizona Animal Rescue after my previous owner left me and my seven “littermates” at a noisy scary pound. It was a rough start, but thanks to the loving care here, I am now ready to find my forever home! A little about me for your consideration! I am about 3-4 months old (still just a baby!). I am a German Shepherd mix (with a heart full of love). I am healthy. I was spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and treated for parasites. I am a little shy at first because I was not loved by my previous owner, but I am playful, loving, and great with other pups. When I first arrived at Central Arizona Animal Rescue, I was in pretty rough shape. I was underweight, dirty, and with a wormy belly. But the kind humans here gave me medicated baths, treated me for parasites, and made sure I got all my vaccinations. Now, I’m healthy, happy, and ready to start a new chapter in my life! I’m looking for a loving family who will teach me all the new tricks and everything I need to know to be a part of their family. I’m starting from scratch with house training, but I’m eager to learn! I love to wrestle and play with my puppy friends, and I’m young enough to get along with cats, even though I’ve never met one. Here is why You’ll Love Me: I’m full of energy and love to play! I’m great with other dogs and will be a wonderful companion. I’m ready to learn and grow with you. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving, and playful addition to your family, I’m your girl! Come meet me at Central Arizona Animal Rescue. To set up an appointment to meet me just e-mail mike@caaronline.org. Story
Hi there! I'm Axel, born 12/18/2020, and a purebred handsome German Shepherd. I'm fully vaccinated, neutered, and microchipped. I'm fantastic with little dogs and kids, but as for cats, I just ignore them. I adore going for walks and I'm excellent on the leash, and I'm even good at walking alongside another dog. I successfully use the doggie door and I'm well-behaved when left alone in the house during the day. Although while I’m still getting to know you, i shouldn't be alone in backyard, or ill go looking for you. Just until I know you will always come back for me. Car rides are a favorite of mine, and I'm well-behaved at the groomers, though I'm not a fan of the dryer they use. But, I love to cuddle once I've warmed up to you. Only quirk is that I have a tendency to wander off if given the chance. I've got a bit of a squirrel brain you could say but overall, I'm a very good boy and I'm eager to meet my new forever family! Oh, and mom says I need a tall fenced in yard 🤷‍♀️ If I sound like the pup for you, fill out the form below to get started ⬇️⬇️ https://forms.gle/7dTuG94nZKd839c2A

I have had the dogs for four months. They are fun, loving dogs, but unfortunately, I’m an older man and they are far too much for me to handle. They are very loving and they need room to play. I am living in a senior community and it’s just not fair to these beautiful dogs to be confined in a small area such as where I live. Free to anyone who is willing to care for them love them and enjoy them. There are two of them you can take one or you can take both. I’d like to find a home as soon as possible for them.

Story
I got Rosie from a shelter up in Michigan 4 years ago. She is just over 7 years old. She is very energetic and has an anxiety problem. I used to live with another person and in a house, and it made it a lot easier to take care of her with the space to do so. I now live in a smaller apartment and I work a lot of hours, and she isn't getting the care she needs or deserves. She is a very good dog, but does struggle with anxiety, which results in a lot of whining and separation issues. She is not destructive and is housetrained. She is shy around people at first, but once she settles in, she will be another part of the family. She is good with dogs and kids with SLOW introductions. She would prefer older children, as she is not a fan of being chased by small children. Her anxiety causes her to flee often, but she has never been aggressive to humans or animals. She does really well with cats and is mostly uninterested in them.

These pups are in Queen Creek, Arizona too!

I don’t remember much about my past, but I know I was a stray in Yuma, Arizona until some nice people from animal control found me and took me to a shelter. There, I met some other dogs and humans who were very kind to me. They even arranged for me to get a ride to Phoenix, where I am now staying with the Central Arizona Animal Rescue. They are taking good care of me, but I really want to find a family who will love me forever. I am a neutered male, about 1 year old, and I have been vaccinated and microchippedI love playing with toys, especially squeaky ones, and I enjoy running around and having fun. I have lots of energy to burn off! I am very friendly and get along well with people and other dogs. I am not aggressive or possessive, and I don’t bark too much. I am also very smart and eager to learn new things. I am working on my leash skills and manners, but I need some more practice and guidance. I am looking for a home where I can be part of the family and get lots of love and attention. I would love to have a yard where I can run and play, or at least go for regular walks. I would also like to have some toys to keep me entertained and happy. I don’t mind if you have other pets, as long as they are friendly too. I just want to be your loyal companion and best friend. Story
Woof! Hello, Humans! I’m Lakota, the Malinois with a heart as big as the sky. Age: 8 years (which, in dog years, means I’ve seen my fair share of sunrises and moonlit nights). Breed: Malinois (pronounced “mal-in-wah,” but you can just call me “Lakota”). Energy Level: Picture a lightning bolt wrapped in fur. Yep, that’s me! I’ve got more energy than a squirrel on a double espresso. But guess what? I’m ready to dial it down a notch. Life’s too short to be a perpetual whirlwind. My Kennel Days: Ah, the familiar scent of concrete and the sound of neighboring barks. That’s been my world—the kennel life. But now, I’m dreaming of soft couches, sunbeams streaming through windows, and maybe even a cozy fireplace. A regular home—that’s my new frontier. Social Scene: I’ve shared my space with some burly male Malinois. Bros before bows, you know? But ladies? Well, let’s just say I prefer a testosterone-heavy environment. No drama, just tail wags and camaraderie. Battle Scar: Remember that time I tangled with a dog who thought my ear was a chew toy? Yeah, it cost me an ear, but I wear it like a badge of honor. Stitched up, healed, and ready to rock. My left ear is my conversation starter. “Hey, Lakota, what happened to your ear?” they’ll ask. And I’ll reply, “Oh, just a little souvenir from my wild days.” Health Check: I’ve been spayed (no more puppy surprises), vaccinated (I’m practically a walking pharmacy), and microchipped (because even a free spirit needs GPS). Why You Should Choose Me: Loyalty: I’ll be your shadow, your confidante, your midnight snack buddy. When you’re down, I’ll nuzzle your hand and remind you that life is better with a wagging tail nearby. Energy Balance: Sure, I can sprint like a cheetah, but I also appreciate a good snooze. Let’s take leisurely strolls, watch sunsets, and share secrets. I promise not to judge your dance moves. Ears with Stories: My left ear—scarred but resilient—holds tales of adventure. Imagine the conversations we’ll have around the fireplace. “Lakota, tell me about that epic battle!” you’ll say, and I’ll lean in, eyes shining. What I Need from You: Love: The kind that fills rooms and spills into every corner. Scratch my ears, and I’ll be yours forever. Patience: Transitioning from kennel life to home life might be like learning a new dance. But with your patience, I’ll twirl my way into your heart. Male Companionship: Bros, unite! If you’ve got male dog pals, I’m all in. We’ll form a pack, and our adventures will be legendary. Ready to Make Memories? Contact mike@caaronline.org and arrange a meet-and-greet. Let’s embark on this journey together—a pawprint on your heart, a tail wag in every chapter. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143   PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt.
