Story
Chevy is the cutest girl! She was abandoned at a rural animal shelter because they just didn’t want her anymore. She’s 2 years old, spayed, knows a few commands and she’s dog social (though she needs slow introductions due to some insecurities). The owners claimed they got her from a “breeder” and she was a “purebred doberman”....ummm...nope. She has natural ears and a docked tail and she’s in the 65 pound range. She’s most likely mixed with shepherd but she’s 100% adorable. Chevy can be a little insecure so she needs patience, gentle handling and she has been well behaved during crate training, often staying there even with the door open. She doesn’t like being left alone outside so if you’re looking for an outdoor dog then this is not your girl. Her one bad habit is she likes to climb up for hugs which is endearing but also physically cumbersome and not everyone will enjoy being “climbed” by a big dog. Chevy is ready for a new home that will cherish her as she deserves.

Story
Roxy was rescued from an upstate animal shelter after she had spent about 6 weeks there becoming a favorite of several staff members. As shelters all over California became too full for many dogs to have their hold times extended, we received several pleas for Roxy, who was referred to as a Doberman mix. It was clear she was a special case that everyone there hoped would have a chance at being rescued, and she arrived with us mid-December, 2021. We're not sure this little girl is part Doberman at all, but she is a cute, animated girl with comical ears that will surely get her noticed and, we hope, readily adopted. She's 5-6 years old and on the small side at under 50 pounds.

Story
Trixie is a 1-year-old Dobie-Shepherd mix pup who was picked up with her sister as strays running at large. They spent about six weeks at their animal shelter but weren't claimed or adopted. We had no space for them but we were so sure that they would be adopted that we weren't overly concerned. Finally there was cause for concern, so the girls came to the rescue ranch. Trixie gets along with the adult male Doberman and a female Doberman mix but does have a dominant streak around other dogs. We think she can live with another large dog in a home but it would have to be the right chemistry. Trixie loves people though and she's an active, eager young learner ready for a home where she can get the training and leadership she needs.

Story
Cane is looking for a forever home. We brought him home from the shelter in October with the hope that, after orthopedic surgery and recovery, he would grow into a livestock guardian role here on the farm. He has done wonderfully through surgery and healing, but as he settled in, it became clear that farm life is just not the best fit for him. Cane is a loving, people-oriented dog who truly wants to be where his humans are. Cane deserves a home where he can be a beloved companion. He is potty trained, has never been destructive, loves lounging indoors or out, and would happily snuggle on the couch with his family. He plays well with other dogs and thrives on human interaction. Cane’s biggest quirk is that he can get a little overly enthusiastic when greeting people and may jump up in excitement. With continued guidance and consistency, this is something that can be improved. He’s also believed to be about 1 to 2 years old so as he grows he will out grow some of that puppy energy.

Swipe Right on Jax - 9 Years Young - 93 lbs of Pure CharacterHey there, I’m Jax! If you’re looking for a cookie-cutter, average kind of guy, you might want to keep swiping. The staff here would probably describe me as a pretty unique gentleman. I march to the beat of my own drum, and I’m looking for someone really special who can see just how amazing my quirks are.I’m a big guy, but I`ve got some wonderfully endearing habits. When we go on walks and I spot my friends, my signature move is to lay right down and patiently wait for them to come over and shower me with love. And when we`re in the play yard? That’s my absolute favorite place, because as soon as the staff tries to leash me up, I like to initiate a very fun, very enthusiastic game of tag!At the end of the day, I’m a massive cuddle bug who enjoys kisses and hugs—though, just like anyone, I appreciate having my own personal space to unwind too.My Ideal Relationship:The Right Dynamic: I get along great with other dogs of all sizes! However, cats are definitely a dealbreaker for me, and young children are just a bit too much for my vibe. I do best in a more mature, understanding environment. The Perfect Partner: I can be a bit shy on the first date, but once we become friends, I am fiercely loyal. I will stick by your side through absolutely everything.A Little About My Past:I’m looking for that perfect person who can give me a true second chance at life. The amazing folks here saved me when I needed it most, and now I’m ready to pay all that love forward to a forever family.Think you’re the special someone I’ve been waiting for? Come meet me—I promise, you won`t regret it!

Story
Name: HazelAge: 12Weight:54 lbsBreed: German ShepherdRelationship Status: Single and searching for a calm, understanding companionAbout Me:I’m Hazel — a seasoned German Shepherd with wisdom, loyalty, and just the right amount of sass. At 12 years old, I’ve mastered the art of enjoying life’s simple pleasures: sunny naps, peaceful strolls, lounging in the yard, and keeping a watchful eye on my people.I’m looking for someone who appreciates an older girl who still has plenty of love to give, but also respects that sometimes I enjoy my personal space. Think “independent woman with a soft side.” Once I trust you, you’ll have a devoted best friend for life.I get along wonderfully with both little and big dogs, and I do well with people who understand that senior dogs deserve patience, kindness, and a cozy place to relax. A fenced yard where I can safely wander and sunbathe would be my dream setup. What I’m Looking For:Someone calm, compassionate, and experienced enough to appreciate a strong but loving personality. Bonus points if you enjoy quiet evenings, loyal companionship, and giving forehead kisses to a beautiful shepherd girl.If you think we might be a perfect match, contact the wonderful humans at SPARC and ask to meet Hazel. I’ve been waiting patiently for my forever person — maybe it’s you.

Story
We received five pups that were brought to an upstate animal shelter as a group that were supposedly dumped in a desolate area and brought to the shelter by a Good Samaritan. We think this is yet another case of dogs breeding during the pandemic's worst year, when people moved and couldn't take their dogs, couldn't get or pay for spay and neuter appointments at veterinary clinics, etc. We had agreed to take two of the pups at a time, but it was implied that due to shelter overcrowding, the other three wouldn't be available later on to be rescued. As of early September, the siblings are 7 months old; four males and one female. They are very social with each other but have had no leash training or experience outside their home environment. Grace is the female, a big, light tan female. Each of the pups would probably benefit from having at least one other dog in the home, or else be adopted by a family that provides socializing with other dogs at dog parks and the like. None of them are aggressive. Their DNA was tested and they are 50% Doberman, 25% Belgian Malinois, and 25% Dutch Shepherd.
