Story
Apply to Adopt Me! This handsome guy is Maverick aka Shadow! His name is strong and regal, and it is very fitting for this amazing German Shepherd. He may be full GSD, and looks to be, but since we don't know, we are calling him a mix. This approx. 4-year-old, 60-lb. boy is always alert and knows your every move. He is a protector of his family. His beautiful brown eyes give looks of adoration at times and a gentleness that submits to petting and loving. His eyes and ears show the intensity for his devotion to carrying out his purpose in guarding and loving his forever family. He is very intelligent, as we have seen Maverick adapt to his foster home quickly. Maverick loves to cuddle and lay beside you on the sofa or the floor, wherever you are, he will be there. He wants to always be near his family. When you chill, he chills!  sleeps through the night and gently wakes in the morning when his foster parents get up. Maverick does not bother anything in the home. He loves to play ball, but that is best done outdoors, because he gets too excited in the house. Maverick was found as a stray and ended up in the shelter. He loves playing with other dogs around his size. Maverick is a joy to walk around the neighborhood and to take on hikes. He doesn’t pull on his leash and is always happy to accompany you. He’s great in the car as well. We have not observed him around children, but he has walked in busy areas and hasn't reacted to anyone. He is so affectionate that sometimes he’ll lay his head on your lap or yelp to get your attention. He likes to play with interactive toys inside and would definitely like to play ball outside in a fenced yard. True to the GSD breed, Maverick is a guard dog and will bark to protect his family when strangers come to the door or enter the home. He is currently undergoing board and train to better equip him to handle these situations and is doing so well.  We are requiring an adopter with GSD or similar experience. His adopter should have a secure minimum 6ft. fenced yard. Maverick can't wait to find his forever, active family. If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and believe you have the perfect home for Maverick, complete an app and tell us more about your family. January 31, 2026, 9:41 pm

Story
Apply to Adopt Me! Who couldn’t use a little more sunshine and happiness in their life? Gouda is an approx.10yo German Shepherd Dog ready for her retirement home. This sweet lady smiles with her eyes. Not only is she gorgeous, but our girl is a total sweetheart - we’ve never even heard her bark. Lil Rascals pulled her from the shelter as an owner surrender right before her euthanasia date. Those years of neglect are behind her and now she’s so ready for you to provide the love. She is so tail-waggy. Calm, quiet, housebroken, and easy to take care of. She could stand to gain a little weight, and is currently around 56 pounds. She eats really well, but needs soft food (she’s been on a combo of soaked senior kibble and canned food, plus soft treats) because of her teeth. She’ll have a dental before she goes to her forever home. We expect she will only have a few teeth left so soft food will continue. She is perfectly crate trained and sleeps quietly through the night (and lots of naps during the day too). She will be happy to lay near you for Netflix and chill time. She seems dog friendly with larger dogs with slow introductions. She hasn’t been around small children but would probably be fine with respectful ones. She’s great with the teenager in her foster home. She moves a little slow, her back legs are weak, maybe arthritis, which she takes inexpensive daily supplements for. Single story living is necessary as stairs are difficult for her to maneuver. She does not need a fenced yard, but does like to sniff outside and come in pretty quickly, so a yard is required. Leash walks need to be slow and short because of her hind legs. We really can’t overstate how easy she is to take care of. Her foster mom gave her a bath with the water hose on a warm day and she loved it. She loved the water and being scrubbed. She’s super soft but definitely sheds and should be brushed regularly. She also might enjoy a swimming pool. She put her front paws on the top step before her foster intervened as it was much too cold, an she may need help getting out! If you live in the Central Florida/Orlando area and think you may be a match for this special senior, please complete an application and tell us more about your family. February 13, 2026, 9:36 pm

Story
Hi, I’m Journey They say every dog has a story—and mine almost ended too soon. I was in a crowded shelter with very little time left, not because I did anything wrong, but simply because there wasn’t enough space. Then someone saw me—really saw me—and gave me the second chance I didn’t know I’d get. Now I’m safe, loved, and ready to find a forever home where I can truly belong. I’m about a year-and-a-half old, with striking blue eyes that people always stop to admire. I’m crate trained and housebroken, though if I’m moving into a new place, I might need a few extra breaks at first—new routines and spaces can take a little getting used to. I walk beautifully on a leash, and when I feel unsure or nervous, I’m great at listening and taking gentle redirection. When I meet other dogs on leash, I do really well. Inside the home, though, I can get a bit protective of my space, so I’d probably do best as your one and only, or maybe with a very calm and kind dog who helps me feel at ease. I just want to feel safe. My foster says I’m incredibly attentive and loving. I notice everything and love to stay close. I respond best to soft, gentle voices, and I really try hard to please. I’ve got a silly side too—they say I remind them of Scooby-Doo, and honestly, I kind of agree. When I want to connect, I’ll gently place my paw on your arm, like I’m saying, “I’m here, and I’ve got you.” It’s my little way of showing love. I’m okay with kids, especially if they’re quiet and kind. Sudden noises or loud voices can still scare me, and I’m working on being brave around things like passing cars. Sometimes I’ll jump up when I’m excited or nervous, so if that’s not your thing, I understand—just know I’m learning and trying my best every day. I’ve come so far already, and I’m proud of how hard I’m working. My foster is proud of me too. I just want a calm, patient home where I can keep growing and discovering how safe and beautiful life can be. And when I get a little scared? Well... sometimes I jump into your arms like Scooby-Doo. I’ve got a big heart that’s learning to be brave—one paw at a time.

Story
Bailey is a beautiful, active, working drive 4 year old German Shepherd mix. She is housebroken and gets along well with children, dogs and cats. She is very active and can play rough sometimes, so older kids who are comfortable with big, rowdy dogs would be best. She is very dog friendly but again very active and loves to play, so she would probably be too much for tiny, older, frail dogs who prefer a calmer companion - an active playmate that loves to rough house would be ideal. Bailey needs an active adopter with prior active breed experience that is ready to provide training and exercise outlets. She is a wonderful girl who will thrive with training and activity.  Adoption fee: $150 Bailey is spayed and current on all vaccines. Her adoption fee includes free dog training support and group classes, 30 days of free pet insurance through MetLife and a free bath and nail trim from Scenthound.
