Story
We have had Sam for almost 2 years and we are her 3rd home. The reason we are rehoming Sam is because we have a baby on the way due in October this year. She is a reactive dog with behavioral issues along with anxiety. She does not get along with anyone besides me and my fiancé or any dogs at all. She is not potty trained or crate trained, even though we have tried. She has chewed through her metal cage leaving a hole that she’s has tried to squeeze her body through, so now we leave her out in the house for her own safety. She is destructive when not watched due to her being bored and anxious even though she has toys all around. It’s as if she’s guarding the house from everything and everyone. She would do best with someone understanding her breed, having a consistent work/life schedule, and being an only dog. She’s a very sweet dog once you gain her trust and get to know her. She loves to be goofy while playing. She loves her balls, fetch, tug a war, going on walks, and a good belly rub.

Story
Lena is a very sweet, affectionate dog with a youthful spirit. She absolutely loves people and kids, and still enjoys playing like a puppy. She’s happiest staying close to her people and will loyally stick by your side. She loves to cuddle and stay indoors. She was rescued 8 years ago as a runt of the litter and her own passed away just recently. Lena is house-trained and used to living with 6 cats and a chihuahua she loved a lot.Lena does have a minor spinal malformation and a slightly shortened lower jaw, but these issues do not affect her ability to walk, eat, or drink. She might struggle a little with steep stairs or getting into taller cars. A ramp is recommended but not needed.Important:Lena needs to be the only large dog in the home because we have two German shepherds she is aggressive towards. If your home does not work out, PLEASE do not put her in the shelter. Keep our contact information so we can take her back to our home for her safety.

Story
Meet Rock!Rock came to the shelter in May of last year and has been patiently waiting for a place to call home ever since. He was found abandoned at a local dog park here in Walworth County. Frightened and unsure of strangers, Rock wasn’t about to walk up to just anyone. A staff member and a Good Samaritan tried to find him the night before with no luck. Thankfully, that kind-hearted Good Samaritan came out the next day. With the help of her own friendly pup, she was able to gain Rock’s trust and safely bring him to us. Since that day, he’s been under our care, waiting for his fresh start.Rock is the kind of dog who makes you earn his affection — and that just makes it all the more special. He’s an independent guy who loves to explore the trails, take in his surroundings, and quietly observe the world around him. He may not immediately seek out attention, but bring out a treat and you’ll have his full, unwavering focus!Rock is a smart boy who already knows how to sit and will happily offer his paw in exchange for a snack — and yes, it’s quite the thick paw. He thrives with patience, consistency, and someone willing to let him build trust at his own pace.If you’re ready to give a deserving dog who’s had a rough start the second chance he’s been waiting for, consider applying to meet Rock today. His best chapter is still ahead — could it be with you?Adoption information•2 years old•Neutered•Current for vaccinations •Microchipped •Large boy! •Older children due to stories we were told about the previous ownerYou can call 262-723-1000 or email us at lakelandanimalshelter@gmail.com Please remember dog meetings are by an appointment with an approved application.
