Story
Meet Max!This 1-year-old, 46-pound Shepherd mix is playful, sweet, and full of life! Max was recently adopted but returned through no fault of his own—his playful energy was just a little too much for the resident dog. Now he’s back and ready to find a home that’s the perfect match for his bouncy spirit.Max loves kids and is a big-time snuggler who adores his people. He’s active, curious, and happiest when he’s exploring the world, playing fetch, tugging on toys, or zooming around the yard. He also enjoys winding down with some quiet time—he’s the best of both worlds! His previous family said he does okay in a crate and does well with a routine, but he doesn’t love being left alone for long stretches—he’s a social pup who thrives with companionship and engagement. Here at the shelter, Max has continued to show us just how friendly, fun, and loving he truly is. He’s looking for a home that can keep up with his energy, provide mental stimulation, and offer a consistent schedule to help him settle in and shine. If you`re ready for a loyal adventure buddy with a heart full of love and a whole lot of goofiness—Max is your guy! ????We do all adoptions with approved applicants by appointment only. Story
Meet Lafayette!A 44lb, 2-year-old male Australian Shepherd with a heart as big as his energy level. When he first arrived at the shelter, everything felt overwhelming and he was very skittish around people and new surroundings. Over a short amount of time, Lafayette has truly blossomed. Now that he’s feeling more comfortable, Lafayette is showing off his playful, fun-loving personality. He’s a high-energy boy who loves to play and would thrive in an active home that can keep both his body and mind busy. He’s people-friendly, enjoys attention, and doesn’t seem to mind the company of other dogs.Lafayette can get a bit jumpy when he’s excited, so he would do best in a home with older children who can handle his enthusiasm. With the right family, this smart and spirited Aussie will make a loyal, joyful companion. We do all adoptions with approved applicants by appointment only. If you are interested in adopting, please contact us via FB Messenger or email us at jcasreception@johnsoncounty.in.gov for an application. Story
Juneau is a 4 year old female Great Pyrenees/German Shepherd Mix that has been with her family since she was a puppy. She was born on December 24, 2020. She is an incredibly sweet, low-key dog who loves to lounge around, and go for the occasional hike. True to her breed(s), she is loving, loyal, and protective of her family. She is wonderful with small children, and indoor cats, but does not do well with other dogs, and cats who go outdoors. She would love a home where she is the only dog, that has a yard (ideally fenced) to roam, and a family with an abundance of love to give. She is scared of loud noises (thunder, gunshots, fireworks, etc) so she needs a home that would not require her to be kept outdoors. Ultimately, Juneau is a big beautiful baby with a lot of love to share!

Story
Kai is a six year old beautiful purebred German Shepherd looking for a loving forever home. She is a loyal, intelligent girl with a gentle heart and a sweet disposition and once she warms up, she’ll be your steadfast companion. Kai enjoys a balance of cozy indoor relaxation, pleasant walks, and energetic playtime in the backyard. She is house trained and knows basic commands such as sit, lie down, go home, etc. Kai had parvo as a puppy, and while she has recovered, she does have a few ongoing health needs. She has allergies that require a daily dose of Apoquel, and she manages an autoimmune condition with a steroid every three days. She takes her medications well and continues to live a happy, active life. She will thrive with someone who can keep her on a consistent care routine.
