Story
Bismarck is a full breed white German shepherd that we purchased as a puppy from a breeder in St. Louis. He has been a pretty good dog however, he has outgrown our space. He is crate trained and spends more time than he should in it due to our busy schedules. He gets really anxious and snappy when a lot of kids are around making noise which is another reason we need to rehome him. We are currently working with a trainer to make his transition smoother.

Story
Zoey is a beautiful sable German Shepherd female. Zoey was a stray and we unfortunately do not know her history but Zoey is happily looking forward to having a family of her own.    Zoey is a playful and rambunctious girl. Her favorite activities include playing in muddy ponds, getting all the love, and inappropriately barking at unknown dogs and people. Zoey is learning how to navigate the world and make new human friends. While Zoey can be a very friendly and social girl she is at a critical point in her life known as the 'fear period' and can struggle with reactivity when meeting new people. It is extremely important that Zoey have a confident, experienced, handler that can compassionately guide her through the safe socialization she needs in order to learn how to navigate the world kindly. Zoey is very much a puppy and while eager to please she is still figuring out what is expected of her and how to rise to those expectations. Zoey has been great meeting volunteers with the guidance of her foster home and with those she knows is a very loving, playful girl. She has enjoyed going on hikes around private property and exploring ponds and mud puddles. Zoey is an active and athletic girl who is going to require ongoing exercise and structure to ensure her growth into a well rounded adult Shepherd. Zoey would be a great running companion, hiking buddy, and would likely excel in a number of dog sports. Zoey is NOT suitable for a home with children at this time.    Zoey is still figuring out other dogs and how to interact in a polite manner. Zoey can be very vocal when she meets new dogs and was defensive with other dogs when she arrived at her foster home. She has since settled in and is able to enjoy playgroups with other young Shepherds as well as group hikes. Zoey is slowly figuring out that she can play appropriately and doing a great job. Zoey will require ongoing structured socialization and guidance to maintain her progress as she is at an age of development where her socialization both in and out of the house is vital. Zoey is NOT friendly with cats or small dogs as she has shown a very high prey drive with both.    Zoey is a young, eager to please, and outgoing Shepherd who is searching for an active, loving, and adventurous home to give her the guidance and love she needs to grow into an even more wonderful companion. If you're the home for Zoey please email Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application or visit tierhaven.rescuegroups.org for FAQsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 10, 2026, 9:43 pm

Story
Chip is a handsome, chatty male German Shepherd mix around 6.5 years of age. Chip was originally with our rescue in 2019 as a puppy and was adopted by a young couple. Unfortunately, they returned Chip 6 years later due to life changes and Chip is now looking for his next fur-ever.    Chip is a talkative boy who likes to channel his inner hound to sing you the song of his people. He is pretty sure he is speaking English and the humans are just not on his level. Chip was not socialized much outside of his home unfortunately so he can be a bit reserved meeting new people but he was raised with children and warms up to them much quicker. His current BFF is a teenager who he happily shadows during their chores - apparently sassy dogs and teens speak the same language.    Chip has lived with other dogs his whole life but is a total trouble-maker during play groups or high energy moments. He is a perpetual annoying little brother who likes to chew on his fur-siblings legs, collars, and ears. Most other dogs don't appreciate that and Chip is not great at reading the cues so he either requires very patient siblings or a human to remind him to stop pestering. Chip has never lived with cats to our knowledge and is not currently cat tested.    Chip is a forever puppy who is looking for a new home to adventure with - he is seeking long talks, jaunts through the woods, and butt scratches. If you're the home for Chip email us at Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application or visit Tierhaven.rescuegroups.org for an adoption application    * Chips puppy picture is the last in his reel *Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 3, 2025, 4:12 pm

Story
Salami is a super cute male German Shepherd mix who is part of the "Charcuterie Litter" that came to us from an eastern KY shelter. Salami is a bit like a bobble head come to life and you must hold him if you want a non-blurry picture. A bit on the shy side - unless there is a treat involved - Salami is a lover who likes a good cuddle sesh and some solid play time.    We DO NOT have any history on their father or any idea what they may be mixed with. Their mother, Charcuterie, is a black & tan Shepherd with no visual indication of being mix bred herself. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 12, 2026, 9:32 pm

Story
Charcuterie is a beautiful female German Shepherd estimated around 2 years of age. Charcuterie was found as a stray with her litter of 9 puppies in Eastern Kentucky and we unfortunately do not know anything about her history prior to arrival at the shelter. Charcuterie has been a wonderful momma and is now ready to find a home to pamper her.    Charcuterie is one of the sweetest, most easy-going gals. She is clearly used to being on her own and is not one to be demanding of her people - she is just happy to be able to hang out inside or shadow you wherever you are. Charcuterie is still coming out of her own shell in a lot of ways now that she is no longer caring for her puppies. She hasn't yet shown any interest in toys but has come to appreciate a good butt scratch. She is a generally well-mannered girl both in and out of the house. Despite the stress landing in the shelter and then traveling to rescue with her puppies Charcuterie has stayed kind and loving through it all.    Charcuterie is pretty unbothered by other dogs. She hasn't fully got the grasp of the "play" part of "play group" but she is happy to hang out regardless. She navigates new dogs well and is respectful and neutral when meeting. Charcuterie has been living with cats in her foster home and hasn't had any issues with them. She is an all-around easy to get along with girl.    Charcuterie is looking for a family of her own to give her the TLC she needs. If you're the home for her email us at tierhavenrescue@gmail.com or visit Tierhaven.rescuegroups.org for FAQsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 12, 2026, 9:55 pm
