Story
Zoey is a beautiful young sable German Shepherd female estimated around 5-6 years of age. Zoey was a stray and we unfortunately do not know her history but Zoey is happily looking forward to having a family of her own.    Zoey is a playful and rambunctious girl. Her favorite activities include playing in muddy ponds, getting all the love, and inappropriately barking at unknown dogs and people. Zoey is learning how to navigate the world and make new human friends. While Zoey can be a very friendly and social girl she is at a critical point in her life known as the 'fear period' and can struggle with reactivity when meeting new people. It is extremely important that Zoey have a confident, experienced, handler that can compassionately guide her through the safe socialization she needs in order to learn how to navigate the world kindly. Zoey is very much a puppy and while eager to please she is still figuring out what is expected of her and how to rise to those expectations. Zoey has been great meeting volunteers with the guidance of her foster home and with those she knows is a very loving, playful girl. She has enjoyed going on hikes around private property and exploring ponds and mud puddles. Zoey is an active and athletic girl who is going to require ongoing exercise and structure to ensure her growth into a well rounded adult Shepherd. Zoey would be a great running companion, hiking buddy, and would likely excel in a number of dog sports. Zoey is NOT suitable for a home with children at this time.    Zoey is still figuring out other dogs and how to interact in a polite manner. Zoey can be very vocal when she meets new dogs and was defensive with other dogs when she arrived at her foster home. She has since settled in and is able to enjoy playgroups with other young Shepherds as well as group hikes. Zoey is slowly figuring out that she can play appropriately and doing a great job. Zoey will require ongoing structured socialization and guidance to maintain her progress as she is at an age of development where her socialization both in and out of the house is vital. Zoey is NOT friendly with cats or small dogs as she has shown a very high prey drive with both.    Zoey is a young, eager to please, and outgoing Shepherd who is searching for an active, loving, and adventurous home to give her the guidance and love she needs to grow into an even more wonderful companion. If you're the home for Zoey please email Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application or visit tierhaven.rescuegroups.org for FAQsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2024, 8:53 pm

Story
Star is a beautiful female Shepherd around 3 - 3.5 years of age. Star was originally with us as a youngster who had been surrendered due to playing too rough. She was quickly adopted but was recently returned due to conflicts with the other dogs in the home.    Star is an adorkable social butterfly and is very excited making new human friends. Star loves to love and has not lack of energy when it comes to showing her affection for her favorite humans. She is a very people-centric and close bonding sort of girl. Star is used to being a house dog and is a wonderfully well-mannered and laid back girl in the house. She is eager to please and is happy to chill at home or go on an adventure. Star currently lives with an 11 year old child that she believes hung the moon. She has not been around younger children to our knowledge but she definitely seems to love kids.    Star does well meeting new dogs while out and is a doggy daycare superstar; however, she would prefer to be the only dog in the home. Star enjoys the play yard and romping with other dogs but her humans are a resource she isn't willing to share in close quarters. This is perhaps something that can be worked on over time but would need a dedicated behavior modification plan and is best done in a home she is established in. Star has not been tested with cats.   Star is a sweet, loyal girl who is looking for a family to call home. If you're the home for Star email us at tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application or visit Tierhaven.rescuegroups.org for FAQsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 14, 2025, 4:55 pm

Story
Bestie is a beautiful bi-black female German Shepherd believed to be around 10 months of age. Bestie was a stray therefore we do not officially know her history prior to arrival; however, we have reason to believe that she had a rough start to life.   Bestie is a pretty shy girl who hasn't seen much of the world and isn't sure how to interact just yet. She is such a sweetie when given the time and space to warm up but when rushed Bestie tends to freeze and/or pee herself. Prior to the shelter it is likely that Bestie had never been on a leash, kept inside, petted on, or generally cared for. She is making up for lost time and doing wonderfully already. Bestie will need a home that has the patience to guide her in finding her confidence.   Bestie loves other dogs - she is everyone's bestie! Having social, confident dogs around helps her come out of her shell quicker as she looks to them for guidance. She is more submissive with other dogs and doesn't know what to do if they get playing too rowdy just yet but she is learning quickly. She is a master at chase games! Bestie has had minimal introductions to cats and thus far done fine but that could change as she finds her footing as a house dog.    Bestie is just a kind hearted girl that is looking for a family that will give her the TLC she needs to thrive. If you are the home for her please email us at Tierhavenrescue@gmail.com for an adoption application or visit Tierhaven.rescuegroups.org for FAQsVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 26, 2025, 11:32 pm
