Story
Meet Norman! A spirited approximately one-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd/Siberian Husky/American Pitbull Terrier mix from sunny Los Angeles, CA, now embracing the snowy wonderland of Lowell, MI! With his striking tricolor coat and mesmerizing mismatched eyes—one blue, one brown—Norman is a true head-turner. But it’s not just his looks that make him special; this high-energy, adventure-loving pup is always ready for fun! Norman thrives on movement, whether he’s dashing through the snow, leaping over fallen trees, or chasing after his beloved red ball. His enthusiasm is boundless, and he’s eager to share his love for playtime with an active family. Though he’s still working on leash manners, he’s made great progress and loves the freedom of a long lead for fetch sessions. Norman picks up training at lightning speed—he already knows “sit,” “wait,” “place,” “stay,” and “leave it.” Plus, he’s trained with the “yes” marker, making him a fantastic student who’s always eager to learn. He’s also a perfect gentleman in his crate, settling in like a pro when it’s time to rest. While Norman is friendly and curious about other dogs, he does have a strong prey drive—squirrels beware! He hasn’t had much experience with cats, so that’s still a mystery. And when it comes to water? Well, he’s still deciding how he feels about it. Lately, he’s been getting used to being in and around water, even exploring the creek for the first time! Shallow water is becoming less intimidating, and he’s making great progress—one paw at a time! Norman is seeking a home with experienced guardians who understand high-energy breeds and can provide plenty of structure, training, and activity. He thrives on both physical and mental challenges, so an active household willing to take him on adventures would be ideal. Due to his discomfort around young children, a home without little ones is recommended. Older kids may be fine with proper supervision. He’s highly food-motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding, and with positive reinforcement, he’ll continue to grow into the confident, well-mannered companion he’s meant to be! Norman recently completed his Lyme disease treatment and is currently doing great—he doesn’t show any symptoms and isn’t on any medications at this time. He’ll be retested in about five months to ensure everything stays on track. In the meantime, he’s as playful, affectionate, and adventurous as ever! Norman is eager to find a new loving home where he can run, learn, and cuddle up after a day of play. Could you be the one to welcome this spirited goofball into your life? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to meet Norman today!

Story
Meet Brutus: The 70‑lb Baby With the World’s Cutest Ears Do you believe in gentle giants? Do you believe a dog can be both massive and also a marshmallow? Do you believe one pup can single‑pawedly carry around every toy in a room? If so… Brutus is ready to be your guy. Brutus is a 1‑year‑old, 70‑pound sweetheart with the softest soul and the biggest heart (and possibly the biggest ears). Don’t let his size fool you—Brutus is truly a big baby wrapped in fur. He came to the shelter as a puppy and was sadly returned when his family didn’t expect him to grow into, well… Brutus-sized. But this lovable Scooby‑look‑alike never let that dull his shine. This toy‑obsessed goofball lives for playtime. Balls, squeakies, plushies—you name it, he’ll proudly carry it around like his prize treasure. And if you’re impressed easily? Perfect. Brutus LOVES showing off his favorites. He’s a total social butterfly and has a blast romping around with other dogs. Playgroups? Yes please. Friends? Even better. Toys in playgroups? Peak happiness. Brutus is also very clear about one thing: 👉 He knows his name. 👉 He loves his name. 👉 He would like to keep his name. (We respect the king’s wishes.) All Brutus wants now is a loving, active family with a fenced yard where he can zoom, play, trot with his toys, and hang out with his humans. He cannot wait to bring laughter, cuddles, and some serious ear‑flop action into his forever home. If you’re ready for joy, goofiness, loyalty, and a whole lot of love, apply now and make Brutus your new best buddy. Scooby‑fans, gentle‑giant lovers, and toy collectors—your dog has arrived. Story
Polaris is a young girl who was found dumped on the side of the road with a bag of dog food dumped on the ground as her only help for survival. A good samaritan picked her up and contacted me. Help Polaris never face that kind of treatment again by giving her a forever home. She is very sweet and friendly and great with other dogs and people and kids. She definitely has a prey drive though, which is not at all unusual for dogs, so no kitties or small animals. She walks well on the leash and does well in a crate. She is currently still in Oklahoma where she was rescued but she can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. She has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take her in or she will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) Vetting: spayed, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative) Adoption fee: $550 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95

Bubbie is a beautiful male white shepherd mix who will make someone a great pet. He is goofy, happy, and friendly and good with other dogs. Story
Pluto is a product of an ooops litter. There were 10 pups total born, and our rescue group was able to take four of the puppies. He is a very calm, intelligent puppy. Curious about the world around him and takes excellent pictures as he likes to pose. Pluto is very snuggly and loves to play with his litter mates and toys. He's gonna make an exceptional companion for a family. Currently he is located in Arkansas, but transport is available to New England. His adoption fee is $500 and that covers the cost of transport. He has been fully vetted, so all his core shots have been taken care of, he is neutered and is vaccinated for rabies.   ##2604198##
