Story
Meet Norman! A spirited approximately one-and-a-half-year-old German Shepherd/Siberian Husky/American Pitbull Terrier mix from sunny Los Angeles, CA, now embracing the snowy wonderland of Lowell, MI! With his striking tricolor coat and mesmerizing mismatched eyes—one blue, one brown—Norman is a true head-turner. But it’s not just his looks that make him special; this high-energy, adventure-loving pup is always ready for fun! Norman thrives on movement, whether he’s dashing through the snow, leaping over fallen trees, or chasing after his beloved red ball. His enthusiasm is boundless, and he’s eager to share his love for playtime with an active family. Though he’s still working on leash manners, he’s made great progress and loves the freedom of a long lead for fetch sessions. Norman picks up training at lightning speed—he already knows “sit,” “wait,” “place,” “stay,” and “leave it.” Plus, he’s trained with the “yes” marker, making him a fantastic student who’s always eager to learn. He’s also a perfect gentleman in his crate, settling in like a pro when it’s time to rest. While Norman is friendly and curious about other dogs, he does have a strong prey drive—squirrels beware! He hasn’t had much experience with cats, so that’s still a mystery. And when it comes to water? Well, he’s still deciding how he feels about it. Lately, he’s been getting used to being in and around water, even exploring the creek for the first time! Shallow water is becoming less intimidating, and he’s making great progress—one paw at a time! Norman is seeking a home with experienced guardians who understand high-energy breeds and can provide plenty of structure, training, and activity. He thrives on both physical and mental challenges, so an active household willing to take him on adventures would be ideal. Due to his discomfort around young children, a home without little ones is recommended. Older kids may be fine with proper supervision. He’s highly food-motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding, and with positive reinforcement, he’ll continue to grow into the confident, well-mannered companion he’s meant to be! Norman recently completed his Lyme disease treatment and is currently doing great—he doesn’t show any symptoms and isn’t on any medications at this time. He’ll be retested in about five months to ensure everything stays on track. In the meantime, he’s as playful, affectionate, and adventurous as ever! Norman is eager to find a new loving home where he can run, learn, and cuddle up after a day of play. Could you be the one to welcome this spirited goofball into your life? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to meet Norman today!
