Looking for a loyal companion who has mastered the art of the perfect nap? Meet Callie! 💖Ultra-sweet, incredibly loyal, and a total social butterfly with people. 🙃 She loves to sleep flat on her back with her legs sticking straight up in the air. It’s as ridiculous and adorable as it sounds! 🧠 She’s already got the basics down! Callie knows sit, down, paw, and come. 🐶 She’s never lived with another dog before, but she could do well sharing her space with another mellow senior pup. We recommend meets. 🧒 Since she hasn’t lived with kiddos before, we recommend a meet-and-greet to make sure everyone clicks. 👁️ Callie has an eye condition that causes partial blindness, but she navigates her world wonderfully! We will set you up with her starting medication, which you can easily continue with your family vet. If you’re looking for a sweet, low-key companion to brighten up your days (and provide endless entertainment with her upside-down naps), Callie is your girl. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. (Dogs in foster care are available to meet by appointment.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events.

Story
🐾 Hi Everyone! We’re the Mississippi Mud Car Puppies! 🐾 …aka the cutest, silliest, snuggliest little pack you’ll ever meet! So picture this: There we were — five tiny pups huddled together on a lonely dirt road in Mississippi. It was raining, we were cold, and we were definitely not built for outdoor camping. But we stuck together like the fluffy little troop we are until some humans came and said, “Hey! You guys deserve a better life!” And boy, were they right. 😄❤️ Now we’re in our foster home, living the good life — and we’re ready to find forever families of our own! 🎉 Here’s the Scoop on Us: We are: 🥰 VERY loving 🤣 Slightly mischievous (the cute kind!) 🐾 Professional wrestlers 🌱 Backyard explorers 🧸 Toy collectors 💋 Human kiss‑givers We LOVE to romp and tackle each other, zoom around the yard, and pile onto our humans for snuggles. Toys? YES. Outside time? DOUBLE YES. Being adored? THE BEST. We promise to fill your home with laughter, joy, and maybe the occasional stolen sock. (Oops. Our bad. 😇) 📣 A Message From Us Puppies: Important Stuff! Okay, okay… now for the serious part. We’re adorable — we know. But we’re also a LOT of work. Here’s what we need: 🕒 Someone who won’t leave us more than 2–3 hours a day 🍽️ Meals 3 times a day (we’re growing superstars!) 🚽 LOTS of potty breaks 🏫 Training & socializing (we’re babies… we need guidance!) 💞 Patience, consistency, and alllll the love If you put in the effort now, we’ll grow up to be the BEST dogs ever. Like, “forever loyal, always joyful, and absolutely part of the family” kind of dogs. ❤️ Our Plea to Future Humans: Please only apply if you’re REALLY ready for a puppy. We’ve already had a rough start, and we don’t want to be failed again. But if you’re ready to love, teach, cuddle, and raise us… 🌟 We promise to adore you for the rest of our lives. 🌟 Apply now and choose your favorite little Mississippi miracle! (We vote all of us. Just saying. 😉) If interested in Chevy, please apply online: ADOPTION APPLICATION or email us at Info.FetchingHeartsRescue@gmail.com. Story
Meet Dream!!!Dreams story is one you'll never forget. Found all alone on a dirt road, she was bravely fending for herself when something incredible happened she spotted one of our volunteers and took off running after their car as fast as she could. It was as if she knew help had arrived... and she was right. That moment changed her life, and now shes ready to find the loving home shes always deserved.Dream is a gentle, sweet soul who may start off a bit shy, but once she knows shes safe, her true personality begins to shine. With a little patience and understanding, she blossoms into a loyal and loving companion who forms deep bonds with her people. Because she needs time to settle in, she would do best in a home with children over 10 who can respect her space and help her feel secure. This beautiful girl enjoys a quieter, more relaxed lifestyle. She would thrive in a homebody-type environment where she can spend her days lounging, playing in a fenced yard, and cuddling up on rainy afternoons. Dream does love to get out for walks and explore the world, but she always finds comfort being close to her humans and doggy friends.Shas also curious about cats she doesn't quite understand what they are yet, but her curiosity is gentle and not at all aggressive. With proper introductions, she may do just fine sharing her home.Dream has the perfect balance of playful and affectionate she loves to romp around and have fun, but shes just as happy snuggling up with her people or curling up alongside her canine companions. If you're ready to show Dream what a true, loving dream life looks like, shes ready to give you her whole heart in return.Apply today to make Dream part of your family you just might be the happy ending shes been waiting for.If interested in Dream, please apply online: ADOPTION APPLICATION or email us at: Info.FetchingHeartsRescue@gmail.com.Unless otherwise indicated, all dogs adopted through Fetching Hearts have received the following before being available for adoption:Thorough veterinary examination. All routine annual vaccinations, includingRabies, DHLPPBordetella (Kennel Cough)Heartworm TestFecal Test, DewormingMicrochipFlea and Tick PreventionHeartworm Prevention.Spay/NeuterAll dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.VETTING NOTE: Fetching Hearts Rescue completely vets our dogs thoroughly to the best of our knowledge based on communication with our Southern Vets. Story
Polaris is a young girl who was found dumped on the side of the road with a bag of dog food dumped on the ground as her only help for survival. A good samaritan picked her up and contacted me. Help Polaris never face that kind of treatment again by giving her a forever home. She is very sweet and friendly and great with other dogs and people and kids. She definitely has a prey drive though, which is not at all unusual for dogs, so no kitties or small animals. She walks well on the leash and does well in a crate. She is currently still in Oklahoma where she was rescued but she can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. She has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take her in or she will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Note: No dogs are advertised as potty-trained because most dogs need at least some re-training in a new environment and after being in a shelter/rescue environment/strays. www.facebook.com/desideratarescue (copy and paste into a new browser window) Transport locations: - Washington State (Kennewick, Spokane, Tumwater, Tacoma, Tukwila, Lynnwood/Edmonds, Bellingham) - Oregon (Portland and Springfield) - Colorado (Ft Lupton) - Idaho (Heyburn and Boise/Meridian) - Utah (Ogden) - Wyoming (Evanston, Rock Springs, Laramie) - Montana (Missoula) - Illinois (Vandalia, Springfield, Chicago) - Indiana (Spiceland, Burn Harbor) - Michigan (St Joseph, Battle Creek, Ann Arbor) - Wisconsin (Madison, Wausau, Eau Claire, Appleton, Milwaukee) - Minnesota (Minneapolis/St Paul) - Iowa (Des Moines) - Ohio (Columbus and London) - Pennsylvania (Erie, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg) - New York (Buffalo and Albany) - Connecticut (Enfield) - New Jersey (Bedminster) - Nevada (Las Vegas) - Arizona (Flagstaff) Vetting: spayed, microchipped, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, dhpp vaccine x 3, lepto vaccine x 2, dewormed several times, on monthly flea and tick prevention, on monthly heartworm protection, heartworm tested (negative) Adoption fee: $550 (includes the $250 cost of transport from Oklahoma and all vetting listed above) Adoption application (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://form.jotform.com/82677586784176 FAQs (copy and paste into a new browser window): https://docs.google.com/document/d/12eb_SRtk1AzaBl87UltcLJ24MjH9UhQm_LE77iWZEQA/edit?tab=t.0 Desiderata Rescue is Oklahoma Licensed Rescue #95

Story
To adopt please fill out an adoption application. Sasha Blue is a 1yo female German shepherd/husky/golden retriever mix in Memphis being surrendered by her owner who can no longer keep her. This family has the momma dog along with her (4) one year old “puppies,” including Sasha Blue. The family is overwhelmed with the 5 large dogs and must surrender the 4 “puppies,” including Sasha Blue.  Sasha Blue is gentle and friendly with her family, but she is not well socialized and is fearful with new people and situations. Watch her video. Good with other dogs, not cat tested. Great with kids and gentle with the family’s 3 young children.  Medium-high energy level outside, settles down quickly inside. Mostly living outside in the fenced backyard. Housebroken. Good on a leash, rides great in the car.  Healthy and fully vetted, current on shots. Weighs about 55 pounds. Sweet young dog needs an adopter with experience socializing and training dogs who is willing to help Sasha Blue acclimate and reach her full potential. Story
To adopt please fill out an adoption application. Woody is a 1 yo male German shepherd mix dog who was rescued as a stray in Memphis.  Friendly, sweet temperament, a little tentative at first with new people and situations, typical shepherd temperament. Woody is selective about his dog friends and would probably enjoy being the only dog.  He’s friendly and non-aggressive with the cats on the other side of the fence.  Fine with kids and recommended for dog savvy children 10 years and older. Medium energy level outside, quiet and well-mannered in the house.  Crate trained and housebroken. Obeys basic commands.  Loves to be with his people.  Good on a leash, rides great in the car.  When he first came to us, Woody had heartworms, but he was treated without complications and cured and is now ready for adoption. Healthy and fully vetted, current on shots, neutered, weighs about 45 pounds.  AWESOME young GSD mix will make a wonderful companion (and jogging partner!)  for an active family who loves the breed. .
