Story
I got Kaos with the understanding that he was an inside dog. The day I got him, he was actually being kept outside 100% time. I still took him because he was not in the best shape, and needed medical attention the previous owners were not willing to provide for him. After taking him in with several months of continued vet visits, I think it would be best for him to be in a home where he could be primarily an outside dog as he has a lot of anxiety surrounding being inside a lot of the time. He is an amazing dog, I just do not feel like my home is the best fit for him.

Story
I have a beautiful female German shepherd that I am rehoming. It’s something I really don’t want to do, but my landlord is only accepting two pets which are her parents. She is skittish and tends to be comfortable with only female owners. She’s loving but also dominant. She loves treats which will make it a breeze for training her. She knows bathroom is outside but when she’s excited or fearful she will tend to potty indoors. If you have a fenced yard then you won’t have that issue you can just let her out to use the bathroom when she needs to go. Training her will definitely take that fear pee away. She is very playful and good with children. She does have fear of other dogs and people so she will need a little time to adjust to her new owners as any other dog would. She is up to date with her vaccines. Please let me know if interested and are familiar with GSD’s. I really want her to be in a loving home that will give her lots of love and patience since she is still a puppy.

Story
Estrella recently went on a Dog Day Out and here's what her DDO buddy had to say! "Today, Estrella celebrated St Patrick's Day with a nice leisurely stroll in the park while taking a few nibbles of treats. This beautiful soul is a gentle, grey faced senior. A perfect companion for someone who lives a slow paced life. Estrella is Spanish for 'star' and there are so many amazing reasons why she shines bright: -gentle walker -gentle treat taker -non reactive to passerbyers and other dogs -amazing car rider -low energy -loves pets" 2nd DDO "Someone once said this about senior dogs: "They show exorbitant gratitude and limitless trust. They are without artifice. They are funny in new and unexpected ways. But above all, they seem at peace." Those are perfect words to describe the beautiful girl we took on a Dog's Day Out today. Estrella is a ten-year-old German Shepherd spayed female who is looking for a forever home where she can give and receive love during her senior years. - She needed a bit of encouragement when she first jumped in our car, but she did fine the rest of the day. She rides calmly either lying down or sitting to watch out the window. - Does very well on a leash; keeps a leisurely pace next to you and stops once in awhile to sniff something interesting. - A perfect lady in public! Walked up and down aisles of PetSense without any pulling or trying to grab things from shelves. She enjoyed a cookie afterwards but doesn't seem to be especially treat motivated...enjoys them but gently takes them from you and savors them rather than gulping them down. - At home, she is so well-behaved. I could not coax her onto our sofa (maybe her previous owner did not allow it), but she happily napped on a floor mat near our back door. She also enjoyed exploring every inch of our wooded lot...lots of great new areas to sniff. She noticed squirrels but did not react. She completely ignored our cats behind a baby gate in the house. No accidents - she is house-trained. -At the coffee shop, she was at first unsure of just what a pup cup is, but it only took one lick for her to become a new fan! Still, she was gentle about indulging in this new treat. After a nap and a good brushing, she returned to Guilford County Animal Services where she is available for adoption. This beautiful senior girl would be such a gentle loving companion." Estrella is listed as No Small Children because her previous owner let us know that she's never really been around children and can be a bit shy. Her previous owner also stated Estrella does best with male dogs. She does not show any aggression towards any dogs at the shelter. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!
