Meet KrissyKrissy is a beautiful 45 year old German Shepherd who weighs about 65 pounds and has the classic shepherd intelligence, loyalty, and presence. She is a sweet, affectionate girl who forms strong bonds with the people she trustsespecially the women who care for her. Krissy appears to be a dog who has had to look out for herself in the past, and because of that she can be protective and alert in unfamiliar situations. She may bark when she feels unsure, particularly around men she doesnt know, but she has not shown aggressive behavior. With calm handling, patience, and positive experiences, she continues to show how much she wants to feel safe and secure. She seems fine with the other dogs at the kennel, clearly has obedience skills, and walks nicely on leash. This lovely girl would do best in a home that understands the shepherd breed and is willing to give her time to decompress and build trust at her own pace. A quieter household with clear structure and gentle introductions will help Krissy thrive. Once she feels safe, her true nature shines througha devoted, loving companion who wants nothing more than to be someones loyal sidekick.Krissy didnt get the fresh start she deserved the first time around, but shes ready for a second chance with the right person. Story
Murphy was known as Sean at the shelter at San Antonio. He had been injured by a car and was taken to the shelter where he was placed on the euthanasia list after a few short days. He didn’t have much hope left and had given up. After seeing the sadness in his eyes, we knew we had to help. He was transported to Ohio and was seen by our orthopedic surgeon who determined he had to lose his long beautiful tail, but there was also a good chance he would need a femoral head ostectomy to correct his hip and leg. Because a small amount of healing was noted, he was given 3 weeks to determine if his body would heal enough on its own and we could spare him the pain of surgery. That turned out to be the case, so this sweet guy only lost his tail. Murphy is doing wonderfully and continues to heal and gain strength. He has been cleared for adoption and is hoping to find a very loving family to give him the life he deserves. Murphy is a shepherd mix. Best guess by the vet is a mix with Chow Chow because of his tiny, flopped over ears, but we aren’t sure. Thor is a 1 yr old (born April 24, 2024) German Shepherd/Border Collie mix. He is currently around 50 lbs. He is social, good with other dogs and has been around cats. He lived his entire short life outdoors so he will require obedience training, house training and learn how to live inside.   Our hope is that we can send him to the prison for training once we have an opening.  He arrived here with several other dogs from the same property.   If you are interested in Thor or one of his companions/siblings please contact the shelter OR stop in during regular business hours.
