Story
Sally is a german shepherd mastiff mix (we think, she was adopted from a shelter that knew very little about her). She is about 130 to 140 lbs. Very gentle dog that enjoys cuddling and being around people. She gets along with our outdoor cat and a friend had a pit mix dog that stayed at our house for 2 yrs. I started a job in dc and not home enough to give her the attention she needs and deserves. My daughters are going off to college that limits who will be home to spend time with her

Story
Five-year-old Quinn was transferred from another shelter in hopes of finding a forever home! She is very affectionate, high energy, and loves to toss her stuffed toys around. Unfortunately, Quinn is one of our longest residents and has been here since October 2021. While here she has learned to walk on leash and some basic commands. She LOVES long hikes with shelter volunteers as well as sharing a kiss or two. This fluffy girl has done well riding in the car as well as being groomed! She tolerates being bathed, brushed, and trimmed amazingly! Quinn would do best with children 12+, and would need to go into a home without cats. She is very selective with dogs, but has done well meeting younger, smaller male dogs. She would do best in a home without other dogs but we are willing to have meet-and-greets for her on a case-to-case basis. If you are looking for a pup that enjoys being outside by your side, Quinn may be the dog for you! Quinn is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.

Story
Say Hello to handsome Brownie! This handsome boy is 2-years-old! Brownie lived in a single female home for most of his life, so he can be unsure of men at times. We have learned that he usually becomes attached to women. This sweet boy would do best in an active home, with owners who are willing to work with him, and keep socializing him to new people. To ensure Brownie is confident and comfortable with you, it may require multiple meets with him. He has never lived with children, but seems to do well with older children ages ten and up, since he gets over excited and jumps up at times. Our dedicated staff have been taking him out of the kennel to experience new environments and meet new people. Wonderful volunteers have also been working with him to help gain confidence and be less fearful of men. Brownie has been to parks where there are numerous people, and he is getting better with being calm and not reacting. He has shown improvement since he first came to the shelter. Brownie is learning to walk better on leash, enjoys car rides, and is very playful! He also likes chewing on bones and watching TV! Brownie is a fast learner, and is treat and praise motivated Positive training would work best for him. He knows commands of sit, down, stay, wait, leave it, and come. Experienced dog owners with medium-large sized dogs is recommended. Approved adopters may schedule to meet with Brownie and get to know him. If interested in adopting, apply at the shelter or on our website!

Story
GSD/Husky/Lab/Catahoula mixFour year old Dexter W. is a mixture of Labrador, GSD, Husky and Catahoula. His former owner’s parents have recently taken him in and he is just too much dog for them. They describe him as “a fun, smart and energetic companion. He loves to be near us and is a loyal best friend who loves to play.”  They believe he would be best with a family with older children or a family of young adults because of his energy level.  He has never been around cats. IDGSR Welcomes BEVERLY into the safety of the rescue!! ************** Hey! Hey! Hey! I'm Beverly! First things first, I want to tell you about how beautiful I am! I am about 1-year old & have the most gorgeous apricot coloring you have ever seen! Think about it, have you seen another pupper with as beautiful coloring as me? Nahh, didn't think so! :) I want to tell you, I am house & crate trained! Thats a big win win, don't you think?! I am still learning nice manners but I catch on super quick. Oh! I also already know several commands - I'm basically on my way to getting a Masters in Obedience Training! Next thing you should know about me is I have LOTS of playful puppy energy! Like, I LOVE LOVE to play & want another *MALE* doggo to roughhouse with. Do you have a boy dog that likes to play & has lots of energy? I'm your girl to play with him! Also, I love being around teenage guys & men! As you can see in my video, I'm super lovey & very into my new friend who comes to visit me at my foster home! As you can see in my pictures, I'm a muscular & athletic girl (I work on my fitness!). I'd make a great active buddy for you; we could go on long hikes or walks, go to the park & play, or wherever you'd like to go! I'm pretty sure you'll fall in love with me immediately, so get that application in asap! I can't wait to meet you & be your best friend! ************** Thank you for considering adopting this wonderful dog! Donations help us care for all of the dogs in our program.
