You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Heloise is young, friendly, extra sweet tempered, and full of life and love. She would be best in a family that likes the outdoors and activity. Hiking, camping, fun walks, jogging partner, all these will make her day! She has shown herself to be quite dog friendly, too, wanting to play and hang out with other canines. A smart, very good girl who is waiting for you to let her know what you want her to know. She truly wants to please all the time and is eager and ready to learn for a lifetime of trust and companionship. A happy dog, Heloise will bring smiles to your face every day. She has had a total vet check-up and all her shots. Heloise is the complete package for a best friend and family dog! Story
Meet Benny Benny is a stunning, approximately 2-year-old male Shepherd mix who quite literally showed up one morning in our police kennels, scared, confused, and with no note, no explanation, and no clue how he got there. What we do know is that Benny didn’t deserve to be left behind.Benny is a very big boy, weighing around 85 pounds, tall, lanky, and all legs. He is one of the tallest “Shepherds” we’ve ever seen. Sadly, Benny does show signs consistent with poor breeding and hip dysplasia, but that hasn’t stopped his spirit one bit. We’re seeing more dogs with genetic issues like hip dysplasia, often linked to poor breeding practices. Responsible breeding matters. Dogs pay the price when it doesn’t. Due to his size and hip issues, Benny will have to stay on the leaner side, the rest of his life. If he becomes overweight, it’s only going to hurt him in the long run. He can’t hold up that much weight with his hips and legs. He can still live a long life and be very happy. He will probably be on joint supplement pills the rest of his life however they are not very expensive.Because Benny is such a large, powerful, high-energy dog who came to us with no manners or structure, we knew the best thing we could do for him was set him up for long-term success. Benny is currently enrolled in professional training at Mason Dixon K9, where he is learning his commands, boundaries, and proper manners, and we’re told he is doing remarkably well. He is incredibly smart, eager to learn, and thriving with consistency.Benny is not quite ready for adoption yet, as he still has a few weeks of training to complete. However, applications are now open. His future adopter will also participate in a training session to ensure they fully understand the commands and structure Benny has been taught.Despite his size, Benny is a total love. He bonds quickly, loves playing fetch, adores belly rubs, and is happiest curling up beside his person. He is loyal, affectionate, and deeply connected, the kind of dog who will choose his person and give them his whole heart. We may never know how Benny ended up here, but we do know this:He is going to leave better than he arrived, confident, trained, and ready for the right home.

Meet Nimbus! 5 months old mixed breed | 28 lbs | Fostered in Mountville, PA If you’ve been waiting for your very own little cloud of joy—meet Nimbus, the fluffy silver lining to your day! Nimbus traveled all the way from Georgia with his siblings (who’ve all been adopted), and now this sweet boy is wondering when it’ll be his turn to find a forever home. He’s the total package: friendly, cuddly, smart, and adorable enough to make your heart melt on sight. Dog-friendly? Absolutely—he loves dogs of all sizes and ages! Cat-friendly? Yep! He’s curious but gentle, and might try to play if your kitty’s up for it. Kid- and people-loving? 100%! Nimbus never met a human he didn’t want to snuggle and play with. He’s got the perfect puppy balance—playful and goofy one minute, then happily curled up for a nap the next. Nimbus is food-motivated (so training is a breeze), doing great with house and crate training, and learning his leash skills like a pro. He is working on his travel manners as car rides make his tummy hurt. Nimbus is up to date on vaccines and preventatives, microchipped, and will need to be neutered prior to 7 months of age. If you’re looking for a sweet, cloud-soft cuddlebug with a heart as big as his puppy paws, Nimbus is ready to float right into your life! Apply today at  www.pack9rescue.org/applications New Oxford PA 17350; LIC # 9736 We are PA Caring for K-9's, an all-breed dog rescue that is solely run by volunteers. Story
DESCRIPTION: Not every dog gets to spend their life curled up on a couch, showered with affection, and surrounded by family. Ivy’s story is a reminder of just how resilient dogs can be — even when life hasn't always been as kind as you may hope. Though Ivy has known human kindness, she has never known the comfort of a true home until now. She came to MAGSR having never lived in a home, yet her soulful eyes and calm presence speak of a dog who still believes in love. Physically, Ivy carries the weight of a life spent giving more than she received. Her body shows signs of many litters, untreated medical conditions, and severe arthritis. When her pain became too much to ignore, a decision was made to give Ivy the care she so desperately needed — and she joined the MAGSR family. One of our amazing senior foster families immediately stepped up, giving Ivy her very first taste of home: a comfortable household, soft beds, quiet spaces, and unconditional love. Despite her past, Ivy is gentle, affectionate, and slowly learning the joys of being a beloved companion. She enjoys short walks, tasty treats, and has recently discovered the magic of dog beds. But Ivy's journey is far from over. Upon arrival, she was diagnosed with: Severe arthritis in her front left leg, causing her significant pain and lameness A skin infection requiring treatment before other procedures could take place Ulcerated tumors and masses on her chest and belly Underweight frame, which needed to be addressed before surgery could commence This week, Ivy bravely underwent a complicated hysterectomy, had several masses removed, and began treatment to address her discomfort. Radiographs of her joins and chest were taken to determine the extent of her needs. Consultations with specialists also took place. At this time biopsy results are pending, and more invasive care may be needed. Despite everything, Ivy remains calm, loving, and endlessly patient — a true testament to her spirit. She is wearing her surgical pajamas like a champ, is adjusting to the cone and pro collar, and has been very patient when going through daily clean up and care. Ivy isn’t available for adoption just yet, but she will be — once she’s strong, healthy, and ready for the next chapter of her life. Ivy’s care is ongoing and expensive. If you’re touched by her story, please consider making a donation toward her medical expenses. Every dollar helps us continue to care for dogs like Ivy — the ones who’ve waited too long for a family of their own and are finally getting their chance. Donations can be made at magsr.org. Thank you in advance for joining us in believing in second chances. Ivy is an exceptional girl who we know is worth every dime.  November 11, 2025, 8:35 am

Story
DESCRIPTION: Mavis is a joyful, energetic 6-month-old pup with a heart as big as her personality. Always ready to play, explore, and make new friends, she truly is the life of the party. From the moment shelter staff met her after she was picked up as a stray in the South, they knew Mavis was something special—a little spark of endless joy in an overcrowded shelter full of dogs needing help. Fearing she might be overlooked due to overcrowding, a plea was sent out for her. While many rescues were already overwhelmed, our team stepped forward with a plan, and Mavis walked out the shelter doors and into the MAGSR family. With a solid social foundation already in place, Mavis has learned that many people are just as excited to say hello as she is. Continued socialization will be key to her success, as she benefits from positive experiences with new people, animals, and environments. She is a smart, curious girl who learns quickly and loves people of all sizes. Mavis adores kids and has a playful spirit, though—like most young pups—she is still learning her manners. With training, structure, and clear boundaries, she could be a wonderful companion for a child to grow up with and a true best friend. Mavis does best with a calm, confident leader and often looks to her handler for reassurance, especially when encountering new sounds or situations. As a former stray, she can be a bit skittish at times, but with confidence-building and continued positive exposure, she continues to thrive and grow. Thanks to time in a fantastic temporary foster home, we’ve learned that Mavis already has great house skills. She is housebroken, crate trained, and polite on leash. She takes care of business right away when outside and will sit patiently while waiting for her leash to be removed—though, as a young pup, she can get a little excited if it takes too long! Occasionally, the world is just a bit too exciting and she may dash suddenly on leash, but overall she is learning quickly. Mavis enjoys relaxing with her people and has a love-hate relationship with the TV—she likes to watch, but may react when animals or certain sounds appear. She’s incredibly affectionate and believes being a lap dog is a very serious job. Having been overcorrected in the past, Mavis may briefly retreat when told “no,” but she quickly bounces back, eager to give kisses and reassure herself that all is well. Adopting Mavis means welcoming endless fun, affection, and loyalty into your home. She is ready to give her whole heart to a family who will help her continue to grow and feel safe—forever. Please consider giving Mavis the loving home she deserves, so she never has to worry about her safety again.  December 22, 2025, 3:00 pm
