Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Alvin is a sweet and gorgeous boy,  he is one of the three 'Chipmunk' pups that were picked up after being orphaned after mom had tragically passed. They were picked up 2/11/25 and put on the euthanasia list 3/11/25  due to lack of space/inhumane living conditions/no interest.  Luckily a foster home came forward for these pups to save them before they lost any chance to know love and a good home.  Crate trained, good with other dogs, though he would do best with a dog closer to his size. He is goofy and loving.   Please let us know if you'd like to meet this beautiful boy!   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 11, 2026, 12:48 pm

Story
“The dog lives for the day, the hour, even the moment.” This reminds us of Russ, who savors each day to the fullest and is such a free spirit! Why we love him: Russ is a bouncy, happy-go-lucky dog who is always so glad to be in your company! Russ is a mix of German Shepherd and Coonhound. He is two years old and weighs 64 pounds. Russ has one of those wonderfully expressive doggy faces that looks like he is smiling, and his merry brown eyes reflect his joy for life. He reminds us of a big puppy! Russ is a very enthusiastic companion on walks and is more than glad to help you get your daily exercise. He would be a fine hiking or running buddy, too. Outings in the fenced yard are a great outlet for his abundant energy, and he bounds about in total joy! He especially enjoys playing with the toys. Russ loves games of fetch, too. He has enjoyed play groups with some of his shelter companions. If you have another dog, we do require a meet and greet to ensure compatibility. Lucky Russ has spent time in three foster homes. His first Mom says: "Russ loves toys and sticks and has a very playful side. He really enjoys being outside sniffing and searching for adventures. Russ is not very vocal, just when the other dogs get barking, he will add to it. He needs someone that will assist with getting his energy out and directed in a good place. He does also love his sleep! Russ is crate trained and sleeps through the night. He enjoys long naps on his raised dog beds. But when he’s awake, he’s ready to go. Russ is easy to bathe and thinks car rides are a fun time! He would be best in a home with older children. Russ can be selective with dogs because he wants to play hard and not all other dogs appreciate that. A meet and greet is required if you have another dog. He walks really well on a leash and finds a lot of joy in outdoor adventures. Russ can be overstimulated inside, but with structure he’s shown that he can relax inside." His foster Dad reports: "Russ has had a fun foster visit to our house for Christmas. He got a nice big chew bone in his stocking and a box of Milk Bone biscuits. He loves to sit on the sofa and watch tv in the doggie den but always wants a human to be there with him. He LOVES attention. We have discovered Russ is most comfortable in his kennel at night when we cover it. It calms him down tremendously and goes in when you tell him "go to bed." He is really good friends with my son Hayden who is not allowed to sit in a room where Russ is without getting lots of love from him. Russ also loved meeting my grandhildren. He has really enjoyed playing outside with "Little Buddy" the most. We tossed tennis balls for them for over an hour to wear them out." His second foster Mom observes: "Russ is a good boy. He just wants to be around people and dogs! He came right in and made himself at home! Russ helped me make lunch, checked out every cupboard and, helped me collect eggs. Russ’s biggest issue is his impulsiveness. We did a lot of nos, downs, and sits. I think if he had a regular home, with consistency and routine, he’d fall in line in a hurry. He does have a LOT of energy and needs plenty of time outside, exploring, and lolling in the sun, Russ would love to have dog siblings !Russ loves being petted and brushed. He sat well to have his ears cleaned. He knows the sit and down commands. Russ now sits respectfully at the door for permission to enter or exit, and he sits to wait for his food dish to be put down. He also lays down to be leashed. Russ adores people and genuinely wants to please. He’s an energetic guy who thrives on activity and engagement, making him a fantastic companion for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle. A fenced yard would be a dream for him to stretch his legs and burn off energy, though a few daily walks would also keep him happy and fulfilled. As the day winds down, so does Russ. Once evening arrives, he happily settles in and sleeps quietly through the night in his kennel, making him an easy overnight companion. Russ would shine with a confident, consistent adopter, especially someone familiar with shepherd or hound breeds, and he’d be thrilled to have an energetic canine sister to play with too!" Russ also had another great outing with a volunteer. He enjoyed riding in the car, spending time exploring the yard, observing the chickens and meeting the family cat and dogs. Story
Meet Ronan Ronan is a stunning, almost-3-year-old boy with a heart just as big as his ears! This handsome guy came to us as a stray, but it didn’t take long to discover that his past was full of love — including living peacefully with three cats. Because of that, Ronan is wonderfully cat-friendly and also does great with kids. Ronan is a polite, well-mannered pup who truly enjoys being part of a family. He walks beautifully on a leash, rides great in the car, and has a playful, fun-loving side that makes every day brighter. Whether he’s playing with toys, going for a stroll, or just hanging out with his people, Ronan is happiest when he’s included. While Ronan adores people and cats, he’s looking for a dog-free home where he can be the center of attention and feel safe and secure. He thrives when he’s the only canine in the house and will reward you with loyalty, affection, and a whole lot of love. If you’re searching for a well-behaved, affectionate, and incredibly handsome companion, Ronan might just be your perfect match. Come meet this special boy and let him steal your heart!  ##2551516##

Story
You won't find a more handsome, intelligent or silly boy than Sidney. He is about 3.5 years old and weighs 84 lbs. Sidney is a very intelligent fellow, he learns quicky and is anxious to please. He will do well with a job and/or a lot of stimulation, long walks and hikes. He will do well with an experienced dog person. Sidney loves meeting new people. He has done well with large dogs he has met, however he is would not be good with small dogs or cats. Sidney does show some barrier reactivity, however, when the barrier is removed (whether it is a crate, fence or car window) he shows absolutely no issues. Because Sidney likes a lot of activity, he will need a securely fenced yard (must be a physical fence, not an electric or invisible system) He is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and on monthly treatment for flea/ticks and heartworm prevention Sidney is currently located in the Middle TN area but transport is included in the adoption fee for approved adopter If you are interested in Sidney, email rookiesrescue@yahoo.com for an application

Story
Agnes is an incredibly sweet girl who loves to show you her stuffies she likes to carry around in her mouth-its adorable!!! She seems good with dogs but is leash reactive but shows interest in play if met off leash and done appropriately. But also loves to just be around people! She does seem to have an issue with larger white dogs that have a certain look (she had one be aggressive with her) but a conversation would be had about that. Other than that she seems to like most dogs! She went on a breakout over the holidays and road tripped to Florida and did amazing!!! Agnes did have a decent sized tumor on her front leg we had checked out and unfortunately it was cancerous and removed and they did not get good margins on it but we have seen and consulted with both an oncologist and a radiation oncologist and all of us are in agreement that with the fact that there has not been a reoccurrence since removal in October of 2025 she is doing good and the regrowth rate is less than 30% with a chance of spread at less than 20% that we will not be pursuing treatment with her. She will be headed to checkups every 3-4 months for x-rays for a bit and Bonaparte's would cover the cost of that as well as any medical costs associated with anything needed to be pursued in the future associated with the leg if it were to come back. She was also Heartworm positive when we pulled her and has gone through the rigorous HW treatment so yay for that!  We dont want any of this to scare anyone because Agnes truly is a dream in a home and really just the bestest girl and anyone would be so lucky to have her!!!March 3, 2026, 3:31 pm
