Story
You won't find a more handsome, intelligent or silly boy than Sidney. He is about 3.5 years old and weighs 84 lbs. Sidney is a very intelligent fellow, he learns quicky and is anxious to please. He will do well with a job and/or a lot of stimulation, long walks and hikes. He will do well with an experienced dog person. Sidney loves meeting new people. He has done well with large dogs he has met, however he is would not be good with small dogs or cats. Sidney does show some barrier reactivity, however, when the barrier is removed (whether it is a crate, fence or car window) he shows absolutely no issues. Because Sidney likes a lot of activity, he will need a securely fenced yard (must be a physical fence, not an electric or invisible system) He is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and on monthly treatment for flea/ticks and heartworm prevention Sidney is currently located in the Middle TN area but transport is included in the adoption fee for approved adopter If you are interested in Sidney, email rookiesrescue@yahoo.com for an application

Story
“The dog lives for the day, the hour, even the moment.” This reminds us of Russ, who savors each day to the fullest and is such a free spirit! Why we love him: Russ is a bouncy, happy-go-lucky dog who is always so glad to be in your company! Russ is a mix of German Shepherd and Coonhound. He is two years old and weighs 64 pounds. Russ has one of those wonderfully expressive doggy faces that looks like he is smiling, and his merry brown eyes reflect his joy for life. He reminds us of a big puppy! Russ is a very enthusiastic companion on walks and is more than glad to help you get your daily exercise. He would be a fine hiking or running buddy, too. Outings in the fenced yard are a great outlet for his abundant energy, and he bounds about in total joy! He especially enjoys playing with the toys. Russ loves games of fetch, too. He has enjoyed play groups with some of his shelter companions. If you have another dog, we do require a meet and greet to ensure compatibility. Lucky Russ has spent time in two foster homes. His first Mom says: "He’s very true to what I’ve read about Coonhounds. Russ loves toys and sticks and has a very playful side. He really enjoys being outside sniffing and searching for adventures. Russ is not very vocal, just when the other dogs get barking, he will add to it. He needs someone that will assist with getting his energy out and directed in a good place. He does also love his sleep! Russ is crate trained and sleeps through the night. He enjoys long naps on his raised dog beds. But when he’s awake, he’s ready to go. Russ is easy to bathe and thinks car rides are a fun time! He would be best in a home with older children. Russ can be selective with dogs because he wants to play hard and not all other dogs appreciate that. A meet and greet is required if you have another dog. He walks really well on a leash and finds a lot of joy in outdoor adventures. Russ can be overstimulated inside, but with structure he’s shown that he can relax inside." His second foster Dad reports: "Russ has had a fun foster visit to our house for Christmas. He got a nice big chew bone in his stocking and a box of Milk Bone biscuits. He loves to sit on the sofa and watch tv in the doggie den but always wants a human to be there with him. He LOVES attention. We have discovered Russ is most comfortable in his kennel at night when we cover it. It calms him down tremendously and goes in when you tell him "go to bed." He is really good friends with my son Hayden who is not allowed to sit in a room where Russ is without getting lots of love from him. Russ also loved meeting my grandhildren. He has really enjoyed playing outside with "Little Buddy" the most. We tossed tennis balls for them for over an hour to wear them out." Russ recently spent a couple days with one of our volunteers who observes: "Russ is a good boy. He just wants to be around people and dogs! He came right in and made himself at home! Russ helped me make lunch, checked out every cupboard and, helped me collect eggs. Russ’s biggest issue is his impulsiveness. We did a lot of nos, downs, and sits. I think if he had a regular home, with consistency and routine, he’d fall in line in a hurry. He does have a LOT of energy and needs plenty of time outside, exploring, and lolling in the sun, Russ would love to have dog siblings !Russ loves being petted and brushed. He sat well to have his ears cleaned. He knows the sit and down commands. Russ now sits respectfully at the door for permission to enter or exit, and he sits to wait for his food dish to be put down. He also lays down to be leashed." Russ also had another great outing with a volunteer. He enjoyed riding in the car, spending time exploring the yard, observing the chickens and meeting the family cat and dogs. Russ would do best in a family who will give him structure, consistency and routine. Russ is a very special dog who will be such a fun family companion! Come meet him and you will see why he is a shelter favorite! E-mail ccacangels@yahoo.com for more information! Please come visit! We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Story
Meet Bebe Looking for a gentle, shy, and oh-so-sweet pup to love? Bebe is your girl! This German Shepherd/Pitty mix has the perfect blend of brains, beauty, and heart. She's great with cats, dogs, and kids, making her a wonderful fit for a loving family. Though she's still learning the ropes of life like potty training and crate training, she shines brightest when she's playing with her siblings or soaking up head scratches and giving kisses. Bebe's story started when her brave mom, abandoned by her owner, found safety at her foster home to give birth. Dad has been faithfully by Mom's side for years, and together they've raised a litter of wonderful pups like Bebe. She may start off a little shy, but once she warms up, you'll see her fun side shine. Bebe loves to run and play with her siblings (she's the fastest of the bunch!) and will happily be your mellow cuddle buddy when it's time to rest. If you're looking for a pup who will adore you as much as you adore her, Bebe is waiting to meet you! Go ahead and submit an adoption application for her now! Favorite toy: Her siblings Best rub spot: Right between the eyes Hidden skill: Outrunning everyone at playtime! $250 Local Adoption Fee (in Texas) $550 Out of State Adoption Fee (includes transportation to your area)

Story
Meet Sara — Your New Best Friend in a Perfectly Trained, 45-Pound Package of Love At just 20 months old, Miss Sara is already proving to be the kind of once-in-a-lifetime dog everyone hopes for—smart, affectionate, eager to please, and now… beautifully trained. Originally adopted as a puppy, Sara was very loved—but when her owner sadly fell ill and could no longer care for her, everything changed. She returned to us with a heart full of love, but without the manners every young pup needs. We knew this girl had potential, so off she went to a professional 3-week training program… and wow, is she showing off. &#226&#156&#133 Training? She’s nailing it. &#226&#156&#133 People? She adores them. &#226&#156&#133 Dogs? Instant besties. &#226&#156&#133 Kids? She belly-crawls just to be close to them—it’s beyond precious. We believe she’s a Dutch Shepherd mix, weighing in at about 45 pounds, with a gorgeous, sleek coat and a heart that beats for human connection. She is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccines—and yes, ready to go! Now, she’s just looking for a home that can match her devotion with love and guidance. Toys are her jam, and she’ll happily entertain herself or join you for a game of fetch. No kitties for this girl, please! Chasing them is just too much fun, and she needs a cat-free home to thrive. Sara is the kind of dog who makes you feel like the most important person in the world. Her loyalty is unmatched, her spirit is bright, and her readiness for her forever home couldn’t be clearer. Interested in giving this beautiful girl her happily-ever-after? Email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com today. Let Sara show you what love, intelligence, and a second chance can really look like. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.June 11, 2025, 9:36 pm
