Spayed or Neutered,
Story
This remarkable dog was discovered abandoned in a rural area where he had endured exposure to the rain for an indeterminate period. Concerned passersby initially suspected he was injured, but upon my arrival, he eagerly hopped into my car and indulged in an entire box of treats. He's proven to be the most entertaining, affectionate, and intelligent companion I've ever encountered. His teeth bear the marks of neglect rather than age-related wear, and we estimate his age to be around 4-5 years. He adores car rides, and walks, and remains a loyal, dependable companion who never strays far. He is fully house-trained, adept at using a pet door, and gets along famously with other dogs. One of his ears has a distinctive appearance due to a past illness or injury that went untreated, but our vet has addressed it, and it appears to be in good condition now, although it will retain its unique appearance. If you're interested in welcoming Knuckles or any of our Funny Farm friends into your home, please visit funnyfarmpets.org to learn more about our Tennessee-based rescue, the adoption process, the comprehensive vetting procedures these pets undergo before they come to your home, and to submit an adoption application. The adoption fee for this pet is $325, and an additional $200 is required for transport. Currently located in a foster home in Tennessee, this pet will be transported to a northern location after the adoption process is finalized. For details on meeting locations and the transport process, please visit the transport tab at funnyfarmpets.org.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Phoenix is a 9 year old German Shepherd mix who lived his whole life in one home before being sadly surrendered due to a change in family circumstances he had trouble coping with. He's an affectionate, intelligent, playful boy who attaches quickly and loves loves loves his person. His previous owner described him as her shadow and she was not wrong! He also enjoys the company of other medium and large sized dogs, but generally likes to be the boss of the relationship. He has not been tested with small dogs. While he has never lived with cats before, he has been pretty accepting of the dog savvy cat in his current foster home. He may chase cats that run or otherwise react to him though. Phoenix is very food motivated, knows several commands, and walks well on a leash. He is also already housebroken and making big strides in crate training after only a few days in his foster home. Per his previous owner, Phoenix is reactive to children playing and would do best in a quiet, breed experienced, adults only home. He has also been diagnosed with kidney disease and is on daily medication and special food to help keep him at his best. Fortunately, being the snack lover he is, he's extremely easy to medicate and gobbles his pill right down with dinner. Phoenix additionally struggles with separation anxiety, but we are hopeful he will continue settling down as he adjusts to all his recent life changes. This sweet boy deserves a new home to call his own, and he will pay you back with all the devotion in the world. If you think he'd be a good fit, please apply. Experience with the breed preferred. *This dogs adoption fee is $175Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in this animal? The first step is an application, which can be completed at www.cvrrescue.org/adoption-applications/. The adoption fee helps cover a portion of the care provided for our animals, including spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm testing for dogs, FeLV/FIV combo testing for cats, deworming, age-appropriate vaccines (including rabies vaccine), and any medical care received while in our care. All cats and dogs are on flea/tick and parasite prevention for the duration of foster care. Notes about puppies: Adopters can expect a new puppy to have accidents, chew things they shouldn't, and have other normal, energetic puppy issues until they are trained, including jumping, mouthing, and general youthful naughtiness. If you experience puppy issues, please feel free to contact us; we’re happy to offer guidance. Also, if a puppy is a mixed breed, we cannot guarantee an adult weight. If your residence has weight restrictions or if you’re looking for a specific adult weight, we don't recommend applying for a mixed-breed puppy. We also offer rehoming services for pets currently owned by individuals. In these cases, we list the animal as a courtesy to the owner, and the animal is not currently in the care of CVRR, such that we can make no representation or guarantee of the animal’s behavior, demeanor, or health assessment. All information listed for a courtesy-posted animal is provided by the current owner and should be verified by any potential adopter. CVRR is a nonprofit organization. We have no paid staff, and all applications are reviewed and processed by our volunteers. Please be patient and understand that it may take 7-14 days to process your application, check your references, and gather follow-up info. You can expedite the process by providing accurate phone numbers and email addresses for your vet and landlord references, and by answering each question fully. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet-and-greet to see if the animal picks you, too. If it seems the adoption will be a good match for all, we will collect the adoption fee and complete the adoption contract. CVRR is a NO KILL rescue organization, and we have a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to all of our animals. If for any reason the adoption does not work out, the animal must be returned to CVRR. We will reevaluate the animal and choose a new home based on the best fit for it. May 3, 2024, 2:51 am

Story
We have a riddle for you guys: A protector, an outdoorsman, and a good boy all walked into the Lynchburg Humane Society. Front desk asks, "kennel for one?"... How is that so? The answer's easy. It was Hans!! Hans is a very handsome, 6 year old German Shepherd. When Hans first came into our care, he was a little nervous at first. We learned quickly that he really comes around after a few meaty treats and has made a ton of friends here! He walks like a perfect gentleman on leash and absolutely loves playing fetch! He really enjoys being outside and would love a home that appreciates a quality walk and soaking in the beauty of nature as much as he does. If his handsome face and puppy dog eyes weren't enough to win you over, Hans is also housebroken! If you'd like to meet Hans, come by the Center for Pets or reach out to his friends on the adoption team at adoption@lynchburghumane.org with any questions!

Story
GSD/Husky/Lab/Catahoula mixFour year old Dexter W. is a mixture of Labrador, GSD, Husky and Catahoula. His former owner’s parents have recently taken him in and he is just too much dog for them. They describe him as “a fun, smart and energetic companion. He loves to be near us and is a loyal best friend who loves to play.”  They believe he would be best with a family with older children or a family of young adults because of his energy level.  He has never been around cats.
