Story
Fostering in Pittsburgh, PA - transport available to her perfect family! 2 years old, 45 lbs, spayed female UTD on vaccines, microchipped, & on monthly heartworm/flea/tick preventatives ✅ Good with men & women ✅ Good with older children ✅ Good with other dogs (requires a companion) ✅ Good with cats - housetrained - crate-trained; does not need to be crated, but needs a crate available as a safe space - shy with new people and takes a while to warm up; once she knows you, she is a sweetheart who will seek affection gently (licks your hand and wags her tail) - no small children as they are too much for her while adjusting to a new environment - will bark and retreat to her crate when unknown (to her) visitors come to your home - Relies heavily on other dogs when adjusting to change or interacting with something/someone new so she will require a confident canine companion - occasionally plays with the other dogs but is low energy herself and prefers dogs who are not constantly in her face seeking interaction - neutral with our cats and doesn't mind them sitting on the leather chair with her or grooming her coat - loves toys and will carry them around the yard or to her crate, she'll tell you she loves plush toys but she will also promptly tear them apart - walks well on leash when accompanied by a person & dog she trusts. Leashes/collars were a foreign concept to her when she arrived and it took her a while to be comfortable with them so she will likely regress a bit with a new family until trust is built. She still gets nervous at times but recovers quickly. She will now go to the door to be leashed with loose body language & a wagging tail when her collar is put on - will require a secure, physically fenced yard *Andy takes daily fluoxetine to help her manage her anxiety. It is about $20 every 2-3 months.*

Story
Ava came to us a 9 week old puppy suffering from Megaesophagus secondary to PRAA. This is a condition in which the esophagus will not move the food down her throat as it should. Ava has surgery to correct her PRAA and it did lessen the severity of her Mega Esophagus but didnt totally correct it. Ava must eat her food after its been soaked and blended in a blender and she needs to eat out of an elevated feeder. She drinks water normally. Ava does have allergies that are controlled with a daily medication.. Ava loves other dogs and cats and children however she's incredibly bossy and rather possessive over things and will growl and snarl at other animals that come near her toy or bone she's chewing. Most of the animals in her foster home ignore her and walk away.. She is potty trained and crate trained. She needs a family that will be diligent on ensuring that no small objects are left where she can get them because they can pose choking hazards for her with her mega E. Please take a few minutes to read up on Megaesophagus to see what it is and what care is required for a dog with the condiotion if you feel you are interested in Ava.

Story
This is Stevie Nicks, a German Shepherd/Lab mix of about 1 ½ years. Stevie is a real cuddler who doesn’t realize she’s not a lap dog! (She weighs 45 pounds!) She’s also energetic and happy.  She can become anxious if left alone, though, so it’s best to crate her then.  This really helps her, and she considers the crate her safe place.  Stevie loves “indestructible” stuffies; they last the longest for her. She loves to play fetch with her balls and knows how to sit and give her paw. Stevie walks great on a leash and we have started bike leash training, but that is still very new for her. Stevie is great with children. Stevie is comfortable around other dogs and loves to play once she is appropriately introduced. She has mostly only interacted with other large dogs her size. Stevie currently lives with a cat. She’s not a huge fan but is more frightened of the cat than anything.  (HS    R 2/11/24))  **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption Fee/Transport Fee: $250.00May 8, 2024, 5:04 pm

Story
A pregnant Sunflower was hours away from euthanasia when we found her in and pulled her out of a kill shelter. She is a beautiful German Shepherd mix who is about 2 years of age and weighs 30 pounds. Now that her puppies have been weaned, Sunflower is ready to find her forever home. She is a clever and good-natured girl who gets along well with other dogs, her foster’s cat, and people of all ages including children. Sunflower is ready to share her love with you! (TN, 2/16/24)     **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption: $395 which covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip and an Alabama State Health Certificate.   Transport, if needed  $160   We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip . We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs.  May 8, 2024, 5:04 pm
