Story
Cliff was saved from a rural shelter north of Los Angeles. He was a staff favorite and came in as a stray. He is great with everyone but he doesn’t know his size, so older kids might be best. His foster family said that he is extremely playful (not hyper-just a young, happy dog), affectionate and wants to be where you are. He is a GIANT lap dog!

Story
We just love this dog, and you will too! This is celosia, AKA Rosie from West valley.  she is 8 years old, very sweet. lives with other dogs. She had a huge mammary tumor and she was scheduled for euthanasia but we saved her! We did surgery to remove the mammary tumor and had her spayed. Now she's ready for forever home. she's been a really amazing dog. she's super friendly with all people and other dogs. she's only 8 years old so she's not really a senior. We can only have so many dogs that are sanctuary if we can get her a home ,we can save a senior dog that needs a sanctuary to spend the rest of its days. She deserve a loving home. please share share share or better yet adopt today. Call or email Susan to meet him today! 818.636.1522 goldenyearsdogsanctuary@yahoo.com ##2058291##

Story
Hi there! My name is Luna, a 7 month old red golden retriever. I found myself at the shelter when my family moved out of state. I already know a couple commads like "sit" and "down". I will do best in an environment where I can get lots and lots of exercise to keep me from bouncing off the walls! I am dog friendly, but I don't know my own strength, so another medium to large dog to teach me the ropes would be nice. I would also be best for families with children 12 and up due to my puppy tendencies! Upper body strength is a must. Are you my forever home?

Story
About Me   Age 3 years....Meet sweet Brut (renamed Lalu by his previous owners) whose heart overflows with love and constant tail wags.  Lalu was born in rescue when we took in his pregnant mama, Bubbles.   Unfortunately his adoptive family had to move out of the country and couldn’t take Lalu with them.  Lalu is now navigating the big world with the support of our rescue team and is ready to navigate the world with you. He is looking for a family that currently has a calm canine as he has lived most of his life with another dog and benefits from their companionship!   Lalu is great  with adults, older children, and other dogs. He wants to ensure his people don’t go too far and will follow you around the house.  He truly wants to please so may even help you with chores (wishful thinking)! He’s a gentle fella when taking treats and he is very intelligent! He will stand at the door if he needs to go out and maybe give you a little yelp to let you know he’s ready. Lalu knows basic commands like sit, stay, come, no, and focus.  He is quite the athlete retrieving tennis balls and even juggling a soccer ball.    When indoors, Lalu is a mellow guy. He is content with snuggling up next to you on a couch, or lounging while you work. Outdoors, he enjoys walks and exercise, especially in the evenings when he’s more energetic. He does have quite a strong prey drive.  Rabbits and squirrels are his nemesis, so he will pull on his leash when they cross paths and chase them out of your yard. This means that his backyard will be a rodent-free zone!  Given this, Lalu would not do well in a home with small furry friends (i.e, no cats).   Lalu’s leash skills are very good, and while he might still bark and pull a little at close dog encounters, he re-directs very well and moves on. Our team has introduced him to the Gentle Lead which has further enhanced his leash skills. His adoptive family will want to continue his leash training to keep him on his path to being the best canine companion! Did we mention, he LOVES HIS HUMANS!!!!   While Lalu enjoys companionship, he’s learning to be comfortable on his own. Being left alone can make him express his initial frustration with a few barks or whines, and his foster family has been patiently teaching him coping mechanisms. Having a canine companion is one of these coping mechanisms which is why we are hoping he can find a forever home that will give him not only a loving family, but also a four legged friend ready to help him experience new adventures and keep him company when his humans need to leave him alone.   While in foster care, Lalu enjoys socializing at doggie day care — he engages really well with canine friends and comes home one tired pup!   This smart boy isn’t just quick to learn, he’s got the energy to match. Lalu quickly picks up your cues, which makes training him a breeze. Although he is low energy most of the day, he is a very athletic dog. Daily runs, hikes, and adventures are his jam, not only keeping his body fit but keeping him relaxed. So, if you crave a running or hiking buddy, Lalu is your pup!   My Ideal Home   Lalu is a very sweet dog that loves humans. His ideal home includes an owner who is patient and has the time to dedicate to continue building his confidence. He would do best with an owner who works from home. Lalu loves children so we expect that he would be fine in a home with older children (10 years and older). He loves the company of another calm canine companion in the home so this is at the top of his wish list.  A yard where he can play and get exercise is another plus.   Want to Adopt me?   If you believe your home is the perfect match for Lalu, please make sure you have first submitted an adoption application and completed your home interview with a SCGRRescue Volunteer. Then, tell his personal representative (aka Rep) more about why you are a great match via email at inmemorychief@gmail.com  Please note:  We are only able to cover and adopt out to residents of Southern California.  Adoption Fee:  $600.00 May 20, 2024, 11:48 pm

Story
Hi! My name is Tomo, and I am IN SOUTH KOREA waiting to be matched to a home in Los Angeles! I was rescued from the dog meat trade in South Korea by the DoVE Project. My fate would have been to live in fear and distress, watching dogs being led to slaughter for human consumption. DoVE Project heard about me, and now I am looking for my forever family! ID/NAME: CARE23-054 / Tomo SEX/WEIGHT/AGE: Male / 60.6 lbs / 8 years BIRTH DATE: April, 2015 BREED: Golden Retriever SPAY/NEUTER/VACCINATIONS: Spayed. Vaccinations complete. Health/physical characteristics: Tomo’s teeth are notably decayed and missing. Scratch marks on his nose. Six claws on each hind leg. BEHAVIOR: Kind and beautiful Tomo is still carrying a sad trauma from his past within him. Tomo is timid around people, especially strangers. Tomo prefers to sit somewhere by himself or with other timid dogs. When around other dogs Tomo happily roams around and plays with the other dogs. Due to Tomo’s age, he is not as playful as the other younger dogs, but he likes to join in when he can. Tomo is pretty good on a leash, he really enjoys exploring new places and is a good companion for walks. Tomo has not been in a foster home yet. SIBLINGS/FAMILY: Unknown BACKGROUND: When Tomo was rescued, he was unhealthy and severely malnourished, requiring veterinary care. After receiving care, he seemed to revel in being clean, having meals, and in living in better conditions. ABOUT JINDOS Jindos are known for their fierce loyalty, high intelligence, rarely barking, and playful nature. They make great indoor family dogs, as Jindos are clean and easily housetrained, and are faithful to family members. They are also mid-level active and love being socialized at dog parks, going on hikes, and joining the family on trips. ABOUT OUR DOGS DoVE dogs come from a traumatic background such as dog meat farms and slaughterhouses. While many of our dogs acclimate within a few months with consistency, structure, and patience, some of our more sensitive dogs can take longer to rehabilitate. It's important to note that these sensitive dogs are even more attuned to human emotions and behavior, making for a deeper connection human-dog connection. DoVE Project is committed to helping our adopters desensitize and socialize our dog meat trade survivors. ********************************* DoVE Project operates a shelter in South Korea, where our dogs stay until they are matched with an adopter. In the US, our dogs stay in foster homes or in boarding, as we do not have a physical facility. These dogs are identified with "in LA" in their names. Please note that we only adopt our pups in the Southern California area. Please check our website for more information regarding our adoption process, our mission, and adoption application: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-process If you are interested in adopting, please complete an online application at: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-application-form.
