We sprung Danny from the shelter in San Diego where he came in as a stray in dire need of some TLC. He was severely malnourished at 30lbs underweight with wounds and cuts to his as well as skin and ear infections. Despite everything, this boy has been an absolute love. He is friendly and relaxed with people, happy to interact with dogs, and a real homebody. He is incredibly loving and trusting, and we’re already seeing glimpses of his playful curiosity, gentle energy, and even some signs of past training. He walks beautifully on a leash, takes treats with the sweetest enthusiasm, and shows a natural sense of polite behavior. He has not yet had an introduction to kids or cats, but from his demeanor it is likely he will be friendly with both. Danny would do best in a home with multiple adults that will minimize his alone time as he acclimates to his new life.

He stayed at a private shelter for several months and moved to his foster home in June. Since then, he has blossomed into the most affectionate, people-loving Golden boy. ‍‍‍ Socialization with People Denny is an incredibly affectionate dog who loves everyone — familiar people and strangers alike. • He leans in for pets, rubs against people, and loves belly rubs. • He is excellent with children under 13 and is comfortable being lifted or handled gently. • Even with new people, he often rolls over to show his belly. • He enjoys being near people during downtime, though he prefers sleeping alone. • He can be very enthusiastic — sometimes running in for hugs or kisses, which can surprise those not used to big friendly dogs! • No issues with baths, paw cleaning, or handling. About Me Hi, I’m Makai. I'm 2 years old, and I came to SCGRR last year after a good samaritan helped me get off the streets. I’d been living with a person who struggled with addiction and had to learn to fend for myself. Since coming to SCGRR I’ve learned how wonderful it is to be in a home with people, plenty of food and a warm bed. I’ve been through a lot, and I’m still learning how to be the best dog I can be. People tell me I’m a big boy weighing in at 90 pounds. My people are working to give me training, but sometimes I forget how big I can be. For this reason, I probably shouldn’t be in a house with young kids. As I had to fight a bit on the streets, I’m not really fond of other dogs and really want to be your one and only. In return, I will give tons of love and laughs, and probably even a bit of protection. I love to be near my humans; it’s my favorite thing in the world. I like to greet new people, and I’m getting used to how nice it feels when they’re gentle with me. I’m really good in the car, and I’m learning to walk on a leash in the yard. At this point my trainer is recommending that I not going on walks out of the yard as I’m not very good at meeting other dogs. I like to play with bouncy balls. I also sniff around the counters, but my humans have made sure I can’t find any tasty surprises there. I really just want a quiet house to rest in and a yard of my own to play in. My Ideal Home I’m a big guy, so I need a yard where I can run around and play. I would do best in a home without children, just because I’m still learning how to be gentle with my size and I’d never want to accidentally hurt anyone. I want to be your only one so please no other dogs, cats or animals. If you have the patience to help me learn and grow, I promise to give you all the love and loyalty I have.
