Story
Lady Guinevere may not be royalty but she has a charm that will win you over. She has a smile that lights up a room and wears her ear tuffs like a crown. This sweet Golden Retriever is about 3 1/2 years old and could stand to lose a few pounds (hey it happens). We think she going to be a marvelous companion dog. She is dog friendly, but cats are unknown. She's new to us and settling into her foster home, but if ear tufts are your jam this gal might be the one for you. Head to our website to learn more about the rescue and how to adopt.

Story
Do you have a taste for popcorn – well then, meet Popcorn! He is a gorgeous 2-year old Golden Retriever who is young, energetic, and curious. Rescued from a shelter, he is now ready to find his family. Popcorn knows sit, down, walks fairly well on a leash and as a typical retriever likes to play ball, however, he will need training with his new family to become the best he can be. He is 62 pounds, vaccinated, chipped and neutered. Popcorn is a beautiful boy looking for that special someone who will make him part of the pack.

Story
Hi! My name is Tomo, and I am IN SOUTH KOREA waiting to be matched to a home in Los Angeles! I was rescued from the dog meat trade in South Korea by the DoVE Project. My fate would have been to live in fear and distress, watching dogs being led to slaughter for human consumption. DoVE Project heard about me, and now I am looking for my forever family! ID/NAME: CARE23-054 / Tomo SEX/WEIGHT/AGE: Male / 60.6 lbs / 8 years BIRTH DATE: April, 2015 BREED: Golden Retriever SPAY/NEUTER/VACCINATIONS: Spayed. Vaccinations complete. Health/physical characteristics: Tomo’s teeth are notably decayed and missing. Scratch marks on his nose. Six claws on each hind leg. BEHAVIOR: Kind and beautiful Tomo is still carrying a sad trauma from his past within him. Tomo is timid around people, especially strangers. Tomo prefers to sit somewhere by himself or with other timid dogs. When around other dogs Tomo happily roams around and plays with the other dogs. Due to Tomo’s age, he is not as playful as the other younger dogs, but he likes to join in when he can. Tomo is pretty good on a leash, he really enjoys exploring new places and is a good companion for walks. Tomo has not been in a foster home yet. SIBLINGS/FAMILY: Unknown BACKGROUND: When Tomo was rescued, he was unhealthy and severely malnourished, requiring veterinary care. After receiving care, he seemed to revel in being clean, having meals, and in living in better conditions. ABOUT JINDOS Jindos are known for their fierce loyalty, high intelligence, rarely barking, and playful nature. They make great indoor family dogs, as Jindos are clean and easily housetrained, and are faithful to family members. They are also mid-level active and love being socialized at dog parks, going on hikes, and joining the family on trips. ABOUT OUR DOGS DoVE dogs come from a traumatic background such as dog meat farms and slaughterhouses. While many of our dogs acclimate within a few months with consistency, structure, and patience, some of our more sensitive dogs can take longer to rehabilitate. It's important to note that these sensitive dogs are even more attuned to human emotions and behavior, making for a deeper connection human-dog connection. DoVE Project is committed to helping our adopters desensitize and socialize our dog meat trade survivors. ********************************* DoVE Project operates a shelter in South Korea, where our dogs stay until they are matched with an adopter. In the US, our dogs stay in foster homes or in boarding, as we do not have a physical facility. These dogs are identified with "in LA" in their names. Please note that we only adopt our pups in the Southern California area. Please check our website for more information regarding our adoption process, our mission, and adoption application: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-process If you are interested in adopting, please complete an online application at: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-application-form.

Story
About Me   Age 3 years....Meet sweet Brut (renamed Lalu by his previous owners) whose heart overflows with love and constant tail wags.  Lalu was born in rescue when we took in his pregnant mama, Bubbles.   Unfortunately his adoptive family had to move out of the country and couldn’t take Lalu with them.  Lalu is now navigating the big world with the support of our rescue team and is ready to navigate the world with you. He is looking for a family that currently has a calm canine as he has lived most of his life with another dog and benefits from their companionship!   Lalu is great  with adults, older children, and other dogs. He wants to ensure his people don’t go too far and will follow you around the house.  He truly wants to please so may even help you with chores (wishful thinking)! He’s a gentle fella when taking treats and he is very intelligent! He will stand at the door if he needs to go out and maybe give you a little yelp to let you know he’s ready. Lalu knows basic commands like sit, stay, come, no, and focus.  He is quite the athlete retrieving tennis balls and even juggling a soccer ball.    When indoors, Lalu is a mellow guy. He is content with snuggling up next to you on a couch, or lounging while you work. Outdoors, he enjoys walks and exercise, especially in the evenings when he’s more energetic. He does have quite a strong prey drive.  Rabbits and squirrels are his nemesis, so he will pull on his leash when they cross paths and chase them out of your yard. This means that his backyard will be a rodent-free zone!  Given this, Lalu would not do well in a home with small furry friends (i.e, no cats).   Lalu’s leash skills are very good, and while he might still bark and pull a little at close dog encounters, he re-directs very well and moves on. Our team has introduced him to the Gentle Lead which has further enhanced his leash skills. His adoptive family will want to continue his leash training to keep him on his path to being the best canine companion! Did we mention, he LOVES HIS HUMANS!!!!   While Lalu enjoys companionship, he’s learning to be comfortable on his own. Being left alone can make him express his initial frustration with a few barks or whines, and his foster family has been patiently teaching him coping mechanisms. Having a canine companion is one of these coping mechanisms which is why we are hoping he can find a forever home that will give him not only a loving family, but also a four legged friend ready to help him experience new adventures and keep him company when his humans need to leave him alone.   While in foster care, Lalu enjoys socializing at doggie day care — he engages really well with canine friends and comes home one tired pup!   This smart boy isn’t just quick to learn, he’s got the energy to match. Lalu quickly picks up your cues, which makes training him a breeze. Although he is low energy most of the day, he is a very athletic dog. Daily runs, hikes, and adventures are his jam, not only keeping his body fit but keeping him relaxed. So, if you crave a running or hiking buddy, Lalu is your pup!   My Ideal Home   Lalu is a very sweet dog that loves humans. His ideal home includes an owner who is patient and has the time to dedicate to continue building his confidence. He would do best with an owner who works from home. Lalu loves children so we expect that he would be fine in a home with older children (10 years and older). He loves the company of another calm canine companion in the home so this is at the top of his wish list.  A yard where he can play and get exercise is another plus.   Want to Adopt me?   If you believe your home is the perfect match for Lalu, please make sure you have first submitted an adoption application and completed your home interview with a SCGRRescue Volunteer. Then, tell his personal representative (aka Rep) more about why you are a great match via email at inmemorychief@gmail.com  Please note:  We are only able to cover and adopt out to residents of Southern California.  Adoption Fee:  $600.00 June 5, 2024, 10:12 pm

Story
About Me  Age:  1 year...Meet Ren, lovingly referred to as Stanley in his foster home. This charming boy came to us after getting dropped off in a high kill shelter. While not our typical golden, we didn’t have the heart to risk leaving him in the shelter. He shows his love and appreciation every day and has been referred to by his foster mom as “the sweetest dog ever”. Whether it’s cuddles, kisses, or just a warm snuggle, he’s always eager to show his love in the most heartwarming ways.  At approximately 1 year old, Ren is showing us he is a quick learner, but still requires training. He’s learned sit and wait in his foster home and is currently working on shake. He appears to be potty trained and even will tap on the sliding glass door to indicate when he wants to go out. That said, he has had two accidents in the house in a spot where a prior dog also had an accident, indicating his keen sense of smell.  That keen sense of smell also seems to come out with a strong prey drive. He is obsessed with the squirrels in his yard. We aren’t sure if this is a result of his foster sibling’s obsession or a trait he came with.  Ren loves walks and will go, go go. Unlike some dogs who may dawdle and sniff, he’s always on the move, ready to explore the world around him with enthusiasm. He does get a bit overly enthusiastic however when seeing other dogs and his foster has been working on helping him ignore other dogs he encounters.  When it comes to playtime, Ren fully enjoys his toys and chewing on a marrow bone. For such a young pup, he’s surprised his foster by knowing what he can play with and what he can’t. He’s not destructive and, just as good, he’s not a barker. He’s really just a great dog looking for his perfect forever home.  My Ideal Home  Ren’s ideal home is one where the owner has some experience to continue his training and the ability to ensure he gets socialization opportunities to grow into his best self. Another well behaved dog in the house to show him the ropes would be great, but if someone is home with him most of the time to give him plenty of attention, he’d likely do well as an only dog. He’s currently living with a small dog in his foster home, but given his prey drive, he may not do well with a cat or other small animals in his home.  Want to Adopt me?  If you believe your home is the perfect match for Ren, please make sure you have first submitted an adoption application (https://scgrrescue.org/adoption-app/) and completed your home interview with a SCGRRescue Volunteer. Then, tell my personal representative, D’lorah, more about why we are a great match via email at scgrr.adopt@gmail.com.  Thank you so much for considering welcoming Ren into your home and heart.  Please note:  We are only able to cover and adopt out to residents of Southern California.  Adoption fee:  $900 June 5, 2024, 10:12 pm

Story
About Me  Age:  20 months...Meet Makai, a puppy in a big boy body! Dumped on the streets of OrangeCounty by his previous owner, Makai has been through a lot but despite the challenges, is still full of joy and enthusiasm. He loves all the people he meets and would be happy if life was just one big party with him as the guest of honor. Makai loves toys and enjoys emptying his toy box, choosing one to chew, toss or roll around. Inside the house he is curious and adventurous but not at all destructive. He is potty trained and lets you know when he wants to go outside. He is very affectionate and loves belly and ear scratches and his tail rarely stops wagging. One of our rescue training partners worked with Makai to help him learn some basics like “keep all 4 paws on the floor”, “crates can be a comfy and secure place to hang out”, “how to take a treat nicely” as well as the beginning stage of “loose leash walking”. He’s a smart boy and is making great progress as he continues his training in his foster home. He would prefer to be IN the kitchen but is highly treat motivated and is learning to lie in wait outside the kitchen. He sleeps in his crate overnight and is happy to take a daytime nap in the crate if his humans need to leave the house. He enjoys training games and knows “shake”, “sit”, “down”, “wait” and “fetch”. His new family will need to continue his training with positive methods so he can continue to be a happy, relaxed and well balanced dog. A yard would be a prized possession for Makai since he loves to run and chase balls. Outdoors Makai plays with tennis balls, Jelly balls, soccer balls, tug games and occasionally digs holes (but is easily redirected) as well as just hangs out in the sun or shade watching the world go by. Makai is strong on the leash, so having a yard for him to get some zoomies out before a walk would be a plus. He does best with a front clip harness and understands both “let’s walk” and “go sniff” when walking outside the yard. Makai would be better as your one and only. He likes some dogs but gets bad vibes from others. As far as kids are concerned, Makai loves them, but younger, smaller kids will probably not appreciate his efforts to engage them. He can still be mouthy when you have something he would like you to share with him. For this reason, kids closer to age 11/12 and confident around dogs would be best for Makai’s forever home. Makai is a big, affectionate, fun-loving pup who is hoping to find a family committed to helping him become the awesome companion we know he can be. Makai will need a handler who can manage a large, strong pup. Someone who is home a lot and would love to continue the positive training that he is currently receiving. A single family home with a yard would be best to get his zoomies out. Cats are unknown but he would likely chase them for fun.  My Ideal Home  Makai’s ideal home would have a large yard for him to roam and get his zooms out. He would like to have someone home most of the time. He loves his walks and is doing really well with a loose leash. Makai would be best in a home with no other dogs. Makai loves following you around and hanging out with you.  Want to Adopt me?  If you believe your home is the perfect match for me, please make sure you have first submitted an adoption application and completed your home interview with a SCGRRescue Volunteer.
