Story
Blossom is a 4-year-old female Golden Retriever, 55 pound beauty who’s as sweet as honey and just beginning to bloom. True to her name, she’s all about fresh starts and gentle growth. 🏠 Our dogs are located in foster homes throughout Southern California ➡️ Adoption Application: https://frrescue.knack.com/db#adopter-application/ Blossom has a loving, easygoing nature and a playful side—she especially enjoys balls and squeaky toys. She’s very food motivated (and a bit of a voracious eater!), which makes her both fun and eager to please. She gets along well with other dogs and has lived with young children. On walks, she’s easy on the leash but needs a refresher on walking in a straight line, which keeps things interesting! As she recovers from her recent spay, her fosters are easing her into short walks to build her strength—go too far, and she may need to be plucked for a “ride” home.  Blossom is still decompressing, but she’s already showing what an affectionate, resilient and joyful gal she is. She’s ready to show her true colors over the next few weeks so stay tuned for any updates.

➡️ Adoption Application: https://frrescue.knack.com/db#adopter-application/ This handsome Golden Retriever is named Abbott because he's a bit of a comedian - spend a little time with him and he'll have you laughing in minutes. Given this, and his need for continuing education, we couldn't help but make the connection to the show Abbott Elementary whose themes align with this beautiful Golden Retriever: 1) Untapped Potential: Abbot's high energy and personality invites the need for guidance and structure. 2) Growth Through Guidance: Abbott is making progress with patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement. 3) Good Intentions, Imperfect Execution: Abbott's well-meaning nature is sometimes expressed in chaotic or comedic ways. 4) Joy Amid Chaos: Abbott brings laughter and warmth even while testing boundaries. 5) Supportive Environment Matters: Abbot thrives when given encouragement, understanding, and clear expectations. While he knows sit and down and takes treats oh-so-nicely, he still needs to curb some of his excitable behaviors, counter surfing, begging, and mouthiness. He is a big, handsome boy weighing about 100 pounds and would benefit from losing a little extra weight...especially since he thinks he's a lap dog. He's 2 years old and a confident, happy, curious, loving dog. Abbott sleeps in his crate at night and loves hanging out in it too. Belly rubs are one of Abbott's favorite past times and he enjoys chasing the water stream from a hose.  Abbott was lovingly surrendered to us by his family who cared for him deeply, but after welcoming a new baby, they realized Abbott wasn’t getting the exercise and mental stimulation he needs to thrive. If Abbott sounds like the star pupil you've been looking to share your home with, fill out an application.

Story
This is a bonded pair who will be adopted together. It is being adopted through Southern California Golden Retriever Rescue. To apply, go to https://scgrrescue.org/pets/mckinley-maximilian/ Meet McKinley & Maximilian — Double the Gold, Double the Love! Looking for two dogs who will love you endlessly, follow you everywhere, and make every day brighter? Meet McKinley and Maximilian, two golden-hearted brothers who define the term Velcro dogs! These petite Golden Retriever mixes are the ultimate lovebugs — affectionate, goofy, loyal, and happiest when they’re glued to their humans. These sweet boys have been through a lot of changes — from shelter life to boarding, to a home, and back again — but through it all, their spirits have stayed golden. They were once left outside for 10 hours a day, which just doesn’t suit dogs who live for companionship. McKinley and Max don’t want to be backyard dogs; they want to be family dogs — right beside you for movie nights, morning walks, and afternoon naps. Now in a foster home, they’re thriving indoors and soaking up all the love they can get. They’ve done beautifully with other dogs and even enjoy hanging out with older kids (tested for ages 7 and up). Both are young, smart, and food-motivated, so training has been a breeze — especially with their new Gentle Leaders, recommended by a behaviorist. They’re already showing great improvement on walks! These two are the perfect mix of playful and cuddly — they love a good game of fetch, but they’ll melt into you for snuggles afterward. McKinley and Max would be happiest in a home where someone is around most of the time and ready for double the affection (and maybe double the dog hair ). If you’ve been dreaming of loyal companions who will never let you feel lonely, these golden brothers are your guys. They’ll bring joy, laughter, and unconditional love to any home lucky enough to have them. Ready to meet your new shadows? Come fall in love with McKinley and Maximilian — we promise, it won’t take long!

Story
About Me  Hi, I’m Makai. I'm 2 years old, and I came to SCGRR last year after a good samaritan helped me get off the streets.   I’d been living with a person who struggled with addiction and had to learn to fend for myself.    Since coming to SCGRR I’ve learned how wonderful it is to be in a home with people, plenty of food and a warm bed.   I’ve been through a lot, and I’m still learning how to be the best dog I can be.    People tell me I’m a big boy weighing in at 90 pounds.   My people are working to give me training, but sometimes I forget how big I can be.   For this reason, I probably shouldn’t be in a house with young kids.   As I had to fight a bit on the streets, I’m not really fond of other dogs and really want to be your one and only.    In return, I will give tons of love and laughs, and probably even a bit of protection.   I love to be near my humans; it’s my favorite thing in the world. I like to greet new people, and I’m getting used to how nice it feels when they’re gentle with me.  I’m really good in the car, and I’m learning to walk on a leash in the yard.  At this point my trainer is recommending that I not going on walks out of the yard as I’m not very good at meeting other dogs. I like to play with bouncy balls.  I also sniff around the counters, but my humans have made sure I can’t find any tasty surprises there.  I really just want a quiet house to rest in and a yard of my own to play in.  My Ideal Home  I’m a big guy, so I need a yard where I can run around and play. I would do best in a home without  children, just because I’m still learning how to be gentle with my size and I’d never want to accidentally hurt anyone. I want to be your only one so please no other dogs, cats or animals.   If you have the patience to help me learn and grow, I promise to give you all the love and loyalty I have.  I would really benefit from continued training.  I just want to spend my life with my forever human. Will you be that person?  Want to Adopt me?  If you believe your home is the perfect match for me, please make sure you have first submitted an adoption application (https://scgrrescue.org/adoption-app/) and completed your home interview with a SCGRRescue Volunteer. Then, tell my personal representative (aka Rep), more about why we are a great match via email at scgrr.adopt@gmail.com   Please note:  We are only able to cover and adopt out to residents of Southern California.  Adoption fee:  $600.00 February 24, 2025, 10:20 am

Meet Alex Male DOB: June 15, 2024 Weight: 50 lbs Breed: Golden Retriever / Poodle Mix (Goldendoodle) Neutered (Fixed) Vaccinated Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Alex is the kind of dog who will love you with his whole heart from the very beginning. This sweet boy came to us as an owner surrender, and while we may never fully understand his past, one thing is clear—Alex is ready to move forward and give his love to a family who will truly cherish him. He deserves stability, kindness, and a home that will never let him go again. Personality Alex is incredibly sweet, loving, and people-oriented. He enjoys being around his humans and has a gentle, affectionate nature that makes him easy to fall in love with. He’s the type of dog who will happily stay by your side, whether you’re relaxing at home or enjoying time together outdoors. Breed Info As a Golden Retriever / Poodle mix, Alex combines the best of both breeds—intelligence, loyalty, and a loving temperament. Goldendoodles are known for their friendly nature and eagerness to please, making them wonderful family companions. Alex will benefit from continued guidance, structure, and regular activity to keep him happy and balanced. Ideal Home Alex would thrive in a home that is ready to fully commit to him for life. He is still young and will need continued structure, routine, and love as he grows into his best self. A family that has time for him, includes him in daily life, and understands the responsibility of a lifelong commitment will be the perfect match. Owner Responsibilities Alex will need daily exercise, mental stimulation, routine, and ongoing training. Like all dogs, he requires proper nutrition, grooming (especially as a poodle mix), and regular veterinary care. Most importantly, he needs a family that will provide consistency, patience, and love. Things to Consider Before adopting, please ensure your home, schedule, finances, and lifestyle are ready for a dog. Make sure all household members are prepared for the responsibility and commitment. Alex is looking for a forever home, not a temporary one. The 3-3-3 Rule 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With time and patience, Alex will truly shine. Veterinary Care Alex is fully vetted, but we always recommend bringing him to your own veterinarian after adoption to continue his care. Important Note Alex is an indoor family dog. He is not to be chained or left outside. Story
We have had Chestnut (10) in our family for about eight years. I found him at a park one day and he ended up following me all the way home. We searched for his owners for weeks and made sure he received all of his shots but no one ever claimed him so he became a permanent part of our family. Chestnut is a Golden Shepherd and Cocker Spaniel mix and has the sweetest most gentle temperament. He is very calm and affectionate and truly just wants belly rubs cuddles and treats. Chestnut enjoys both indoor and outdoor time and adapts easily to different environments. He is very friendly with other dogs and currently lives with another dog Benji (5) who is a Doberman and Beagle mix. They are extremely close and balance each other well with Chestnut being more laid back and Benji having higher energy. If possible we would love for them to stay together as they have formed a strong bond. Chestnut is food motivated and does well on a dry food diet with occasional wet food and plenty of treats.
