Story
Meet Gota, a 5 year-old Mixed Golden Retriever, born in November 2018. Gota has a heart of gold, a smile that never fades, and a gentle demeanor. She is sweet, loving and smart. Recently, Gota faced a health challenge when she was diagnosed with epilepsy 2 months ago. However, with proper medication, her seizures are now completely under control, allowing her to live life to the fullest. Currently, I'm faced with challenging circumstances after losing my job at 26 years old. In the past, I've had the privilege of either working remote or receiving support from family. Unfortunately, I don't have that anymore and will need to be away from home for long stretches. I want Gota to receive the time and care she deserves, and I'm afraid I won't be able to do that for her anymore. My hope is to find a loving family or individual who will embrace Gota as their own. All she needs is a bit of patience and her daily pill. In return, she will shower you with endless love and warmth.

Story
Hi! My name is Tomo, and I am IN SOUTH KOREA waiting to be matched to a home in Los Angeles! I was rescued from the dog meat trade in South Korea by the DoVE Project. My fate would have been to live in fear and distress, watching dogs being led to slaughter for human consumption. DoVE Project heard about me, and now I am looking for my forever family! ID/NAME: CARE23-054 / Tomo SEX/WEIGHT/AGE: Male / 60.6 lbs / 8 years BIRTH DATE: April, 2015 BREED: Golden Retriever SPAY/NEUTER/VACCINATIONS: Spayed. Vaccinations complete. Health/physical characteristics: Tomo’s teeth are notably decayed and missing. Scratch marks on his nose. Six claws on each hind leg. BEHAVIOR: Kind and beautiful Tomo is still carrying a sad trauma from his past within him. Tomo is timid around people, especially strangers. Tomo prefers to sit somewhere by himself or with other timid dogs. When around other dogs Tomo happily roams around and plays with the other dogs. Due to Tomo’s age, he is not as playful as the other younger dogs, but he likes to join in when he can. Tomo is pretty good on a leash, he really enjoys exploring new places and is a good companion for walks. Tomo has not been in a foster home yet. SIBLINGS/FAMILY: Unknown BACKGROUND: When Tomo was rescued, he was unhealthy and severely malnourished, requiring veterinary care. After receiving care, he seemed to revel in being clean, having meals, and in living in better conditions. ABOUT JINDOS Jindos are known for their fierce loyalty, high intelligence, rarely barking, and playful nature. They make great indoor family dogs, as Jindos are clean and easily housetrained, and are faithful to family members. They are also mid-level active and love being socialized at dog parks, going on hikes, and joining the family on trips. ABOUT OUR DOGS DoVE dogs come from a traumatic background such as dog meat farms and slaughterhouses. While many of our dogs acclimate within a few months with consistency, structure, and patience, some of our more sensitive dogs can take longer to rehabilitate. It's important to note that these sensitive dogs are even more attuned to human emotions and behavior, making for a deeper connection human-dog connection. DoVE Project is committed to helping our adopters desensitize and socialize our dog meat trade survivors. ********************************* DoVE Project operates a shelter in South Korea, where our dogs stay until they are matched with an adopter. In the US, our dogs stay in foster homes or in boarding, as we do not have a physical facility. These dogs are identified with "in LA" in their names. Please note that we only adopt our pups in the Southern California area. Please check our website for more information regarding our adoption process, our mission, and adoption application: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-process If you are interested in adopting, please complete an online application at: https://www.dove-project.org/adoption-application-form.

Story
About Me  Langston found his way to SCGRRescue when his family moved out of the country and couldn’t take him. His foster family describes Langston as “a perfect dog in almost every way.” He is sweet, loving, affectionate, and playful but it will take time for Langston to settle into a new home and to feel like he can completely relax and trust his new family. Once he does, you will have a sweet, happy, tail-waggly best friend for life who just wants to please! Langston has lived peacefully with cats in his prior life, plays well with other dogs, and would do best in an adults-only home.  Langston is completely potty trained, crate trained (although it’s been used sparingly), and does not counter surf…although he DOES sometimes look at you with his big, puppy dog eyes when food is involved! He is very smart – he knows his left from his right paw, can “high five,” and responds well to redirection when needed.  We believe he is a Golden/herding breed mix, which means he has some energy and loves to work, so he will not do well simply left unattended in the backyard. Rather, Langston needs a family who will spend a lot of time with him and who will offer mental stimulation and physical activity. When this is provided, he will wait patiently and is not destructive when left alone at home for a few hours.  During his time in rescue, Langston has been working on some anxiousness around the front door and meeting strangers with ease. He has done beautifully in dog play groups but is anxious on leash when he sees other dogs. He has been working with a trainer on these issues, and has been making huge strides thanks to his diligent foster parents who consistently work on his established training protocols. We hope that his forever family will continue the work that we started in order to give Langston the best life possible.  My Ideal Home  Langston requires a quiet, adults-only, low-key home that doesn’t get a lot of action or visitors. He needs a family who will spend a lot of time with him, chill with him and play with him. A backyard would be ideal. No apartments for this guy as it would be too stimulating for him at the moment. His family should be committed to continuing his training. He could be an only dog or with another well-balanced, well-socialized dog. Cats should be ok but always be cautious when introducing a dog to cats in a new home for safety.  Want to Adopt me?  If you believe your home is the perfect match for me, please make sure you have first submitted an adoption application and completed your home interview with a SCGRRescue Volunteer. Then, tell my personal representative (aka Rep) more about why we are a great match via email at Luvsallpupsicles99@gmail.com Adoption Fee: $650.00 Please note: We are only able to cover and adopt out to residents of Southern California.   March 13, 2024, 12:40 pm

Story
About Me   Age:  3 years....Meet sweet Brut who’s heart overflows with love and constant tail wags. Brut spent the majority of his life as part of a bonded pair but was separated when his owners had to make the heartbreaking decision to separate the two due to a move overseas. Brut now finds himself for the first time navigating this big world solo without his constant companion and is looking for a family (and canine playmate) to help fill that void.   Brut has shown to be a good companion with adults, teens, and other dogs. He wants to ensure his people don’t go too far and will follow you everywhere and help with chores (wishful thinking). He’s a gentle fella when taking treats, loves to please his humans and is very intelligent. He will stand at the door should he need to go out and maybe give you a little yelp to let you know he’s ready. Brut knows basic commands like sit, stay, come, no, focus and is quite the athlete retrieving tennis balls or juggling a soccer ball.   While indoors, Brut is a mellow guy and is content to snuggle up next to you on a couch, or lounge while you work. He enjoys walks and is receiving positive reinforcement to help him manage his pulling, especially in the evenings when he’s more energetic. He’s making good strides in this area. Driven by a powerful instinct to chase, Brut wouldn’t fare well in a home with small furry friends (IE: no cats). Rabbits and squirrels are his nemesis so he will pull when they cross paths but while at home, his backyard becomes a rodent-free zone.   Brut’s leash skills are a work in progress, and while he might still bark and pull a little at dog encounters, it’s all part of his growing confidence. The right family, with a bit of patience and continued training, will witness Brut transform into a leash-loving, cuddly companion.   Brut isn’t a fan of solo home time. Being left alone can make him express his frustration with a few barks. His foster family has been patiently teaching him coping mechanisms, and he’s making great progress in this area. Brut would love another canine companion!…but, if that’s not in his future, his forever home will need to continue with this positive reinforcement training to help him become more comfortable with being on his own as well as letting him experience new adventures.   While in foster care, SCGRR has sent Brut to doggie day care where he does really well with canine friends and comes home one tired pup!   This smart boy isn’t just quick to learn, he’s got the energy to match. Brut quickly picks up your cues, making training a breeze. Although Brut is low energy most of the day, he is a very athletic dog. Daily runs, hikes, and adventures are his jam, not only keeping his body fit but also easing his anxiety. So, if you crave a running or hiking buddy, Brut’s your pup.   My Ideal Home   Brut would excel in a home with patient humans who will invest in his training. An owner who works from home provides ideal companionship, offering regular breaks for cuddles and walks. While Brut adores children, older youngsters (10+) who respect his space are best for him. While Brut needs to learn to navigate the world on his own, a canine playmate, similar to his foster brothers (he did live with a female Golden in his prior home), would be a dream come true for Brut, offering him both confidence-building and playful adventures with a new buddy.   Want to Adopt me?   If you believe your home is the perfect match for me, please make sure you have first submitted an adoption application and completed your home interview with a SCGRRescue Volunteer. Story
About Me  Age:  2 years.  If there is anything better than a wonderfully sweet and affectionate Golden Retriever, it’s two wonderfully sweet and affectionate Golden Retrievers! Meet bonded pair Hendrix and Gianna! These two sweethearts were found as strays by a good Samaritan and surrendered to SCGRR. And they are unquestionably bonded and inseparable. You have not lived until you’ve seen these two play with each other, wrestle, and rough house together, they even prefer to sleep in the same crate together!  Our vet estimates both to be about two years of age and are in good health. While skinny when found as strays, both are now at a good weight with our boy Hendrix at 66 pounds and our girl Gianna at 61 pounds. Being young Golden’s they are indeed very playful, particularly Hendrix. He is definitely a chewer and needs to have plenty of chewable toys and treats around. He absolutely loves bones and will contently gnaw on his “mammoth” bone. It is a great release for him and eventually mellows him out. Gianna loves her chew toys and her favorite thing to do is play tug-o-war with a sock! When not chewing their toys, they love to simply run and chase each other in the yard, chasing tail and biting ears, that is when they are not on the sofa getting a belly-rub! When in the house, they prefer to be by your side, at your feet, or next to you on the sofa getting hugs and being petted.  They are both comfortable in their crates, although they usually prefer to be in the same crate, one right next to the other. They are 95% house trained, with only a very infrequent accident, not unusual given their new home and surroundings. Gianna is the calmer of the two, and exceptionally sweet. Hendrix is super sweet as well but is more energetic and does not know his own strength. He will benefit greatly from someone willing to take the time to give him more training.  My Ideal Home  Our ideal home would have a backyard where we can run and play together, and a mom and dad that are active and willing to give us walks and the exercise we need to be happy. Since we are young and active, we do not want to be left alone for a long length of time, so someone home during the day or working from home would be best for us. We have plenty of love to give and do not want to keep it all inside until our mom and Dad come home. We would love to have children to play with us, but not too small as we do not want our exuberance to ever be a problem. We are looking forward to walks, hikes, adventures, a comfy sofa and bed, and of course, lots of affection!  Want to Adopt me?  If you believe your home is the perfect match for us, please make sure you have first submitted an adoption application and completed your home interview with a SCGRRescue Volunteer. Then, tell my personal representative (aka Rep) more about how you can meet our needs and why we are a great match via email at tonyluvsgoldens@gmail.com  Adoption fee for the pair:  $1,800.00  Please note that we are only able to cover and adopt out to residents of Southern California. March 13, 2024, 12:40 pm

We rescued this sweet little girl, her 8 littermates and her mama off the streets a few weeks ago. Mom is a golden retriever but clearly whoever dad was, he had some strong genes! She is now 8 weeks old and ready for her furever home! Purdy is an absolute love and one of the quieter ones in the bunch. She is super patient with her siblings, but she is definitely more interested in playing with the big dogs! She has started to learn how fun toys are and now will regularly run for the toy basket when let out of the playpen. Purdy is a precious little girl and she can’t wait to find her furever people!! McCaffrey is super affectionate and one of the first babies to run right up to the playpen gate when a person is in sight. He is very typical puppy and loves to play and explore, but after some fun you will find him taking some self care time in a comfy bed away from the chaos! KC would be best in a home with another dog so they can both be a great mentor and help to put her in her place when her diva tendencies go a little too far. She is incredibly smart and already knows sit! She would participate in puppy school all day if you let her. She loves her snacks! Story
Meet Mufasa!  He was chained outside of an auto body shop for a long time. Neighbors heard him crying and reached out for help.  Luckily a wonderful woman was contacted and she convinced the owner to surrender Mufasa and thankfully the owner said yes! Thank you to her for helping care for Mufasa until we were able to step in. Mufasa is one amazing, big puppy! He is 2 years old and 87 pounds. Mufasa is a social butterfly and so sweet! He loves playing with other submissive dogs but after living outside for most of his life he is still figuring out how to share resources. He would do best as an only dog with patient people willing to show him that resources are not limited, while also giving him plenty of outside social opportunities Mufasa is in need of a foster or foster to adopt home without other dogs. Mufasa's adoption fee is $800 Questions can be emailed to danelle@roversretreat.org
