Story
*PLEASE NOTE: The first step is to complete an adoption application on our website roversretreat.org * KC is ready for her furever family! We rescued this adorable girl, her 8 littermates and her mama off the streets a few weeks ago. Mom is a golden but dad is unknown. She is now 9 weeks old and can’t wait to meet her furever people. KC is full of playful energy and so much fun. She’s not afraid to tell the boys who’s boss and has some major diva energy going on. We just love her! KC would be best in a home with another dog so they can both be a great mentor and help to put her in her place when her diva tendencies go a little too far. She is incredibly smart and already knows sit! She would participate in puppy school all day if you let her. She loves her snacks! This lil cutie is going to be a fantastic addition to the right family. She is goofy, cuddly and has the biggest personality! If you’re interested in adopting KC please head our website to complete an adoption application! roversretreat.org *PLEASE NOTE: KC is being fostered in Torrance and her adoption fee is $600*

Story
Meet Lloyd, the golden retriever with a heart of gold! This 3 1/2-year-old boy has had quite the journey before finding his way to our rescue. Despite bouncing around to three different owners and even experiencing a brief stint in the shelter, Lloyd's spirit remains unbreakable. He's a survivor, having miraculously escaped a car accident with no major injuries. LLoyd is a strong and tall boy. He weighs 71 pounds and has boundless energy. Lloyd is learning to walk nicely on leash. He gets so excited to see people and other dogs and sometimes pulls. Lloyd will need consistency and practice with leash training. Lloyd's love for people and other dogs knows no bounds. He's a social butterfly, always ready to greet everyone with a wagging tail and a smile. Energetic and full of life, Lloyd enjoys outdoor adventures and playtime. Now, Lloyd is searching for a forever home where he can finally put down roots and receive the love and security he deserves. He's longing for a family who will cherish him, shower him with attention, and make him feel like the special boy he is. If you're looking for a loyal companion who will fill your life with joy and endless love, look no further than Lloyd. If you think Lloyd is the boy for you please complete an adoption application at roversretreat.org Questions can be emailed to Danelle@roversretreat.org

Story
Introducing, Zippy AKA Tucker, a true gentleman.  He was recently rescued from the shelter. Now it's time to find him a furever home! Zippy is approximately 8 years old and 73 pounds It takes him a little time to warm up, but once he does, he's a sweet and loyal companion who sticks to you like Velcro. While he adores plush squeaky toys and walks nicely on a leash, he can get a bit reactive when he sees other dogs, simply because he's eager to make new friends. Zippy is slowly learning to be comfortable alone at home, and after a brief protest, he settles in just fine. He has been a fantastic house guest.  Zippy has been respectful and not destroyed anything in the home. Zippy will do best in a home with or without another dog.  Zippy is not cat friendly he tends to chase cats. Somebody will be very lucky to adopt Zippy! He is the perfect furry friend for someone seeking a loyal and affectionate companion.  If you think Zippy is the dog for you please complete an adoption application at roversretreat.org Zippy's adoption fee is $400 Questions can be emailed to danelle@roversretreat.org

Story
Meet Emily, a precious 1 1/2 year old golden girl who came to us after her family developed allergies to her and her 2 golden brothers. Unfortunately she spent most of her time in their backyard, so wasn’t exposed to much before coming into rescue. In a very short time, Emily has learned the pleasures of being a full member of a family. She loves walks, playing with toys, and hanging out with her foster doggie brother. Once she settles in, Emily loves human attention and being petted is the greatest comfort for her. She is a very loving girl. However, she will need humans who understand she is initially timid and will need time to feel safe and comfortable. She has lots of energy to play and run around, but she is also able to settle down nicely. Emily gets two 1 mile walks a day currently. She is a moderate energy girl. She gets along very well with other dogs, and takes great comfort from them. We will be looking for another dog in her forever home to help continue building her confidence. Emily learns new things quickly and would benefit from a family that enjoys training their pup. She loves to learn and is happy to do it. Emily can get spooked by new noises and new situations she hasn’t been exposed to before, including car rides, so she will need patience and positive reinforcement to support her. If you feel Emily could be a good fit for your family, please fill out our adoption application. Questions can be directed to Nancy at nancy@roversretreat.org

Story
Meet Alice, a sweet and gentle 7 year old golden girl who recently came into rescue. Her life prior to rescue was not happy nor glamorous…Alice was kept in a back yard for most of her life was also used for breeding and had a litter not that long ago.  Her life has changed for the better since joining our rescue, and we are looking for a family who will love and cherish her as a full fledged family member. Alice is living with 3 big dogs - 2 Goldens and a Samoyed - in her foster home and is not bothered by them at all. She completely ignores them.  She hasn’t had any interested in playing yet, but cohabitates with them wonderfully.  She doesn't have a mean bone in her body for anyone or anything.   Alice hasn’t shown any interest in toys, balls or bones yet either. However, we think in her new home if she was the only dog or with another older dog, she might have interest in a ball for a little bit each day in the backyard. She has lived with a cat in her foster home and she ignores her too, so cats in her new home would be just fine.  Alice has sensitive skin and will need a high quality food that is not grain free.  She is enjoying her lamb kibble with a little wet food mixed in presently. She isn’t a big eater, but does enjoy her treats! She has a tendency to put most of her mouth into the water bowl, so in her new home we recommend a smaller water bowl where she cannot do that as her chin gets a bit raw from the water. As to house training, the first day she had an accident which is absolutely typical as dogs learn where you want them to go, but since then she follows her foster mum outside each morning and every few hours to the grass and will potty there if she needs to. She is a quick learner. Her forever family should plan on following this same approach as she learns another new home/yard. Alice would love to go on leisurely walks with her new family. Care needs to be taken when leaving the home without her, as she will try to follow you out the door, but once you leave she will look out the door for a little wile and then go lay right back down again.   She can be left at home just fine for a few hours a day if needed. Alice is not a huge fan of car rides, but she will go and whines initially but then settles.  She can get car sick so best if she goes on car rides that she has not been fed recently. She will not jump up into the car, so you will need to lift her or get a ramp.  At night time, she sleeps right next door to her foster mom on the floor and does not stir all night.  Alice's favorite thing is just to be by the side of her person. She is Velcro and will come sit next to you wherever you are. If you want a dog to sit under your desk while you work, she's it.   Alice knows sit, and will come when you call her name.   She only needs a gentle voice - a loud home would not be for her.  Her favorite thing is when you pet her.  Alice's perfect home would not have young children - she is fine with kids and likes them a lot, but we think she needs and deserves a calmer lifestyle now.  She needs to go to a place she can call her home and be loved and treated gently, calmly, and kindly and get some ear scritches and gentle kisses on her head.   Alice is not going to be the dog to jump in the pool, go on long hikes, or chase a ball for hours - she’s kind, quiet, and loving and will need the exact same from her new home and family. If Alice sounds like the one for you, please complete our adoption application on our website. Questions can be directed to Nancy@roversretreat.org
