Story
Sven wakes up happy every single day. He’s the kind of dog that always seems to be smiling, always ready for whatever comes next, and always excited to be part of things without becoming overwhelming or chaotic. Sven is a one-year-old mix breed who has the coat and face of a golden retriever and the compact build of a heeler. He has a great middle-ground personality that makes him easy to live with. When it’s time to play, go for a walk, or hang out with other dogs, he’s fully in. But once the excitement is over, he settles down nicely instead of endlessly bouncing off the walls. He gets along great with dogs of all sizes and has a naturally social, easygoing personality that helps him fit into just about any environment. Sven has the fun energy people want in a young dog without the constant intensity that can make some high-energy breeds exhausting. Good fit: someone wanting a happy, social dog that enjoys activity but also knows how to relax and settle into daily life. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $500 (includes transport + vetting) Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, MD, NY, NJ, VT Think you might be a good fit? Story
Dani Fifa | Gentle, Kid-Friendly & So Worth the Wait! Some dogs run straight into your arms. Dani Fifa needs a little time to decide that your arms are a safe place to land. Give her that time, though, and you'll discover an incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate girl who has so much love waiting underneath that initial uncertainty. Dani is estimated to be around 1 year old and weighs approximately 55 lbs. She's a beautiful Golden Retriever with long, incredibly soft, true golden fur and the most darling smile that completely transforms her face when she's happy and comfortable. Watch Dani in action on YouTube, then come right back to read more! Dani was found with eight puppies by her side. For the last month and a half, she's been fostered alongside her babies, and have found their forever homes. She's spent this chapter of her young life being a devoted and protective mama, so it's understandable that she still approaches unfamiliar people and situations thoughtfully. New environments can make Dani nervous at first, but she's shown us just how adaptable she can be when she's allowed to settle in at her own pace. She doesn't need anyone to force a friendship. Soft voices, gentle approaches, patience, and a little reassurance go a long way with this girl. She seems to warm up particularly quickly to men, although she does well with women too. Once Dani realizes she's safe, her sweet and affectionate personality really begins to shine. One of the things that impressed us most about Dani was just how wonderful she was with young children. She spent time with children ranging from 16 months to 5 years old and handled them beautifully. One particularly special interaction was with a 4-year-old who is typically very apprehensive around dogs. Within just minutes of meeting Dani, she willingly approached her on her own, gently petting her and giving her back scratches. Dani remained calm, tolerant, and incredibly gentle throughout the interaction. Seeing a child who is normally so cautious around dogs feel comfortable with Dani so quickly spoke volumes about her naturally soft presence. As always, interactions between dogs and young children should be respectful and supervised, but everything Dani has shown us so far suggests that there's a remarkably patient and gentle dog underneath her initial shyness. With other dogs, Dani seems happiest around companions who can respect her space. Very energetic or pushy dogs can overwhelm her, and rather than escalating, Dani's response is typically to move away and find somewhere quieter. She could do well with another friendly dog who enjoys playing but also knows when it's time to relax. She also seems more comfortable meeting other dogs through thoughtful, off-leash introductions. Her introduction to our dog-savvy rescue cat was similarly cautious. Dani showed some curiosity and started to approach, but quickly changed her mind and retreated underneath a table instead. She never displayed concerning behavior toward the cat, but because she mostly chose avoidance, we consider her cat test inconclusive and would want additional testing before confidently recommending her for a home with cats. Dani has even had a brief, supervised introduction to chickens! She remained leashed and did well during the interaction, but because her exposure was limited, a home with poultry would still require careful management and slow introductions. At home, Dani is a quiet girl who does well in her crate and is already doggy-door trained. She takes food incredibly gently and has shown that she's comfortable sharing. Her leash skills could use some polishing, but she's smart and responsive, and we think she'll thrive with patient, positive training that continues building her confidence. And if you really want to see Dani happy, take her outside! The outdoors seems to be where she can truly relax. She loves having room to move around, explore, and simply enjoy being a dog. A home with a securely fenced, decent-sized yard where she can run and spend time outside would be a wonderful fit for her. Dani is spayed and ready for the next chapter of her life—one where she doesn't have to spend all of her energy looking after eight babies. She's spent long enough being the mama who watches over everyone else. Now she deserves someone willing to look after her. Dani may need a little more time than some dogs to feel completely at home, but she's already shown us how beautifully she can adapt when she's met with patience and kindness. Behind that initial hesitation is a wonderfully affectionate, tolerant, soft-hearted dog who wants to feel safe enough to let her guard down. Give Dani a little time. Approach her gently. Let her learn that she's safe and loved. Once she does, you'll get to meet the incredibly sweet Golden girl who was there all along! Zelda is a sweet and playful pup in need of a larger space/yard and ability to be exercised. She was raised with a cat, dog and children. She loves playing fetch and has taken basic obedience classes. She is crate trained, house broken, and knows basic commands (sit, wait, drop it, lie down, free, touch) but needs additional leash training She is highly treat-motivated and eager to learn/please. She gets very excited and vocal when on leash and when she sees other people and dogs. Someone who is willing to take the time and patience to work with her on leash or an experienced dog owner is recommended. Zelda is pretty chill with moderate level energy levels. Please reach out with any questions to see if Zelda is a good match for you!
