Story
Meet Whiskey – Your Happy, Fun-Loving Gentle Giant Hello! My name is Whiskey, and I’m a 1½-year-old female Great Dane with a heart as big as my paws. Life has changed so much since I first arrived at Central Arizona Animal Rescue, and I’m thrilled to share my story with you. If you’re looking for a dog who’s full of love, resilience, and joy, keep reading—because I might just be the perfect match for you! From Scared and Unsure to Thriving and Joyful When I was first surrendered, I didn’t know what was happening. My world had turned upside down, and I was scared and unsure of everything around me. But thanks to the kindness and patience of the amazing people at the rescue, I’ve blossomed into a confident, happy girl who loves life! Every day brings new adventures, and I’m ready to share those adventures with my forever family. What Makes Me Special I’m a true gentle giant—big in size, but even bigger in heart. I absolutely adore playing and hanging out with other dogs. Whether it’s romping in the yard or relaxing together after a fun day, I’m happiest when I have furry friends around. If you already have dogs at home, that’s a huge bonus because I’ll fit right in! And guess what? I recently attended an adoption event, and I was AMAZING with kids of all ages! Gentle, patient, and sweet—I loved every minute of meeting new friends. It was such a fun day, and it showed everyone just how loving and adaptable I am. Social Media Star When the rescue first posted me on Facebook, I blew up the page! My big personality and adorable face brought in dozens of inquiries. Unfortunately, only one person came to meet me, and while they decided not to adopt, that just means my forever family is still out there waiting for me. Could that be you? My Health and Training Here’s what you should know about me: Great with other dogs – I love having furry friends! Wonderful with kids – I’ve proven I can be gentle and loving. Healthy and ready to go – I’m spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Still learning leash manners – I’m eager to learn and will thrive with consistent training. I’m young, strong, and full of energy, so I’ll need a family who’s committed to helping me continue my training. Walking nicely on a leash is still a work in progress, but I promise I’ll try my best. With your guidance and patience, I’ll become the perfect walking partner. Why Adopt Me? Great Danes like me are known as gentle giants. We may look imposing, but our hearts are soft. I dream of being your loyal companion, your couch buddy, and your walking partner. I want to greet you with happy tail wags when you come home and rest my head in your lap when the day is done. If you give me a chance, I’ll give you unconditional love in return. Ready to Meet Me? If you’re looking for a dog who has been through hard times but still believes in brighter days, please consider me. My name is Whiskey, and I’m waiting at Central Arizona Animal Rescue for the family who will finally make me feel at home. Ready to meet me? Email mike@caaronline.org to set up an appointment. I can’t wait to start our forever together! Love, Whiskey PLEASE e-mail (do not call) mike@caaronline.org for more information and to set up an appointment to adopt. Story
Meet Charlie, a magnificent 4-year-old Great Dane with the biggest heart! Charlie lives up to the nickname Velcro in the best way possible; he is incredibly loyal and will happily be your shadow, following you from room to room just to be close. He has a wonderful, protective presence and is a great guard dog who will certainly let you know if someone is at the door! When he's not on guard duty, Charlie is a playful boy who also happens to be a world-class couch potato, always ready for a good snuggle session. He has a ton of character and will bring endless joy and laughter to his new family. Special Considerations: Dietary Needs: Charlie is a picky eater and has enjoyed a home-prepped diet his for 1yr. His ideal family will be willing to continue preparing his meals or work on a smooth transition to a high-quality kibble. Avenues for Improvement: He is a sensitive soul and can be afraid of new things (even something as simple as a box can block his path!

Story
Characteristics: Milo has shown to be a very sweet, lazy boy. If he had it his way, he'd be laying in the sun all day, preferably with his dog besties. We believe his is a Great Dane mix due to his long face and body, as well as the tone of his bark. He is socialized with both people and dogs, but can be uneasy meeting dogs who are nervous or standoffish. Background: Milo came to us as a shelter bypass dog from PACC, at only six months old. His background is unknown, but shows some characteristics of being taken from the litter too early. He has been with us for a year and a half now, waiting for his forever home. Current progress: Milo has been around a lot of other dogs at Como, but has a hard time adjusting to the constant stimulus. He has undergone basic obedience training (sit, stay, no), and will wait for his food very politely. He is crate trained, and potty trained. Cat tested: Upon request Kids: Older children, young children upon request On leash: Can pull, very receptive to training. Behavior concerns: Milo is food excitable, different to resource guarding, but still should be separated from other dogs in the home when feeding. He is also very puppy-like in his play language, likely due to being separated from the litter too early. He can be a little nippy when excited but has not shown intent to escalate the behavior. Training receptiveness: Very high food drive, high toy drive. Can be a bit puppy-like during play. When you adopt a dog from Como Animal Works, you are provided free boarding as a courtesy and comfort of the dog being familiar with our facility. We also provide free training sessions on-site or at the home while the dog is transitioning to home life. Our goal is to help keep dogs out of overcrowded shelters and provide much needed dog socialization during that time.
