Story
Yuma is a handsome 5-year-old Great Dane in the care of Big Hearts for Big Breeds, and he’s the kind of gentle soul who quietly wins your heart. Neutered, potty trained, and kennel trained, Yuma is a well-mannered boy who does well with other dogs and children. Yuma can be a bit shy at first, preferring to observe and take things in until he knows he’s safe. Once that trust is built, his sweetness shines through — a calm, affectionate Great Dane who simply wants a soft place to land and a family who will offer patience, kindness, and consistency. Yuma is ready for a loving home where he can finally relax and be cherished for the wonderful dog he is.

Story
Cliff is a handsome 1½-year-old fawn Great Dane who recently joined the Big Hearts for Big Breeds family in our New Mexico foster program. This sweet young boy is settling in beautifully and is ready to find a forever home where he can continue to thrive. Like many young Danes, Cliff is still growing into his giant frame and doesn't always realize just how big he is! Because of his enthusiastic nature, he would do best with children ages 8 and up who can comfortably enjoy life with a lovable oversized companion. Cliff is potty trained, kennel trained, and has excellent house manners. He gets along well with other dogs and seems to especially enjoy the company of female dogs. He's also cat-friendly, making him a wonderful candidate for many multi-pet households. With his affectionate personality, handsome good looks, and sweet disposition, Cliff is everything people love about young Great Danes. He's looking for a family ready to embrace the fun, loyalty, and occasional goofy moments that come with sharing life with a gentle giant. If you're searching for a well-mannered young Great Dane who's already off to a fantastic start, Cliff may be the perfect addition to your family. Big Hearts for Big Breeds can't wait to help this wonderful boy find the forever home he deserves.

Story
Clay is a beautiful Great Dane puppy who came into the care of Big Hearts for Big Breeds at just two months old. With his striking blue eyes and classic double merle coloring, this little guy is impossible not to fall in love with. Like any puppy, Clay is full of curiosity, wonder, and the promise of an exciting future. Because Clay is a double merle, the rescue team is paying close attention to his hearing and vision. Many double merle dogs are born with congenital hearing and/or vision impairments, but we're encouraged by his initial assessments and hopeful that he will not face those challenges. As Clay continues to grow, we'll keep monitoring his development to ensure he has every opportunity to thrive. Right now, Clay is busy doing what puppies do best—learning about the world one adventure at a time. He'll benefit from positive socialization, gentle training, and a family committed to helping him grow into the confident, well-mannered Great Dane he's meant to be. Clay is available through our foster-to-adopt program and will be neutered and receive all age-appropriate vaccinations while in the care of Big Hearts for Big Breeds before his adoption is finalized. Whether he grows into a typical Great Dane or a very special-needs ambassador for the double merle community, one thing is already certain: Clay is deeply loved, incredibly deserving, and ready to find the forever family that will cherish him for exactly who he is.

Story
Emerald, lovingly known as Emmy, is a 2½-year-old Great Dane with a heart full of love and a bright future ahead. She has recently returned to the care of Big Hearts for Big Breeds after her previous family realized she wasn’t quite the right fit for the structure of their home. While that chapter has closed, Emmy is ready for a fresh start with a family that understands her needs and sees the incredible dog she’s becoming. Emmy is a sweet, affectionate girl who truly thrives with routine, consistency, and clear expectations. She’s the kind of dog who blossoms when she knows what’s expected of her, and she forms deep bonds with the people she trusts. Because she missed out on important socialization early in life, Emmy has worked hard to build her confidence. She successfully completed a board-and-train program where she gained valuable skills and learned to navigate the world with more assurance. She is potty trained, kennel trained, and continues to do best in an environment that provides structure and positive leadership. Emmy would be happiest in a home with older children (14+) and another large, well-mannered dog that can help model appropriate behavior. She can be a bit bossy with canine friends, so adopters with large-breed experience who understand dog dynamics will help set her up for success. With patience, guidance, and a calm, knowledgeable family, Emerald has all the ingredients to become an exceptional companion. Big Hearts for Big Breeds knows her perfect match is out there—someone who will appreciate her intelligence, celebrate her progress, and give her the loving, stable home where she can continue to shine for years to come.
