Story
I am 69 lbs, and I am looking for my forever home. Adoption Donation: $500 I am deaf! Aussie is a large, loving girl with an even bigger heart. She’s incredibly affectionate and thrives on being close to her people, always ready to share her time, attention, and plenty of cuddles. Aussie is deaf, but don’t let that fool you — she’s clearly intelligent, attentive, and eager to please. She watches her people closely and picks up on cues quickly, making her a wonderful candidate for continued training and bonding through hand signals and positive reinforcement. She does well with other dogs and all kinds of people, and once she chooses you, get ready for full-time love and devotion. Aussie is ready to be someone’s loyal, constant companion and fill her future home with affection every single day. All dogs are microchipped, neutered, current on all vaccines, heartworm tested (if age-appropriate), and up-to-date on preventatives at the time of adoption. All household members and any dogs from the household need to be present to be able to adopt. A photo ID will be required at the time of adoption. Appointments are recommended. All applications are considered general. Specific animals are NOT put on hold for adoption. When you visit, our adoption counselors will be able to make suggestions based on the type of pet you are looking for and help you find the best fit for your family. Animal House Shelter cannot guarantee the breeds of the adoptable animals. The animals are posted on the website as the breed or breed mix based on their physical characteristics they most resemble. We also cannot guarantee the ages of our adoptable animals or how large puppies will be when fully grown. We look forward to seeing you soon! Story
A few years ago, this sweet girl was found dumped along the fence of our rescue! She was skin and bones and needed immediate help, so we named her MayDay. Our best guess is she around 6 or 7 years old and a Great Dane/ Staffshire terrier mix. She is very gentle, loves people, and really enjoys car rides. Mayday gets along with males, but is not very playful with other dogs. She would do best as the only fur baby in the home. Since she has been a kennel dog her whole life, MayDay is not pot trained so she will need a family who understands that. This dear girl would love a chance to live out her days in the comfort of a home with a family who will love her! If you want to give MayDay that chance, find us at https://www.tailsoftheforgottenpaws.org/ to fill out an application or on facebook (tails of the forgotten paws)

Story
Mr Loyal! That is what describes this boy in one word. Romo was once owned by someone in Aruba who then moved to the Netherlands. They gave him to some friends that let him roam the streets. We found him strolling along at a bus stop with a huge hematoma on his ear. He jumped right in the car and we took him to the vet. He had surgery and has now recovered from it. We were asked to take him with us to the US as the new owners didn't have the means to take care of him. Romo is an extremely loyal dog, calm and quiet and at the same time friendly with people and dogs. He's is extremely well mannered. Call us to hear about him and learn why we think he is the most loyal dog. His previous owner says he is 4 years old ( the vet says 5) and if you look on our Facebook page you will see all his posts about him. Oh and yes he loves riding in the car with you. He is house broken, does not like the cage to much, but that's ok. He doesn't get himself in trouble in the house. This is a great big dog! He mostly looks like a Great Daner, but could also have some Labrador in it. He is not a drooler like the Danes are. He likes other dogs but will also do well when being just with his special person. We would like to adopt him out within 40 miles of Elgin. His adoption fee is $350 to help us with the cost for his plane ride and the associated vet expenses.

Story
Fern is a quiet and gentle 126 pound, 4 year old, Great Dane and she is looking for a family to call her own! She is great with other dogs, fine with cats (and chickens!) and great with children. What a delight! She will approach new people with caution, but she can always be won over by pets :) Fern is working on basic training. She's doing well with potty training and making strides walking politely on a leash. She absolutely loves napping on a comfy dog bed and will happily make sure it's secured to the ground with her body weight! She's pretty low energy overall, but she does enjoy a good meal or a good stroll. Fern is generally an easy-going gal who is just looking for a patient home where her people will let her decompress while she gets into the swing of things. Let us know if you'd like to meet this big, beautiful girl by submitting an application! Fern's adoption fee is $750 which includes the cost of gastropexy.

Story
Lennon is just big lovebug! Snuggling up near her people is her favorite thing. She loves her human foster siblings and likes to be with them for all the activities. Like a typical Great Dane, she is a little nervous meeting new people, but she leans in for attention quickly! She’s pretty indifferent to other dogs but people are her jam. She is looking for a family who will teach her all the things she missed out on in her first three years of life. Someone who is home a lot and ready to train a 100+ pound baby would be ideal! She’s already making progress with potty training, and she loves to sniff around. She has even started playing with toys! Lennon wants nothing more than a comfy bed, a few belly rubs, and a family to call her own for the rest of her days! Let us know if you are it! Lennon's adoption fee is $750, which includes the price of gastropexy
