Story
Lennon is just big lovebug! Snuggling up near her people is her favorite thing. She loves her human foster siblings and likes to be with them for all the activities. Like a typical Great Dane, she is a little nervous meeting new people, but she leans in for attention quickly! She’s pretty indifferent to other dogs but people are her jam. She is looking for a family who will teach her all the things she missed out on in her first three years of life. Someone who is home a lot and ready to train a 100+ pound baby would be ideal! She’s already making progress with potty training, and she loves to sniff around. She has even started playing with toys! Lennon wants nothing more than a comfy bed, a few belly rubs, and a family to call her own for the rest of her days! Let us know if you are it! Lennon's adoption fee is $750, which includes the price of gastropexy

Story
Mr Loyal! That is what describes this boy in one word. Romo was once owned by someone in Aruba who then moved to the Netherlands. They gave him to some friends that let him roam the streets. We found him strolling along at a bus stop with a huge hematoma on his ear. He jumped right in the car and we took him to the vet. He had surgery and has now recovered from it. We were asked to take him with us to the US as the new owners didn't have the means to take care of him. Romo is an extremely loyal dog, calm and quiet and at the same time friendly with people and dogs. He's is extremely well mannered. Call us to hear about him and learn why we think he is the most loyal dog. His previous owner says he is 4 years old ( the vet says 5) and if you look on our Facebook page you will see all his posts about him. Oh and yes he loves riding in the car with you. He is house broken, does not like the cage to much, but that's ok. He doesn't get himself in trouble in the house. This is a great big dog! He mostly looks like a Great Daner, but could also have some Labrador in it. He is not a drooler like the Danes are. He likes other dogs but will also do well when being just with his special person. We would like to adopt him out within 40 miles of Elgin. His adoption fee is $350 to help us with the cost for his plane ride and the associated vet expenses.

Story
Meet Chico! This handsome Great Dane mix puppy is sure to steal your heart with his beautiful coat and those adorable tall ears that always seem to be listening for the next adventure. Chico is an energetic boy who wakes up ready to take on the day, whether that means playtime, learning something new, or spending time with his favorite people. Chico’s foster says he is incredibly intelligent and already picking up on training quickly. He has learned to “sit and wait” patiently when receiving his meals, and he even rings the bells on the patio door to let his foster know he needs to go outside—how smart is that? He is also currently working on crate training and continuing to build his good manners. When it’s time to play, Chico is all in! He especially loves plush toys and will happily spend time tossing them around or carrying them proudly. He’s a very sweet boy who truly enjoys being around his people and would love a home where he can be part of the fun and grow alongside his new family. If you’re looking for a smart, playful, and loving puppy to share your days with, Chico might just be your perfect match! 🐾 Stop in and meet Chico in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.

Story
Larry is a 2 year old black and white Great Dane. He is currently 120 pounds but his ideal weight is 132 pounds. When he was taken from a home in southern Indiana due to neglect in January, he was only about 80 pounds. He is very food motivated and requires a slow feeder dish. He is good with large and small dogs but may benefit from a female friend, he would also do well as an only dog. We are not aware how he would do with cats but has a low prey drive and is very curious and friendly. He is neutered and up to date on all his vaccines. Larry wants to be with his people, has mastered the Dane lean, and wants nothing more than to cuddle with you. He is crated when no one is home and does not seem to mind. Due to his size, living with adults or children 12 and over is recommended. Larry rides well in the car, knows how to sit and shake, is still learning what toys are and is an absolute love bug. He walks well in a harness and will need continued training to blossom into his best self. A benign growth was removed from his back left foot and is healing well. If you are looking for a loyal dog who is happy to play outside, explore on walks with you, or just chill in the house and snuggle, Larry is your guy! If you would like to meet this dog, please call Teri at 630-897-7454. The adoption fee is $275. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming

Story
Hi, I’m Dudley.   I’m not quite ready to be adopted, but you can come back here occasionally to check my progress and find out when to submit an application. Dog’s Name: Dudley Location: Wadesville, IN Date of Birth: 03/16/2023 Gender: Male Breed: Great Dane Color: Black Dog's Weight: 108 Training: Leash trained: Walks loose on leash Car:  Rides Well in car Meet Dudley Dudley is a super sweet boy.  He has a gentle, affectionate nature and forms strong bonds once he feels comfortable.  He seems to have a soft spot for women and may take a little extra time to warm up to men, but with patience and kindness, Dudley’s loving personality really shines through.   Dudley also has a fun, playful side! He loves toys and enjoys playtime, making him a great mix of cuddly companion and playful pup. Because he forms such strong bonds, Dudley would do best with an adopter who is patient during the initial adjustment period and understands that building trust takes time. Once that connection is made, he will reward you with endless affection and loyalty. We are still learning what Dudley’s ideal home looks like in terms of other dogs and environment, but his sweet nature makes him a wonderful candidate for a variety of homes willing to give him the love and security he deserves. If you’re looking for a devoted companion who will truly become your shadow and your best friend, Dudley might be your perfect match.
