Story
A few years ago, this sweet girl was found dumped along the fence of our rescue! She was skin and bones and needed immediate help, so we named her MayDay. Our best guess is she around 6 or 7 years old and a Great Dane/ Staffshire terrier mix. She is very gentle, loves people, and really enjoys car rides. Mayday gets along with males, but is not very playful with other dogs. She would do best as the only fur baby in the home. Since she has been a kennel dog her whole life, MayDay is not pot trained so she will need a family who understands that. This dear girl would love a chance to live out her days in the comfort of a home with a family who will love her! If you want to give MayDay that chance, find us at https://www.tailsoftheforgottenpaws.org/ to fill out an application or on facebook (tails of the forgotten paws)

Story
Meet Oreo, a 1-year-old male Great Dane/Black Labrador Retriever mix who is looking for his forever home! He is a big, lovable boy, weighing in at 70 pounds. He has a striking black and white coat, just like the cookie he's named after, and he's just as sweet. Oreo has a zest for life and is always happy and looking to have some fun! He is very strong on the leash, so his adopters should be comfortable handling a dog of his size and strength. Dont worry! We can show you how to manage him on leash. He would love a big yard where he can run and play all day long. His favorite thing to do is play tug and fetch! Oreo continues to work hard on his basic manners training. He's still trying to master loose leash walking, as he's still a young dog and a work in progress. But he loves his training time, knows sit and down, and with consistency, he'll quickly learn how to be a well-behaved companion. While Oreo did okay with kids in his previous home, he can be jumpy and mouthy at times, especially when he's super excited. Oreo also doesn't love sharing his highly prized items, so we recommend that any children in the household be over 12 years of age. Overall, Oreo is a smart and affectionate dog who will make a great companion for an experienced adopter who can provide him with the love, patience, and training he needs. If you're looking for an active and fun-loving dog, Oreo might just be the perfect match for you and he's here waiting to meet you! For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. Oreo is an all-star dog, and his adoption appointment includes a discussion with the training team, as well as a few enrichment goodies to help get you both off to a good start. To learn more about Oreo or to schedule an appointment to meet him, please email info@ahconnects.org (including your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to assist you.

Story
We are searching for a knight in shining armor (or a warrior princess) to rescue this particular Duke.We estimate that Duke John is about 11 years old and 112 pounds of sheer handsome beauty, very loving, and majestic as all get out. He loves to cuddle, would be happiest getting non-stop petting, knows a whole bunch of commands, is housebroken, and stays off the furniture unless invited. A gentle giant, he loves all people (including children) and gets along well with other dogs. DNA tests indicate he is a bloodhound/lab/Catahoula mix. Despite his age, he's got serious power and will need a strong human to handle the other end of the leash in the event an Amazon truck should come along. Duke John loves his routine and it includes non-negotiable short nightly walks - one of his very favorite things in life. This guy is a survivor: having adapted to more relaxed living conditions due to his congenital heart condition and takes numerous medications each day. His health requires a human who can keep him on a strict food and med schedule, let him out frequently, and who will bring him to vet appointments. He is not neutered: due to his age and heart issues, he cannot undergo anesthesia.Anyone interested in Duke John should speak first to our medical staff so we can be certain his health needs will be met. He is searching for an active and loving home where he can live his best life. He is one heckuva special dog.Interested in adopting this dog? Visit our website (http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org) to fill out an application and to find out where this dog may be shown this weekend. We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog's individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog. Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don't know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess. Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Questions? Email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org. Hope to see you become part of the SCCR family!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact HL for more information about this pet. Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   Scooby is a 3 year old male who weighs in at 95 pounds.  This dog's adoption fee is $850.  If you are still interested, please read more below. Meet Scooby!! This gentle giant came to ARF as his aging owner got sick and could no longer care for him. Leaving the only home he had ever known was very stressful for Scooby, but he settled into his foster home very quickly. He plays well with the resident dogs in his foster home, but prefers to be the leader of his pack. He would be fine with a dog larger than himself in the house, as long as they are submissive.  Scooby LOVES toys and to play or wrestle, and as soon as he is done playing, he wants to cuddle right up next to you on the couch. Scooby would do best with older, dog-savvy kids as he is very playful and doesn't always understand his size.  His foster home is working on breaking some bad habits that he came with, like counter surfing and begging. He was also a little too interested in the resident cat and would do best in a cat free home. A familiarity with Great Danes is a plus, but not a necessity. We believe his previous owners were retired which means Scooby did not spend a lot of time home alone. His ideal home would be one where he is not left home alone for extended periods of time on a regular basis.  Scooby has so much love to give and can't wait to find his forever family! Scooby is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken, and neutered.  This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today!  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are  based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/  Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. Please visit https://www.arf-il.org/events/ for a list of our upcoming adoption events.  Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop! March 26, 2024, 10:36 pm

Story
Mando is a big ol’ cuddle bug! He LOVES lovin’s. He loves people, kids, walks, toys, cuddles, and kisses. Mando was found at a home as a 5 month old puppy on a chain with no food or water. The owner was approached and eventually surrendered him. This poor boy is now 10 months old and has lived in a shelter his entire life. Mando would thrive in a home and deserves one of his very own. He is wonderful with other dogs and is untested with cats. Mando is a 10 month old male Dane mix who is approximately 60 lbs. He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Mando is a big boy and still puppy playful, so he may be too much for small children. Fence required. This furbaby is located at Animal Harbor in southern middle TN. You can apply at www.animalharbor.org. If approved, we will facilitate a virtual meet and greet and answer any questions you may have. We partner with the awesome transport service company Rescue Riders to safely and professionally move our animals to their loving new homes!

Story
Gunner - Male Great Dane Age: 2 years Good with: Cats: Probably not. He likes to chase. Dogs: Yes Kids: Yes, with older kids. Location: Lake St. Louis, MO Weight: 120 lbs Gunner is a sweet happy-go-lucky dog! He adapts well to the energy of the home and is currently living with a senior dog, who he has been very respectful towards. He is working on mastering a few commands and will do anything for a treat, which makes training really easy! His family will want to continue to work with Gunner on training commands and remembering his manners - sometimes the excitment over his humans gets the best of him. For a family, he would do fine with someone that works outside the home, as he does great in the kennel when left alone during the day. However, when his humans are home, he loves nothing more than hanging with his family. You will often find him snoozing on the couch or the floor nearby. His favorite part of the day might be when his family comes home from work. Be prepared for the greatest welcome home party ever as he runs through the house expressing his sheer joy for being reunited with his family! He walks really well on the leash using a gentle leader but still gets overly excited when seeing other dogs on walks and not understanding why he can’t go say hi to every one of them. He is improving every day but would benefit from continuing with his training in his new home. Although Gunner is younger, he makes a great couch potato and spends a lot of his time snoozing the day away. Gunner really is the goofiest boy and is so ready to bring joy to his family’s home. Gunner's Amazon Wishlist. All items will be sent to the foster home.  Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, the dog is considered available for adoption.  Meet and greets can be scheduled with approved adopters. To apply to adopt from Just Giants Rescue, you can visit https://justgiants.org/adopt/ to fill out an application. All dogs adopted from Just Giants Rescue are up to date on shots, microchipped, and spayed or neutered. Some exceptions may apply. For more information about Just Giants or the dogs we rescue, please visit justgiants.org. All puppies will be adopted with age-appropriate vaccines and a spay/neuter contract. ##1719076##
