Hi, I’m Smooch.   I’m not quite ready to be adopted, but you can come back here occasionally to check my progress and find out when to submit an application. Dog’s Name: Smooch Location: Naperville, Il. Date of Birth: 12/01/2025 Gender: Male Breed: Great Dane Color: Fawn Dog's Weight: 10 lbs Gets along with: Dogs?: All Dogs Cats?:  All Cats  Kids?: All kids Training: Leash trained: We're working on it Crate/Kennel:  We're working on it Potty trained: We're working on it Car:  We're working on it Meet Smooch! Smooch is an 8-week-old sweetheart with a gentle, observant nature. He’s the kind of puppy who takes it all in—always watching, listening, and making sure he knows what’s going on around him. Because of that, he’s often the first to alert you when something new pops up. While he can be a little shy at first, his loving personality shines once he feels safe and supported. Smooch does best with an emotional support friend—another friendly, cuddly dog in the home is a must for him. Having a confident canine companion helps him feel secure and encourages him to come out of his shell. With the right environment, he blossoms into a sweet, affectionate boy who loves being near his people and his doggy friend. Smooch is looking for a family who understands that puppies need patience, structure, and lots of positive experiences. As a young giant-breed pup, he will benefit from consistent training and early socialization to help him grow into a confident, well-mannered adult. If you’re looking for a gentle, thoughtful puppy who will thrive with love, guidance, and a built-in best friend, Smooch may be your perfect match Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, this dog is considered available for adoption. Hi, I’m Lani and I’m ready to find my forever home. Dog’s Name: Lani Location: Lake In The Hills, IL Date of Birth: 6/1/2021 Gender: Female Breed: Great Dane Color: Tan Pint Merle Dog's Weight: 117 Gets along with: Dogs?: All dogs, but needs slow introduction. Cats?: Yes Kids?: Yes Training: Leash trained: Walks loose on leash Crate/Kennel:  Goes into crate/kennel on command Potty trained: Indicates a need to potty and doesn’t have indoor accidents Car:  Rides Well in car Meet Lani Lani has the sweetest soul and has truly blossomed in her foster home. She’s come out of her shell and is now showing her silly, playful personality, complete with happy moments that make you smile every day. Lani is eager to please her people and forms deep, meaningful bonds with those she trusts. She’s still adjusting to free-roaming in a home, and some everyday things — like the dishwasher or a long hallway — can catch her off guard. But with each day, her confidence grows, and she continues to amaze everyone with how far she’s come. Slow and steady is Lani’s way, and she’s absolutely thriving. Lani’s forever family will be patient, gentle, and understanding, knowing that the best things take time. In return, she gives the most beautiful reward: unconditional love. She would do well as the only dog or with a calm male dog companion. Lani is also great with kids and enjoys being part of a loving family. She can comfortably handle a full workday in her crate — and she loves it! A crate is a must for her comfort and security (she’ll need a big one — 54” please!). Lani may still be building confidence, but in the right home, she will continue to shine and become the devoted companion she’s meant to be. Hi, I’m Gunner and I’m ready to find my forever home. Dog’s Name: Gunner Location: Kaukauna, WI Date of Birth: 03/03/2022 Gender: Male Breed: Great Dane Color: Black Dog's Weight: 124 Gets along with: Dogs?: All Dogs Cats?:  Unknown Kids?: Older kids Training: Leash trained: Walks loose on leash Crate/Kennel:  Goes into crate/kennel on command Potty trained: Indicates a need to potty and doesn’t have indoor accidents Car:  Rides Well in car  Meet Gunner! Gunner is a big, lovable guy who has been settling back into foster life after being returned due to his previous owner moving. With a little time and consistency, he’s already made great progress and continues to show just how special he is. At night, Gunner does wonderfully in his crate — he goes in without hesitation and sleeps soundly through the night (fair warning: he’s an early bird and ready to start the day bright and early!). During the day, he’s a certified couch connoisseur. He’s very particular about his spot and firmly believes every lounging session requires a pillow. If you happen to be in his chosen seat, he’ll politely (and vocally) let you know. Gunner enjoys watching the world go by from the window and loves burning off energy outside. He’s an explorer at heart and is always curious about what’s going on around him. He can be affectionate to a fault — he likes to paw at you and climb into your lap, occasionally forgetting just how big he really is. Mouthing has been a work in progress, and while redirection can be challenging at times, he’s improving with patience and consistency. Gunner has done well meeting new people and has even met a much smaller dog (he wanted to play; the other dog… not so much ). He previously lived with a dog brother and is likely to enjoy having a canine companion. A playdate with another Great Dane is on the calendar, and we’re hopeful he’ll make a new friend! Gunner would thrive in a home with an experienced giant breed owner, ideally someone familiar with Dane behavior and training, older children, as his jumping and mouthing could be overwhelming for little ones, a fenced yard or an adopter committed to providing daily exercise and outdoor time, and another dog sibling - especially one who enjoys play time.   With structure, exercise, and someone who appreciates a big dog with an even bigger personality, Gunner will make a loyal, entertaining, and affectionate companion. If you love vocal commentary, couch cuddles, and classic Dane antics, Gunner might just be your perfect match Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, this dog is considered available for adoption. Story
Hi, I'm Sir Apollo and I'm ready to find my forever home. Dog’s Name: Sir Apollo Location: Chicago, IL Date of Birth: 10/01/2020 Gender: Male Breed: Great Dane Color: Blue Brindle Dog's Weight: 100 Gets along with: Dogs?: No Cats?:  No Kids?:  Yes- Older kids (10+)  Meet Sir Apollo – The Gentle Soul Finding His Courage Sir Apollo is a sweet, handsome boy who’s looking for a calm, loving home to help him continue blossoming into the confident dog he’s meant to be. Though shy and timid at first, it’s clear that Apollo wants to be brave—he’s already showing more confidence each day! With patience and reassurance, you’ll quickly see his warm, affectionate side shine through. Once you’ve earned your spot in his trusted “circle,” you’ll be greeted with joyful tail wags, excited spins, and plenty of cuddles. Apollo enjoys hiking through forest preserves, playing fetch, and carrying around his toys—but his favorite part of any day is coming home to a peaceful environment where he can relax and recharge with a happy sigh in his cozy bed. Apollo can get anxious in busy or unfamiliar situations so meeting new people one-on-one is a must.  He does take comfort in his person’s calm, confident guidance. He can be selective with other dogs and shows some resource guarding around food or toys, so slow introductions are essential. On walks, he’s generally non-reactive—unless another dog reacts first—but he’s very food-motivated and can be redirected with gentle, consistent training. Sir Apollo is searching for a quiet, stable environment with one or two adults or a family with older, calm children. He would thrive as an only dog but could potentially do well with a laid-back canine companion after slow introductions. A fenced yard would be wonderful for zoomies and fetch, though not required—he loves his neighborhood walks and is a great car rider for adventures. Apollo’s perfect match is someone patient, understanding, and confident.  Someone who can offer him the steady reassurance he needs to continue growing into the happy, secure boy he’s becoming.  If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will reward your love with devotion and gentle affection, Sir Apollo may just be your perfect match. Story
Hi, I’m Meadow and I am ready to find my forever home! Dog’s Name: Meadow Location: Mokena, Il Date of Birth: 09/27/2022 (approximately) Gender: Female Breed: Great Dane Color: Harlequin Dog's Weight: 92 Gets along with: Dogs?: No Cats?: Yes Kids?: Yes Meet Meadow Meadow is a loving, gentle soul who is looking for the calm, quiet home she truly deserves. She was returned by her adopter through no fault of her own—city life, with its bright lights and constant noise, was simply too overwhelming for this laid-back girl. Meadow is much better suited for a peaceful suburban setting where she can relax and feel safe. Since arriving in her foster home, Meadow has been settling in beautifully. She has formed a particularly sweet bond with her youngest human foster sister and clearly enjoys gentle companionship and affection. Meadow is calm, affectionate, and happiest when she’s near her people soaking up attention and cuddles. Meadow's previous owner said she got along beautifully with dogs at doggie daycare, but has met the resident dogs in her foster home with mixed reactions. A young, energetic 7-month-old Great Dane puppy proved to be a bit too much for her, and introductions with the other resident dogs are being handled slowly and thoughtfully. Due to Meadow's unpredictable reaction to other dogs, she may do best as an only dog.   This sweet girl does not require an adopter with giant breed experience—just a family willing to invest time, patience, and love. Meadow is eager to please and will thrive with gentle guidance and consistent training. She does have a few quirks worth noting: Meadow may counter or table surf (though she’s polite and doesn’t take anything!), and if given the opportunity, she may try to bolt out the door, so a secure home and mindful handling are important. Meadow is ready to blossom in a quiet, loving home where she can feel safe, cherished, and understood. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate companion with a heart full of love, Meadow may be the perfect match for you. Until the profile is removed from the public’s view, this dog is considered available for adoption. Hi, I’m Archer and I'm ready to find my forever home. Dog’s Name: Archer Location:  Mokena, Il Date of Birth: 12/01/2025 Gender: Male Breed: Great Dane Color: Black Dog's Weight: 140 Gets along with: Dogs?: All Dogs  Cats?:  All Cats  Kids?: Have not tested with kids Training: Leash trained: Walks loose on leash Crate/Kennel:  Goes into crate/kennel on command Potty trained: Indicates a need to potty and doesn’t have indoor accidents Car:  Rides Well in car Meet Archer! Archer is a laid-back, couch-potato kind of guy who is truly as good as they come. He loves everyone he meets and would likely do just fine with children thanks to his gentle, easygoing nature. Call his name and he listens—because Archer is not only sweet, he’s also a smart boy! Archer already knows sit, stay, wait, paw, and lay down. He’s a little strong on leash, but never rude, and does great on a martingale collar (a prong is available but rarely needed). He’s a respectful house guest who can be left out of the crate with zero issues—no accidents, no chewing, no destruction. Truly a dream dog. Inside, Archer enjoys lounging and tossing his toys around the house. Outside, he gets playful and loves some fun time in the yard. He has the perfect balance of chill and playful energy. Archer would be an amazing fit for just about any family and is especially well-suited for a first-time giant breed owner. He doesn’t require another dog in the home and would thrive in a loving environment where he can enjoy his comfy couch time and daily companionship. A fenced yard is a bonus, but not a must for this good boy. Simply put—Archer is an all-around excellent dog, and whoever adopts him is incredibly lucky.
