Hi, I’m Maximus and I’m ready to find my forever home. Dog’s Name: Maximus Location: Waukesha, WI Age or Date of Birth: 11/01/2021 Gender: Male Breed: Great Dane Color: Merle Dog's Weight: 109 Gets along with: Dogs?: All Dogs Cats?:  Unknown Kids?: All kids Training: Crate/Kennel:  Goes into crate/kennel on command Potty Trained: Indicates need to potty and doesn't have indoor accidents Car:  Rides Well in car Does great at the vet Meet Maximus — Your Kid-Loving, Big-Hearted Best Friend! Maximus (Max) is a gentle giant with a HUGE heart! He absolutely adores the kids in his foster home — part of his morning routine is finding a kid to snuggle with after breakfast. After he picks his cuddle buddy, he happily settles in for the day. When Max first arrived, he was anxious and unsure, but after some much-needed decompression, he has truly blossomed. He’s now relaxed, affectionate, and ready to find his forever family. Max is sweet, smart, and eager to please. He currently knows “sit,” and his foster family is working on additional commands. He does still like to pull on the leash, so his adopters should be ready to continue building his manners. A little guidance will go a long way with this loving boy! Max will thrive with an adopter who will continue his training and help him grow his confidence.  Max LOVES the Danes in his foster home and benefits from a strong doggy role model.  He enjoys snuggles, love, and a loyal companion.  Max will benefit from a family that can offer patience, structure, and a calm environment. A fenced yard is a bonus but not required — Max just needs safe ways to explore and burn off energy. ‍‍ Is Max Good for First-Time Giant Breed Owners?  Yes — if they’re committed to continued training and structure. Max is a wonderful dog who will flourish with guidance and love. If you’re looking for a sweet, kid-cuddling, gentle giant to complete your family, Maximus might be your perfect match! Story
Hi, I'm Sir Apollo and I'm ready to find my forever home. Dog’s Name: Sir Apollo Location: Chicago, IL Date of Birth: 10/01/2020 Gender: Male Breed: Great Dane Color: Blue Brindle Dog's Weight: 100 Gets along with: Dogs?: Yes - Needs slow introduction to other dogs.  He prefers his mealtime in private away from other dogs. Cats?:  No Kids?:  Yes- Older kids (10+)  Meet Sir Apollo – The Gentle Soul Finding His Courage Sir Apollo is a sweet, handsome boy who’s looking for a calm, loving home to help him continue blossoming into the confident dog he’s meant to be. Though shy and timid at first, it’s clear that Apollo wants to be brave—he’s already showing more confidence each day! With patience and reassurance, you’ll quickly see his warm, affectionate side shine through. Once you’ve earned your spot in his trusted “circle,” you’ll be greeted with joyful tail wags, excited spins, and plenty of cuddles. Apollo enjoys hiking through forest preserves, playing fetch, and carrying around his toys—but his favorite part of any day is coming home to a peaceful environment where he can relax and recharge with a happy sigh in his cozy bed. Apollo can get anxious in busy or unfamiliar situations so meeting new people one-on-one is a must.  He does take comfort in his person’s calm, confident guidance. He can be selective with other dogs and shows some resource guarding around food or toys, so slow introductions are essential. On walks, he’s generally non-reactive—unless another dog reacts first—but he’s very food-motivated and can be redirected with gentle, consistent training. Sir Apollo is searching for a quiet, stable environment with one or two adults or a family with older, calm children. He would thrive as an only dog but could potentially do well with a laid-back canine companion after slow introductions. A fenced yard would be wonderful for zoomies and fetch, though not required—he loves his neighborhood walks and is a great car rider for adventures. Apollo’s perfect match is someone patient, understanding, and confident.  Someone who can offer him the steady reassurance he needs to continue growing into the happy, secure boy he’s becoming.  If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will reward your love with devotion and gentle affection, Sir Apollo may just be your perfect match. Meet Bubbles, a sweet and playful 1-year-old Lab/Great Dane/Hound mix with a stunning white coat and a heart as big as her paws! Weighing 60 lbs, she still thinks she's a lap dog and loves cuddling up with you. Bubbles adores winter frolics, especially when playing with her two resident beagle pals, and her gentle, energetic nature makes her perfect for a family that enjoys outdoor fun and cozy evenings. Housebroken and well-mannered, Bubbles gets along great with other dogs. She would thrive in an active home with plenty of space—ideally a fenced yard—and lots of love. Please note, chases cats pretty relentlessly. Bubbles is spayed, up-to-date on her vaccinations, and ready to find her forever family. Could that be you? Dogs over six-months of age are heartworm tested. When adopting, we will ensure that you receive copies of veterinary and microchip records. Records are sent via email. Paper versions are available upon request. If you are interested in this pet, please fill out the brief Adopter Survey by hitting "Apply for Adoption" on the profile above. After we review your completed survey, we will contact you by phone or email within three business days. Please note- Out of respect for our volunteers and staff, we are closed on Sunday and Monday and will not be processing any applications on those days. Please get back to us right away when we call or email regarding an application so that we can quickly connect using the process below: Select a pet and submit an online adoption survey. A PCH! adoption counselor will contact potential adopters within three business days (PCH! cannot guarantee any pet's availability, but we make every effort to accommodate adopters with a reply and possible alternative suggestions). An adoption counselor and client will then have a conversation to answer questions, discuss any medical needs for the pet and determine the suitability of a match (if necessary, we may opt to put adopters in touch with foster parents). After a match is made, clients will be asked to sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee online through our secure payment system *Please see our modified no-risk return policy. (below) The PCH! adoption counselor will then set up a specific appointment time and location. Adopters should bring a pet carrier and/or a leash to pick up and their ID. Adult pets will be wearing a collar. It is important that clients arrive on time, neither early nor late. Cats and kittens are required to leave in a pet carrier. If your adoption is scheduled at Pet Central Helps!: Upon arrival inside the Crossroads Center complex (360 Wylie Drive), look for the black Pet Central Helps! semi-trailer, which is right outside of our facility (Suite 720). Park in the parking lot and enter the facility. A PCH! representative will greet you and show you to the adoption room. Your new pet will be handed to you. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at PetSmart – Bloomington, IL: Park in the PetSmart (1606 E. Empire St.) Parking lot and enter the store. We will be set up just inside the store entrance. Let us know you are here to pick up your pet! A PCH! representative will confirm your information and hand you your pet. We will take a "Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. If your adoption is scheduled at the Cat’s Meow Cafe: Navigate to PetSmart, park in the parking lot and enter the store. Locate a PCH! Representative at our adoption table and let them know you are picking up a Cat Cafe Cat. You will sign your final contract with your counselor and snap a picture of the completed screen. Head to the Cat’s Meow Cafe at 507 N. Hershey Rd and provide them with the snapshot of your final contract. They will get your cat and take a “Happy Adoption Day” photo with your pet and family. PCH! supports a 30-day no-fault return policy in which adopters are given the opportunity to find a better match. If we cannot provide advice/tools to keep a pet in the home we offer these options: Exchange for a pet that may be a better match** Receive a refund minus a $40 processing fee** With this approach, we can often turn mismatches into opportunities! Thank you, Pet Central Helps!
