Story

Duffy is a 9 month old Great Dane. Although he is very timid and shy, he is very sweet and cuddly once he is comfortable with you!! He definitely loves his treats, so that’s the first step to winning him over! He is always getting the zoomies and is such a goofy boy. He loves running around outside (and recently discovered he loves the snow!). He loves rubber toys, tennis balls, and playing tug of war (but be prepared to lose tug of war). He knows basic commands - sit, down, wait, leave it, bed and off. We are still working on leash training but is responding well to training and I will continue to train with him. He is also kennel trained and stays in his kennel when no one is home.

This cutie pup is Izzy, our friend with City of Raytown Animal Services! She's a black and white seven- to eight-month-old Great Dane mix puppy. Izzy loves other dogs, cats, and kids. She's still a big, silly puppy and can be pretty enthusiastic with her greetings, so a home with older kids would be best. She's doing very well with her leash walking, is learning sit, and keeps her kennel spotless! (Izzy has some dry skin around one eye that will be treated by a veterinarian.) Hi there! I’m Moose! I was homeless for a very long time, but was adopted about a year ago. I thought this was it, that I'd found my forever home and I was so, so happy! Unfortunately, the person who said she would love me forever and ever decided to move and now I'm homeless again. I have a proposition for you, though--I promise to be your best friend forever and remain loyal and true to you if you'll make me your "for real" forever boy. I've gotten a little older (I'm nine very handsome years old now, to be precise) and I'm still a big boy. But please don’t let my size intimidate you. It just means my heart is bigger! The truth is, I am a very well-behaved boy who is just really looking forward to being part of a family. I sure hope my family sees this and wants to meet me. I’m already neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated, and I can have my bags packed to go home with you in no time! I may be a big boy, but I travel light! But the best thing I can offer is that I come with a lifetime of unconditional love. Everyone needs that, right? I am also a very treat-motivated guy. What can I say, I love my food! Being treat-motivated will actually help me learn new things. I already know the commands, “sit,” and “down,” but I would love to learn more. Would you like to help me learn new things? No one knows for certain my past, from before I came to The Pet Connection, because I haven’t shared it all with them, and I don’t really like to dwell on it. But I will tell you that I can be a bit scared of strangers and a bit selective about my doggy friends. Let’s see, what else . . . oh yeah, I also love to play with toys—especially the ones that squeak! Squeaky toys are THE BEST! I am house-trained and crate-trained, too. Oh, AND I like to sit on the riding lawn mower. That’s normal, right? Don’t most dogs like to sit on riding lawn mowers? She will be large, weighing over 60 pounds when fully grown. If she doesn’t woo you with her soulful brown eyes, she will with her sweet and social personality. Sable is an active pup who can also be mellow. She loves nothing more than being around her people getting pets, or playing with her doggie friends. Miss Sable not only has the looks but also the smarts. She is nearly house-trained and sleeps quietly in her crate when left alone and at night. She is practicing her leash skills with her foster dad and is doing well. Sable has already learned a couple of commands, such as ‘touch’ and ‘come’.
