Story

Dane is a stunning blue merle great dane mix. He is about 8 months old and great with dogs of all sizes and with cats. He was rescued from a small rural shelter where he was slated to be euthanized due to time and space. He is a chill dude who likes to nap, go on walks and hang with his friends. He is currently still in Oklahoma where he was rescued but he can only be adopted out of state where people treat animals well. He has to be prepaid and picked up directly from transport at one of our transport drop off locations below. If things don't work out for some reason, which rarely ever happens, we will either find a local foster to take him in or he will go back to Oklahoma on our next transport until a new home is found. Hello Future Family!! My name is DESIREE and I am a lovable 4 year old AKC registered Great Dane. I came into the rescue a very skinny girl but I have filled out nicely with the wonderful meals I have received. I am looking for my forever family - my foster parents love me but they said they have many doggies that need their help too. I love affection and laps, stuffed toys and my Nyla bones. I don't hate other dogs but my foster mom said I would be best as an only dog because I get jealous - sorry we all have our hang-ups. I am crate trained, house trained and extremely loving. PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.Arkansas or nearby! Waylon is a 2 yr old Great Dane who came into rescue after he was found as a stray. He was in horrific shape and barely survived the level of starvation he endured. But he did survive and he is thriving now! Waylon is still slowly gaining weight, and has almost reached his ideal weight. He is VERY tall. He is so sweet and loving. He want to sit in your lap and cuddle with you, as if he is a 10lb lap dog rather than 120 lb Dane. While in his foster home, he has done well with most other dogs, but it is very structured and his time with other dogs is limited. He does seem to have a jealoys streak and is possessive of his people. He does great in a doggy daycare setting and has spent lots of time in daycare, doing very well with most dogs there. I think this is a lot different than how he will behave in a home setting with other dogs sharing his humans attention. For this reason, we would love to see him adopted into a home where he can be the only dog. He is not a candidate for a home with young kids. He is just too big and clumsy, and he really wants all the attention. I feel the he may become jealous of little kids and view them as competition. We just really want to set him up for success. He's been through enough in his short life amd we want it to be easy from here on our. Waylon holds a very special place in my heart. Hes been in my home through it all- recovering from starvation, happy tail and subsequent tail amputation, heartworm treatment. The odds were stacked against him, but he made it and now he's ready to find his own home. Waylon is located in Alexander, AR. We would prefer a local adopter, within driving distance. Meet Misty! She's a smart lady who is smart as a whip! She's crate trained, mastered many commands (sit, down, off, mat, enough, go to your room, here, all done- more than most kids :). She loves to run, play fetch and be wherever you are! She's a year and a half old, and was lucky enough to have professional training donated to help her find her forever home. Whoever adopts her will receive at least one free hand off session from her trainer to help her transition go perfectly! Her ideal family would be somewhat active (she needs to run around a yard at least a few times per day). She gets along well with other dogs, but calmer dogs are best. Misty loves to play, but she can get very excited if the other dog is too energetic! She would do well with older children. Younger children and cats would require a lot of supervision. Her trainer thinks she would be a great agility dog, but she is smart enough to do anything you want to train her to do! She will require some active parenting to teach her the rules of your house, because she is so smart, she may try to make her own activities if nothing fun is provided! She's potty trained now (we had some overnight accidents until she started going in her crate at night). She's a great dog with a good head on her shoulders, and she wants to know if you are the one for her! $200 In State Adoption Fee (in Texas) $400 Out of State Fee (includes Transportation to your area) $50 Temporary fuel surcharge.
