Story
Hello! My name is Sesame Bean and my delicate but distinctly nutty personality set me apart from the crowd! I am very sociable and love to meet new people! In my spare time, I can be found chewing on my favorite toy while I look around waiting for the action to happen. I am not sure what action, but I am ready for it! I would be the perfect fit for an active household that can help keep me entertained. I enjoy being around other dogs, but am perfectly content to entertain myself as well, My curiosity has led me to be a very fast learner. I am fully kennel and potty trained. If I sound like the pal for your home, I would love to meet you!--------------------------------------------"Summer Lovin' Promo" For applications received now through 07/31/2026, Warrior Dog Rescue is reducing the adoption fee of all pups. This is reflected in the adoption fee shown below. All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spayed/neutered if the dog is over 6 months of age at the time of adoption. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.River came to MCHS on 9/30/2025 as a stray caught after running loose for a few days, held for the legal hold time, and never claimed. We are fairly certain of her original background as several puppies that looked like her were dumped by their owner near our shelter in February 2024. We eventually found out that those pups were born in late November 2023 to a Great Dane mix mother and bluetick coonhound father and that the entire litter was not abandoned. All of those puppies found homes and now River is still waiting for one after coming to the shelter as an adult. She has been vet checked, spayed, and microchipped, and her fee is $150. River certainly exemplifies many hound characteristics in both looks and behavior. Hounds and their mixes tend to be stubborn, fun loving, and ruled by their noses and the scents on the breeze. River is energetic, strong, and does like to push the boundaries. She's also extremely happy and loving. She will require a secure environment and a lot of exercise. At this time, we do think she'd do best as the only pet in the home, at least until she gets some good training and socialization. She definitely needs some basic training and would do best in a home without little kids, due to her size and somewhat clumsy nature. River will definitely be a loyal and happy companion for someone. She loves to give hugs. This gal has spent too much time at the shelter and is more than ready to head to a new home! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 16, 2026, 1:57 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Peggy is a coonhound mix who came to us on 2/26/2026, after fulfilling her legal stray hold at the city pound. She was very likely part of a large litter of puppies born in late November 2023 to a Great Dane mix mother and bluetick coonhound father. They were all the product of a bad situation in our area and we think most of the pups, if not all, made it to our shelter for adoption. That is now all behind Peggy and she is very resilient dog who recovered amazingly well after having one of her eyes surgically removed. A large growth on the eye that could not be safely taken out on its own necessitated its removal. Peggy has been vet checked, spayed, and microchipped, and her fee is $150. Peggy is really a delightful gal who is looking for a home that is somewhat accustomed to hounds. They tend to be controlled by their noses and can be a bit stubborn and vocal. Peggy is loving and affectionate and will require regular exercise. We think she could be okay with a well mannered male dog. Cats are probably a no. Kids over 5 should be fine with her. She is not a dog for apartment living.
