Hi my name is Gracie and I am 4.5 yrs old and a purebred great dane blue harlequin. I absolutely love spending time with family and following you around everywhere. I love going on walks and like car rides also . I love to run and play . I do great with children and cats. I would probably be better in a home with no other dogs as I can get a little territorial and have gone after my current dog I have grown up with .

Story
Introducing Ares! Smart Loving Charming Courageous  Ares is one half of an extraordinary pair of Great Danes who embody resilience, charm, and boundless love. Ares and his sister, Luna, are ready to embark on a new chapter of their lives with you. This magnificent, white Great Dane has a heart as big as his towering stature. Despite facing life with limited vision and the absence of sound, he has adjusted to life in his foster home well with additional support from his sister. This gentle giant is patiently waiting to shower his forever family with affection. His disability is no obstacle to his spirit or his potential to be a cherished family member. In fact, it's his unique qualities that make him even more endearing. What truly sets this remarkable Great Dane apart is his incredible bond with his sister. Their connection is nothing short of beautiful. These two have a special language of their own, and they lean on each other for support and companionship. Adopting them together will ensure that they continue to thrive in a loving and nurturing home. These two gentle giants can be the perfect addition to your family and can do well in a household with cats and older children. Both dogs are housebroken, crate-trained, and walk well on a leash. Their foster family has also noted they do well during care rides. A physical fence and minimal steps are required due to them having difficulty with hearing and vision. Neither dog has any medical/health concerns, but Ares occasionally requires an ointment for his eye. Are you ready to open your heart and home to this remarkable pair of siblings? If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Ares & Luna’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about them. If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you can be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue. Please visit https://www.thegreatdanerescue.com/adoption-application to complete an application and submit your $25 application fee to begin the process. This awesome duo is currently located in Presque Isle, WI. Since Ares and Luna need to be adopted together, the combined adoption fee is $430.10. ##1579465##

Story
Introducing Thanos, now called Louie Curious Easy-Going Friendly Snuggly Hey there, I'm Louie, and I'm here to tell you all about myself! First off, let's talk about my forever home. It's gotta have a physical fence – I like to explore and investigate, so having a safe space to roam is important to me. Speaking of exploring, I've racked up quite a few frequent flier miles in my time with my original owner. But now, I'm ready to settle down and find my forever family. I'm a good boy, but I can't help being curious. Smells and noises just beg to be investigated! Luckily, I'm housebroken and crate-trained, so I know how to behave when my humans are away. I prefer lounging on my dog bed, but I'll tolerate being crated if I have to. Outgoing and friendly – that's me! I've made friends with all sorts of folks, from shelter staff to animal control officers. And don't even get me started on how well I did at the vet – they couldn't get enough of me! Now, when it comes to other furry friends, I've got limited experience with cats. I did try to chase one once, but I'm learning to be more chill. Slow and structured introductions will be key. I get super excited when meeting new dogs and my curiosity may be a bit overwhelming to smaller dogs. Introductions should be slow and outdoors. As for commands, I'm getting there. I understand a bunch of them, but let's just say I have a mind of my own sometimes. Food definitely helps motivate me to listen, though! Snuggles, daily strolls, chew toys, and my dog bed – those are a few of my favorite things. Baths, vet visits, and car rides? No problem! But I'd rather not wear an e-collar or be crated if I can help it. I've been through some tough times – lost weight, calluses, scars, you name it. But I'm a trooper, and I'm working hard to get healthy again. Neutering can wait until I'm feeling better, too. Kids? I may have had some in my previous home, but I haven't had any experience with them with my foster family. So, slow and structured introductions will be necessary. When it comes down to it, I just want to be with my favorite humans as much as possible. If you’re wearing a jacket, I’ll try to shimmy my way into it to get those snuggles and pets! Oh, and did I mention I get cold easily? A dog hoodie or sweater is right up my alley. So if you're looking for a furry friend who's curious, friendly, and enjoys a good snuggle, look no further – I'm your guy! If you're seeking a loyal and affectionate companion who's always up for an adventure, Louie may be the perfect fit for your home. With his playful spirit and loving disposition, he's ready to embark on life's journey by your side. To provide a loving forever home to this affectionate Great Dane, please reach out to us by following one of the two options below. 1. If you have already completed the adoption or foster application process and are an approved adopter/foster with UMGDR, please contact Louie’s Placement Coordinator at lindsay@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him. 2. Story
Introducing Duke Outdoorsy Playful Affectionate Snuggly Personality: Duke is a loyal and protective dog with boundless energy. He's always on the move and is eager to explore and engage with his environment. Despite his busy nature, Duke is incredibly smart making him a joy to train and interact with. He enjoys entertaining himself with rope toys and squeaky toys. He's also a fan of hugs and pets, often seeking attention from his favorite humans. Duke LOVES spending time outdoors. Home Requirements: While a physical fence is highly recommended, it's not a strict requirement for Duke's forever home. He's crate-trained and housebroken, making him a well-behaved companion indoors. Duke gets nervous around young children. He is more comfortable around older kids such as 12 years of age. His forever home needs to have older or no children. Duke thrives in an environment where he's given plenty of attention and mental stimulation. He has no experience with cats or other small animals, so slow and intentional introductions will be necessary. Training: He has mastered the commands: sit, stay, shake, and more, but could use some additional training with walking nicely on a leash. Duke has a dominant personality that previously included some aggressive behaviors toward other dogs. He has recently completed a training program which has significantly reduced that behavior. His forever family will need to commit to implementing the techniques he has learned. Likes and Dislikes: Duke adores dog toys, doggy daycare, treats, and cozy blankets in his kennel. However, he dislikes having his front legs and paws touched, bath time, and being still for pictures. Health: Duke is in good health with no current concerns at this time. Duke may be a bit smaller in size compared to other Danes, but his heart and personality are larger than life. If you're ready to provide a loving forever home to this affectionate Great Dane, please reach out to us by following one of the two options below. 1. If you have already completed the adoption or foster application process and are an approved adopter/foster with UMGDR, please contact Duke’s Placement Coordinator at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him. 2. Story
Introducing Barney, now called Jax! Affectionate Loving Adventurous Snuggly Jax is a magnificent Great Dane who is filled with joy, love, warmth, and a touch of adventure. He is an enthusiast when it comes to walks. He tends to need a bit of coaching to refine his walking due to him being so excited to take his human on a journey! His preference is to spend time with others, and while he's made great strides in being left alone, his true joy is in the company of his loved ones. He does not have previous experience with cats but has done well with other dogs, including small ones. He has had positive experiences with children aged 7 and older, showcasing his gentle and loving nature. Jax will offer a big bark to people entering his home but can be easily redirected. A physical fence is recommended, but not required for his adoptive home. Jax is a connoisseur of affection and can often be found snuggling his humans and stuffed animals. He also enjoys car rides and baths. His love knows no bounds, as he showers those around him with kisses and finds solace in peaceful slumber. Loud noises and getting his nails trimmed are two dislikes of his. In August of 2023, Jax started taking medication for low thyroid. He has since been taken off of this medication per his vet’s recommendation to see if his endocrine system is back to normal. Jax is a companion who will always brighten your day. If you're ready to embrace the love of this special Great Dane, please contact us by following one of the steps below. 1. If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Jax’s Placement Coordinator at courtney@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about him. 2. Story
Introducing Blue! Affectionate Outgoing Sweet Easy Going  This regal and loving Great Dane’s age only adds to the richness of her character. Blue's behavior is nothing short of excellent, making her a perfect companion for adults, children, cats, and other large dogs. She radiates warmth and excitement when meeting new people, often running up to lean on them during introductions—her way of saying, "Let's be friends!" Blue’s manners are impeccable and she is crate-trained and housebroken. While she exudes wonderful behavior, she can be a bit of an opportunist if tantalizing items are left within her reach. However, her understanding of commands like "come" and "leave it" showcases her intelligence and willingness to follow instructions. Blue has excellent leash etiquette during walks. Although she may pull slightly in the first block due to sheer excitement, her overall behavior on a leash is a joy to experience. Blue’s forever home does not require physical fencing. She is content with the love and boundaries provided by her family. This wise and gentle giant has a heart full of love for snuggling, napping, short walks, and simply being around her family. Her dislikes are few, but reactive dogs are on that list. Blue appreciates a calm and harmonious environment where she can share her love without any unnecessary disturbances. Blue requires her forever home to have at least limited stairs but preferably no stairs. Blue is eagerly waiting to become a cherished part of your family! If you're ready to open your heart to a loving senior companion, Blue is ready to add an extra layer of joy to your life. Please contact us by following one of the steps below. 1. If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Blue’s Placement Coordinator at courtney@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about her. 2.
