Story
I promise to be Pup-kin spice and everything nice!Hi everyone! I’m Dotty! I am a sweet and gentle dog. I was found with my 4 siblings just roaming the countryside as strays. Coming to MN was quite an adventure for me. I’m still shy around new people and situations, but I’m getting more confident every day. My foster family is starting to see my silly personality. I LOVE squeaky toys! Wrestling with my blanket is really fun too. I’m working on potty training and quickly getting the hang of it. Walking on a leash is something else I’m working on. I’m trying really hard to be brave away from my house. I'm looking for a patient home where I can feel safe and loved.I would love a house with a doggo friend so that I can have a buddy to teach me things and just hang out with. That would help me to be brave and make me really happy! I would also love a fenced yard. I love to run and chase my toys. My family is teaching me how to fetch. I’ll show you how fast I am. If you're looking for a furry friend who will be a loyal companion, then I'm your dog. Let’s start our fur-ever adventure together!Do we have the black dog for you, find your #1 Boo!For Applications received through 10/31/2023, Warrior Dog Rescue is taking $200 off of the adoption fee of select black dogs. This is reflected in the adoption fee shown below. *Training discounts do not apply*--------------------------------------------All our Warrior Dogs will have all age appropriate medical care and vaccines, a microchip, and spay/neuter before adoption unless age is a factor with a puppy younger than 6-12 months at the time of adoption. If that is the case, the spay/neuter will be covered in the adoption fee and the owner will be responsible to have the procedures completed at a Warrior Dog Rescue Veterinarian at the appropriate time. Please note that the majority of our dogs in rescue are from shelters where they have been found as strays or abandoned. Their breed description is based on our very best educated guess based on physical characteristics and their dispositions. If they came to our rescue as an owner surrender, the breed description will be listed as provided by the previous owner.Adoption Fee - $325To apply for this pup, please submit an Adoption Application at http://warriordogrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application/

Story
Hi, I am Axle, here is some info about me. Scooby Doo, Marmaduke, and me! My name is Axle and I’m looking for a new home, due to unfortunate circumstances that will require my human to sell his home. I really love humans and sometimes act like one. I am very loving and sometimes just want a hug and then I’ll go about my day. Which consists of quite a bit of laying around. I very much enjoy being outside, most of the day, and even in winter. I’m also part black lab so I’m not totally lazy and I also don’t drool as much as my full Great Dane relatives, I think I have Great Dane in me who knows. I must admit, I really like to roam; that is my weakness. Fences don’t really do much for my size, as I just jump over it without much effort. I just really like going for walks and seeing the neighbors in town. I always come home though! So, it might be better for me to find a place in the country, so city folk don’t have to be concerned about me getting out of my yard. As I said I like people.

Story
2/11/2023  Introducing Luna and Ares This precious pair has a bond like no other! They are 4 year old littermates who have always been together and MUST stay together. They are currently fostered in Presque Isle, WI. They will have a special reduced combined adoption fee of $400 (plus tax) to be adopted together. They are both adult, kid,and dog friendly. Prior to surrender they also lived with cats. They are house, kennel and leash trained as well as have excellent car manners. They enjoy walks and meeting new people...they charmed the staff at the vet clinic! Consistency and routine is needed to help them learn their environment due to vision and hearing impairments. Luna is a spayed white 115 pound female. Her tail was docked when she was 1.5 years old due to issues from "happy tail". She is both sight and hearing impaired though she gets around so well  you may not even notice. She can hear certain sounds and responds immediately when she hears your call Luna Bell. Luna is the leader of this bonded duo, with Ares often following her lead and seeking her for direction. Some days she does appreciate a break from this role and it is important her new family recognizes when she needs this little break.  Areas is a neutered white 154 pound male. He is deaf, and lost his left eye secondary to failed cherry eye surgeries. He receives ointment for his right eye and needs drops 2x a day. He has limited vision in his right eye reacting to light and movement. Once he has an environment layout memorized, he gets around pretty well and doesn't bump into things. Luna is great with assisting him around when he needs a guide. When Luna isn’t around to assist him he will rely on his people when he needs a little guidance. His name is Greek and represents the god of warfare and courage, and this boy is the epitome of courage! He has been through a lot since coming into the rescue but is one of the kindest, sweetest, fun loving Danes you will ever meet. Hard Requirements their adoptive home include a physically fenced yard and a home with minimal steps. An open concept home would be most beneficial. They are both very smart and quickly learn to adapt to their new environments. Keeping the home layout the same will help them really nail down the home pattern in their minds. If there are children in an adoptive home, tweens and older kids would fit them best so the home isn’t changed often by children's toys/belongings spread about the floor which could confuse them and their understanding of the layout of the home. Do you think you may be the adopter that this precious pair is waiting for? If so, this is what you need to do:    -  If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Callie at callie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about Luna & Ares.   -  If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you could be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue. Story
Introducing Maxwell!Bio:* Active 1 year old * White Neutered Male* Located in Presque Isle, WIBasic Info:* Maxwell has significant vision impairment--it is estimated that he can only see about 5% out of one eye, however foster mom questions this estimate as he does see "something" and gets along really well once he understands the layout of the environment. He might see blobs/lightness/darkness of objects/etc. He can see motion & will react according to what the motion is doing. He may see certain areas of light/dark etc that help him to move around.* While not completely deaf, he has a significant hearing impairment. Maxwell appears to hear only certain high pitch noises out of one ear (things like loud voices/dogs barking/vehicles revving up)* Really loves on his people and looks to them for guidance and reassurance due to his hearing and vision losses* Excellent car rider* No known experience with catsLikes:* Playing with toys; balls/rope balls/ deer antlers etc.* Walks; he is a very curious pup who loves to explore everything he can get his nose and paws on* Loves doing zoomies in the backyardDislikes:* Being left alone. If he feels that he is all alone he will bark constantly. Someone who is home more often than not would best suit his current needs. At this time a standard 8-hour work day is too long for him to be left alone* People in his face and not respecting his boundaries* Objects/people/other dogs that move quickly. With his limited sight and hearing these fast movements can make him a bit nervous and unsure of his surroundingsHard Requirements For Forever Home:* Due to his hearing and vision impairments, he requires a physically fenced in yard* Requires a home with another submissive, active canine who can help him burn off puppy energy and who can mentor him in these crucial months of training and "growing" up!* If there are children, his foster mom asks they be at least 12 years or older, with calm demeanors* A calm and consistent home life is vital to his success! A busy and chaotic environment would be too stressful for himSpecial Note From Foster Mom:* This fella is a pretty special puppy! He has been bounced around a lot unfortunately and really needs an adopter who will go above and beyond as he is most deserving. Someone with deaf/vision impairment experience would be a blessing for him. Maxwell is a one in a million Dane. I just know there is a special home out there for him that will supersede all our expectations.Interested in Maxwell? This is what you need do:* If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Michelle at michelle@thegreatdanerescue.com to discuss your interest in Maxwell.* If you are not an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you can be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue. Story
Introducing Bertha (BB!)Bio:- 4 years old....having her 5th birthday on August 20. 2023- Spayed female- Mantle coat- Located in Ripon, WIBasic Info:- Significant vision impairment, completely blind in left eye and can only see shadows or dark spots in her right eye- Super snuggler- loves cuddles and lots of attention from people- Walks nicely with a harness, doesn't pull- Crate trained; is crated overnight for sleeping, Bertha has been left alone for about 4 hours while her foster mom was at work and did great! She has never had an accident in the house or the crate.- No known cat experience- Unknown if she has ever lived with kids (none in foster and she came from a humane society prior to our rescue)Likes:- Walks, these are her absolute favorite!- Enjoys chew toys and stuffed animals- Always down for a napDislikes/Quirks:- Not a fan of sharing her space or food with other dogs. This could be due to her sight loss and confusion of other dogs in her space. She will do best in a home where she is the only dog.- Does not like loud noises and being sneaked up on and/ startled; again related to her sight loss- Would rather not get a bath if she doesn't have toMedical Notes:- Other than being almost completely blind, she has no medical concerns. She has a few lipomas (fatty tissue spots) on her legs/side, but these have been evaluated by a vet and they are not a health concern and do not bother her physicallyHard Requirements For Forever Home:- Due to extreme vision impairment, she will require a fenced in yard for her safety or leash only walks.- An adoptive home where she can be the only dog- While Bertha has not been aggressive to anyone, her lack of being able to see and assess her surroundings visually leave her easily startled and possibly on the defensive. For that reason a calm home environment is needed for this sweet girl. If there are children in an adoptive home we ask that they be at least 12 years old and able to understand this need and provide her the calm, predictable environment she needs. If you think you may be the adoptive home that this super sweet girl is waiting for, this is what you need to do:- If you have already completed the application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Stephanie at stephanie@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about Bertha.- If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you could be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue.
