All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. Story
Grams Needs Your Help Registration No.: RR097. It’s truly heart-wrenching to hear about Grams’ condition, but it’s also heartwarming to know that he’s now in a caring environment where he can begin to heal physically and emotionally. Gram is a scared but sweet boy, weighing 87 pounds and we think he is about 3 years old. It’s clear that he’s been through a lot, but with proper care and attention, he has a chance for a better life ahead. The pictures say more than words. The efforts of the shelter and his foster home are commendable. His foster mom is providing him with multiple small meals to prevent bloating, along with the patience and care to help him adjust to his new surroundings, are crucial steps in his recovery process. It sounds like Gram has endured significant neglect and possibly mistreatment in the past. His emaciated condition and the injuries described below indicate prolonged suffering and lack of proper care. The protruding bones suggest severe malnutrition. The cuts on his hind legs, along with the pressure sores, further indicate that he’s been subjected to conditions that are detrimental to his well-being, likely due to prolonged confinement in an inadequate environment. The rings around his tail are a common sign of being crated for long periods in a crate that’s too small, causing discomfort and injury. The chewed-up ears could indeed be from being tied up outside, especially if flies or other pests were present. Given his physical condition, it’s imperative that he receives prompt veterinary attention to address his sores and his paraphimosis which is an issue with his penis that can cause a constriction to the blood flow which can cause increased swelling and any other health concerns he may have. It’s also important to assess his emotional well-being and provide him with the support and comfort he needs to feel safe and secure. It’s essential that his new foster and eventual furever home continue to monitor his condition closely and provide him with the necessary support and medical care to ensure his recovery and eventual well-being. Grams deserves a chance at a better life, and with the right care and compassion, he can overcome his past traumas and thrive in a loving home. Gram is responding well to the care provided by his foster home. The fact that he’s eating, drinking, and able to relieve himself without complications is a positive sign of his resilience. Bonding with his foster family is a crucial step in Grams’ journey to recovery. Establishing trust and a sense of security will be essential for him to feel safe and comfortable in his new environment. The patience and compassion shown by his foster caregivers are invaluable in helping him adjust and heal from the trauma he’s experienced. It’s heartbreaking to imagine what Gram has been through. With proper medical attention, nutrition, and lots of love and patience, he has the potential to heal both physically and emotionally. Gram has a bright future ahead. He’s fortunate to have found a supportive foster home that is committed to his well-being, and I have no doubt that he’ll continue to make progress on his journey to recovery and eventual adoption into a loving furever home. MAGDRL adopts to eastern NY, eastern PA, NJ, DE, MD, VA and WV only. Please see our website www.magdrl.org for adoption procedures and fencing policies. Story
We are so excited to be a part of changing the future for this handsome male Great Dane called Neville.  Recently we were asked to help this one year old fawn colored boy to find a home and to do all the vetting from the ground up. You see, Neville was orphaned at birth when his momma died and he was hand- raised and fed by a woman who dearly loved him and still does. Eventually, she realized she was overwhelmed due to his size and the future of caring for him (she was a senior lady)  and sadly she surrendered him to Critter Cavalry Rescue.   Soon our foster mom who has two Great Danes herself, quickly figured out that Neville had only been around his Great Dane dad and siblings all his life and it was a sight to behold when he met the variety of dogs at this new foster home.  Neville tucked his tail and ran with sheer fright! He has since embraced all the foster dogs, cats, horses, donkeys and pigs as his friends. This special boy doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. And if you know the Dane breed traits, he is all of those and more.  He loves to run and play with all his new dog friends and we think he believes he has died and gone to dog heaven with all these friends to play with. Eager to please, Neville is the happiest when he puts his huge head in your lap to absorb all the love from his foster mom.  He loves to be petted and told how good a boy he really is. He is still a wee bit timid of new things and he will seek out a kind human to lean on for reassurance that all is well.   He is not in the house 24/7, but close to being housebroken all the same.  He has been neutered and we talked his stomach for the prevention of stomach flipping later in life.  This common malady effects the large breed dogs in high numbers and the reality of it happening is huge.  It is costly and often how large dogs end up in the ER at the expense of well over $5000 with no guarantee that the emergency surgery will save the dog.   We try to give this all-important insurance by tacking the stomach to help prevent any future flipping of the stomach.  We know that Neville will be the love of some family’s life if he is chosen.  We will require a fenced yard and someone that does not leave him 8-9 hours daily for work.  Shorter work hours away are fine, but he will be lonely if left crated for 8-9 hours. If you are interested in this giant lovebug please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   He is worth every penny donated to adopt him.  You will see that instantly. PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.November 7, 2024, 10:11 pm

Story
Hello world! I’m Cassie, a 5-6-month-old Great Dane mix with a heart as big as my paws! Right now, I’m about 40 pounds, but I’m expected to grow into a 65-80 pound bundle of love. I’m super sweet and always ready to give kisses, and I’ve been told I’m good in the car. Whether we’re going for a ride or just hanging out at home, I’ll always be by your side, showering you with affection. Life hasn’t always been easy for me—I was abandoned in a house before being rescued. But I’m ready to put the past behind me and focus on all the good things ahead. I’m good with kids and have such a loving nature. The humans at the rescue say I may be deaf, but that doesn’t slow me down! I’m eager to learn new things. What I really need is a forever family who will see how special I am, despite the bumps in my journey. I know thrive in a home where I feel safe and loved. Could that home be yours? Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.

Meet Maggie, A Wonder Woman Wearing a Catwoman Mask 🐶 Once a volunteer accidently dropped her leash and let her run away. Within minutes, Maggie returned on her own and gave the volunteer a big hug. She even brought a stick as a peace offering. It is amazing to see Maggie still has complete faith in humanity despite of surviving from Mass Dog Slaughterhouse. Maggie will love you whether you live in a little trailer or a big house. No matter what kind of mood you are in, Maggie can always make you smile. Can you be a special someone to give Maggie a home?
