Story
Cedar had been a long-term resident at an animal shelter I worked at for a few months and was not doing too great in a kennel. As I no longer have a job (old company shut down due to inadequate funding), I cannot afford his needs nor do I have the room for him in my current housing. He is by far one of the sweetest, most versatile dogs one could ask for! He does love kids, however getting some energy out would do some good as he does like to shake. He is VERY food motivated, cuddly, and a big goof ball. He can be a couch potato, or a hiking buddy. One thing to note is that he does have a fear of thunderstorms! He tries to hide under blankets or behind couches to get away from the noise. He does have a habit of “snarling” when excited, but he’s learned to smile at people the way we smile at him!

Story
Max is an 1-year-old male Great Pyrenees who must be neutered before adoption.  He was found as a stray, out in the county, and his owner was never located.  Max is solid white; and has a gorgeous, soft coat.  He weighs 79 pounds so he is a very big guy!  Max is painfully shy and timid.  If you spend time with him he will warm up to you; and eventually, if you are lucky, you will get a tail wag.  Max is a very sweet fellow who just doesn't have a lot of confidence in mankind right now.  He would be fine with children.  If you have another dog, we would required a meet & greet with your dog--to make sure they will get along well with each other.  Max's dream home would have lots of land where he could play.Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120.  Cat/kitten adoption fees are $75.  All pets will be spayed/neutered before adoption; or you will be given a discount spay/neuter certificate to be used at participating vet clinics to help with the cost of spay/neuter.  Our adoption fees cover a microchip, microchip registration, deworming, vaccinations (as age and law requires), and a courtesy vet exam at participating offices. Unless otherwise indicated under 'special needs' our dogs have screened heart worm negative.  January 29, 2026, 4:07 pm

Story
Casper is an 1-year-old male Great Pyrenees who must be neutered before adoption.  He was brought to PAHS as a stray.  Someone found him out in the county and tried, unsuccessfully, to locate his owner.  Casper has a long, white coat that is just beautiful.  He weighs 70 pounds so he is a very big fellow.  Casper is friendly but very shy and timid.  We believe he would be good with children; but, if you have another dog, we would require you to bring your dog to PAHS for a meet & greet with Casper.  This big guy would appreciate acreage where he could be the king of his territory.  Casper would also, not mind having a job, to keep him busy.Dog/puppy adoption fees are $120. Story
Yuki is a 3 year old 86 pound Great Pyrenees! He is being fostered in Huntsville,AL and is available for transport and the approved adopter will be responsible for the transport fee. Yuki was primarily raised as an indoor pup without other pup playmates, so exhibits some stress when alone. He has loved being at his foster’s with a big yard and other dogs to play with. He does well with dogs of all sizes and has quickly realized and become sensitive to the fact that he is too large for some of his 20 lb playmates, which is really good. He has become pretty gentle in his few weeks at his fosters, primarily because he gets a lot of outdoor play time. He does need a pup playmate close to his size that provides him a since of security. He has been diagnosed with a seizure issue and takes daily medication, levetirace, for it. His foster is still learning about him, but so far, he is just a great happy boy. If you are interested in adopting Yuki please fill out an application on our website forrescue.net. He is being fostered in Huntsville, AL.

Story
Miranda is a very gentle, smiley girl! She had come into a shelter I worked at as a stray (I suspect because she was far too friendly to be a guardian dog) and did not enjoy being there at all. She ended up on the euthanasia list, and I just couldnt watch her smile so big (looks like a snarl, but she has a very consistent habit of smiling with lots of teeth!) thinking she was getting play time when it was time to get her on the way to euthanasia. As a result, she came home with me despite me not having the room for another large dog. I recently lost my job due to the business closing, so I am unable to pay for her needs. I have worked with her plenty in order to socialize her to fit into a family. She doesnt jump or paw and is very mild tempered, so she would do great in any family setting!
