Newgat is a beautiful Great Pyrenees looking for a loving new home. She is an indoor dog, fully housetrained, and wonderful with children, other dogs, and cats. Newgat has lived with our family her entire life, so this is not a decision we are taking lightly. We want a safe, permanent home where she will continue living indoors as part of the family. Because Great Pyrenees have breed-specific needs, someone familiar with the breed or other large guardian breeds is preferred. A securely fenced yard is strongly recommended. This is not first come, first served. Potential adopters will be screened, veterinary references may be requested, and a rehoming fee will apply. Located in Oxford, Alabama. This beautiful girl is now named Mattie. She was found on Wyeth Dr. Mattie came into the shelter underweight, loaded with fleas, internal parasites and is heartworm positive. This sweet girl is young at around 2 years and only weighs 50#. She obviously was not well taken care of. It breaks our hearts because she is the most well mannered, patient and affectionate dog. Mattie can be a bit shy at first but give her 2-3 minutes and she’s up against you giving tons of gentle kisses. She has been doing well with the other dogs. We suspect she’s a Great Pyrenees mix. She was a good girl during her bath but is still in need of a good brushing. Mattie is one of those dogs that melts a heart. She’s easy going, quiet, gentle and a big love bug. She is unsure about the leash but once outside the shelter, she does pretty good. TAG is sponsoring her heartworm treatment (Yup, that’s us!) and it was started today. Mattie will be just fine and is expected to make a full recovery. A shelter is nowhere to be when a dog isn’t feeling well. Please consider adopting Mattie. Let’s get her into a loving home. Adoption is $95 and includes wellness exam, DAPP vaccine, rabies vaccine, dewormer, spay, microchip AND her heartworm treatment. UPDATE!!â¨ FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED!! Meet Rosa. This girl is from a local overcrowded shelter. She’s a gorgeous Great Pyrenees… possible mix. Gets along with dogs of all sizes and cats. Shes snuggly and thinks she’s a lap dog. 6-8 months old and 40lbs. She is utd, hw neg (tested below detectable levels) and spayed. Our adoptions are NOT on a first come first serve basis and there is no fee to apply! We never state any animal is fully House-trained. New environments, situations, families, routines, ect. can lead to accidents even with the most well trained animals. All dogs have a $195 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. Deposits can ONLY be submitted once the rescue has been in contact on your approval and it has been requested through Wags and Whiskers. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $145 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow us time to respond to all inquires and applications!
