Story
Meet Cookie Monster — but don’t let the name fool you. This gentle giant isn’t after sweets, just love, comfort, and a second chance. At 91 pounds, this adult male Great Pyrenees is underweight, but his heart is heavy with hope. Cookie Monster has a calm, soulful presence, and though life hasn’t been easy, he still leans into gentle pets and quiet companionship. He’s learning what it means to be a dog — how to play, how to trust, how to truly feel safe. What he needs now is a patient, loving home that will shower him with affection, kindness, and yes — all the cookies he deserves. After all he’s been through, Cookie Monster isn’t just ready for a treat... he’s ready for a lifetime of them. **Volunteer Dog Walker feedback: "I hiked with Cookie Monster. He was a delight. He has a calm and gentle demeanor. Walked at a nice pace. He was second or third from the front and seemed to like that spot. He liked all the dogs, people and was not bothered by the road or cars.H took treats gently".

Story
*** AVAILABLE ON-SITE STARTING WEDNESDAY 6/18 *** Tango is a big, gentle, fluffy pup with a love for people and doggie treats. He plays well with other dogs, but seems happiest inside, snuggling on the couch. He has a calm disposition and is friendly towards everyone, including other dogs and children. He does not jump up on people or on countertops, and he has even learned to sit, waiting for the "Take it!" command, as food is placed in his food bowl. His foster family has found him to be smart and inquisitive. He has mastered several basic commands including sit, lie down, and shake. Tango is good about going outside, but is not yet 100% housebroken. Be sure to take him out regularly, especially after he drinks from his water bowl. He is still learning what he can and cannot chew, but is easily redirected to chew toys. Peanut butter in a large hollow bone is a favorite. Leash walking has been effortless. Tango sleeps peacefully in a large crate at night and naps on the couch during the day. He has a healthy appetite and happily volunteers to test-taste anything being prepared in the kitchen. From his big smile to his big paws, it's clear Tango has more growing to do. His foster family thinks he will be a great companion for any family that loves full size dogs.

Story
(DOB 3/26/2024) Introducing General, a charming pup with a heart of gold! Though he may be a bit shy when first meeting new faces, once he warms up and trusts you, he transforms into a giant teddy bear filled with love and joy. With his exuberant personality and happy-go-lucky demeanor, General is bound to bring endless smiles to your home. This delightful canine enjoys nothing more than belly rubs and gentle pets. He walks well on a leash and is eager to learn even more with the help of his treat-motivated spirit! A quick learner, he thrives on positive reinforcement, making every training session a fun adventure. General keeps his kennel clean and is well-mannered, but he doesn’t like being left alone. He would thrive in a stay-at-home or work-from-home family where he can soak up all the love and attention he craves. He is especially great with kids, though his playful exuberance means he may not realize how big he is, so watch out for those unexpected knocks! One of General's greatest joys is playing with other dogs—he absolutely shines in their company! Therefore, he’ll only be considered for homes with at least one other dog-friendly canine buddy to share his playful spirit and companionship with. While he’s incredibly social, he does have a propensity to roam if given the chance, so a securely fenced yard is necessary for his safety and happiness. General is also a great sharer when it comes to tug toys, but food is his treasure, and he prefers to enjoy his meals solo.  If you’re looking for a sweet and loyal companion who will fill your days with laughter and love, General is the perfect match! Come meet him and see how this gentle giant can steal your heart!  As part of General’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt General, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2297736##

Story
Hello my name is daizy and Maria and we are currently the owners of Benji. We found Benji as a baby as 4 months old in a farm that we got from someone who kept breeding and we felt bad and saw that he had been with his sibling in a cat cage so we got him and took good care of him.now benji is four years old loves to run around he is always happy to greet you at the door and is really protective of you just letting you know if he thinks he hears someone get near the door and he doesn’t know he will bark very loud until he calms down.he has always done that.i am looking for someone who can actually take care of him has a bigger home for him to feel way more comfortable because we live in a one bedroom and it is so small to be very honest.my mom has problems with her right knee so she has a hard time walking Benji and works all night while I don’t live with her ever since I had a baby back in may of 2024 and I do not have transportation to get to my mom and help her please.
