Story
Nipsey is a very sweet and loving dog. Unfortunately due to work, I can no longer keep him. I would like to find him a home where he can be loved and where he can love a new family. He has a Dog House and also 2 cages if ever needed. Also has anti flees medication purchased from chewy.com. He is a Great Pyrenees, for centuries his breed worked to protect flocks of sheep, but today they are better known as family dogs. He has sensitive hearing so he barks a lot. He will alert you if something is wrong. Grooming is a must, and though he has a beautiful coat it does require maintenance to stay beautiful. Shaving his hair will make him incapable of regulating his body temperature. Does not need too much physical activity, 30 minutes a day should be enough. He is very calm, patient, affectionate, and independent. Walking him with a leash is highly recommended otherwise he will want to roam off on his own journey.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Super Sweet girl.Ms Kalei is smart, sweet, and a bit of a goof. Great with other dogs. She is looking for a home where she has a dog buddy. Kalei is crate trained.   She knows sit and is working on other commands.   Kalei loves adventure and would love nothing more than exploring new walking trails or riding in the car. She is a great dog and will make a fabulous family member. Ms Kalei has not had a lot of luck. She was hit by a car when she was very young and came to the rescue with a broken leg. As soon as her leg was healed, we discovered she had a damaged hip as well.   Kalei has had a hip replacement from the car accident, her broken leg and her hip are both good as new - or bionic! She runs and plays with the rest of the pack.     Kalei is looking for a family that will love her forever!  =========================================================  Please contact app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application . Puppies that are under 4 months old cannot be adopted outside of our Veterinary Service area. Please call for specific locations. Children under 8 years old often are not a good match for our puppies and dogs. In order to protect both, your child and our rescued dogs/puppies from harm, we seldom if ever adopt to families with young children.  Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our adoption events. Thank you for considering a rescue! The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it. NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others. AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you. Story
Lily was adopted from our local shelter in 2021. She’s 3 years old. We would like for her to go to a family that treats their dogs like family. She needs a yard to run around and play in. She’s never been around Livestock. I like to call her Lily Bug, so she might respond to that as well. •Breed: Great Pyrenees/Labrador Retriever mix •Spayed and Microchipped •Has dewclaws on all four feet •Vaccines: Due •Preventative: Up to Date •Behavior: Potty trained, crate trained, not really fond of certain men, afraid of loud noises and bad weather (we have to give her calming chews in advance if we know it’s going to rain). She does like to dig, but I’m sure it’s because she was bored. •Cats: she does live with two cats but she is in her crate when the cats are out. She does chase opossums so a house with cats probably wouldn’t be best. •Dogs: she doesn’t seem to like our 2 y/o husky (neutered male) but she plays with my moms other dog that stays in a large outdoor kennel.
