Hi, I'm Kristin! I'm really enjoying the retired life so far! I've discovered the joy of naps, toys, leisurely walks, counter surfing, snuggles and ear scritches! I'm still figuring some other things out, like just exactly how do doors work?! I find them just a little perplexing and have been fooled more than once, especially the clear ones! Aside from my suspicions of what doors are actually up to I'm real chill and get along with everyone: adults, kids, dogs of all sizes; I'm still deciding how excited I feel about cats though. CTW Walker Rio RE 25A, LE 65882Hi I am Walker! I love people, toys, treats and walks. I have a gentle and sweet disposition. I'm a bit of a Velcro dog, meaning I am attached to my humans and I love being petted. I do well in my kennel but I would prefer not to be kenneled overnight. I still need to learn some manners and need some obedience training. Especially learning what is mine.  I can be a somewhat vocal so I would probably do best in a home rather than in an apartment or townhouse setting. Ken Howard, R 109A, L 74122An update on Dean: Separation Anxiety:  Pretty minimal in the right environment. He does fine being left at home with other dogs. He will quietly whine to himself if he is in the other room but he will eventually stop or he will come to see us. He sleeps downstairs with the other dog and is okay with that.    Home Environment: He does not need a quiet or non-apartment home! He actually seems to love the busyness of my house where there are lots of people. Dean loves to insert himself in the middle of the action. Foster dad works from home and he said Dean just chills on his dog bed during the day and he goes out to run around a few times. He isn't constantly demanding attention but he is soothed knowing someone is there. I think he would be stressed out in a home where he was alone all the time.     Crate:  He doesn't use one   Personality: He is a cuddly, goofy, playful, velcro dog, who is easygoing with other animals. He took right to our little poodle. He warmed up and trusted us very quickly.    Kids: So far I am not seeing any issues with our children (youngest is 9yo) and Dean. He is not fearful of them or their noise. He listens to them when they tell him to get off the couch. He doesn't seem sensitive to being touched by them.    Second Dog:  Yes- he needs a buddy, but that other dog doesn't need to be a greyhound, he likes his foster brother who is a little poodle and seeks him out to play.  To see other hounds currently in our care please visit the Hounds in Our Care page on our website. SE Thor's Hammer, R71B, L75002Update 11/24/23 on Thor after a couple months in foster: I love toys that make noise, soft toys, and riding in the car and going to stores that give out treats.  Soft beds and fuzzy warm blankets. Does well with roaming the house freely; does not like being in a kennel. Food motivated and needs another hound in the house to help show him how to be a dog. Currently lives with a cat Sept 2023 - Hi. I’m Thor. I’m not quite the god of thunder that I’m named after, in fact I’m a sweet and submissive boy. I’m looking for a home that is pretty quiet with a routine that is consistent and predictable so I can feel comfortable. I’ve got some worries I’m working through. Don’t we all? So, I’ll need my people to be patient with me. I don’t like to admit it but I get scared of new people and it takes me time to warm up. My mom taught me about “stranger danger” and I really took it to heart. Speaking of my heart… the fastest way to it and best way to build trust with me is to take me out walking, preferably a place where there aren’t a lot of other people. I like other dogs and if you had another dog it would really help me to gain confidence in this new world around me. If you’re looking for a sweet, sensitive, submissive boy I could be that boy. B’s Jungle Jim R 76C, L 68988 Hi, I'm Pancake! I wonder if you can guess what my favorite food is? I'll give you a hint: it's a breakfast food. Some of my other favorite things include receiving soft rubs behind my ears, sleeping on my bed most of the day, and resting my head on your lap. I have a very sweet disposition and am a gentle soul. I'm very polite (even to the household cat!), but if you let me on the couch I'm going to tell everyone it's mine and not share it. I like toys, but I really love a nice walk and am very well mannered on the leash. I can be a solo guy or live with another dog. Ark RB TJ Watt, R 12G, L 7515211/27/23: Here's an update on TJ Watt.  How is this guy still in foster?? &#226&#151&#166 He loves squeaker toys and kongs &#226&#151&#166 He enjoys his nightly toothbrush so much he wants to get in on the other dogs brushing too &#226&#151&#166 He needs another dog home or he’ll get sad and pace and howl &#226&#151&#166 He may be vocal only if there’s someone out the window or if he’s confined to an area and a new person comes over and he wants to meet them &#226&#151&#166 He usually doesn’t jump up when excited &#226&#151&#166 He will paw at doors if he wants out or whine  &#226&#151&#166 We do one walk a day (about a mile) and yard time. He’s leery of new things or people on walks but has greatly improved (still wouldn’t call him a city boy - definitely a suburban guy) &#226&#151&#166 He’s small dog and cat friendly with appropriate introductions &#226&#151&#166 He has been friendly to all visiting dogs and often wants to run and play with them &#226&#151&#166 He has let me move/slide him around a bit in bed if I want him over to the side more. He’s a weasel though and wants to wiggle back by you  &#226&#151&#166 Very occasionally he has tried to chew on something he shouldn’t and was easily redirected and quit  &#226&#151&#166 He loves grooming himself  &#226&#151&#166 He is a little nervous on walks and should wear a harness. He needs some reassurance and encouragement in new places. He likes quieter areas. He’ll probably stop walking if there’s a big scary loud car coming by, people/bikers etc.  &#226&#151&#166 He does well in the car  &#226&#151&#166 He strongly prefers to sleep on the bed with his people. I would hope you can train this out of him if you don’t want him snuggling. He sometimes will take the living room though if the bedroom door is left open  &#226&#151&#166 He really loves being by his people a lot and roaches and likes belly rubs &#226&#151&#166 He loves his food! Beware of counter surfing behaviors.  &#226&#151&#166 He takes treats gently  &#226&#151&#166 H e’s on a prescription hydrolyzed diet for food allergies  &#226&#151&#166 He’s negative for worms!   &#226&#151&#166 Doesn’t need to be kenneled when you leave. He will sleep or play with toys  July 2023: Hi, I’m TJ Watt, I’m just a country/suburban kind of boy, stuck in the city, hoping to find a home where you hear more crickets than cars. My love for a quiet and slower way of livin’ is pretty strong. All this fuss with the beep beep and the vroom vroom and the hustle with the bustle, no thanks. All those noises give me such a start that they will stop me dead in my tracks! I don’t need all that stuff. I’m just a simple and goofy boy who wants some belly rubs and snuggles (and also a yard and another dog buddy).
