Story
Winnie is a gem! As her confidence has grown, her personality really has started to shine and we expect more is yet to come! Like all greyhounds Winnie loves nap time, but she especially loves a good zoomie in the backyard and will till your garden bed for free! Winnie does well on a leash but will occasionally get excited about small critters and birds. We haven’t seen any signs of sleep startle and Winnie is great around small kiddos who are respectful of a dogs’s space. Aside from meal time, Winnie’s favorite time of day is first thing when you wake up and this is when her true personality shines. She’s the silliest, wiggliest and most cuddly greyhound. Winnie still needs a lift into the car and lots of encouragement, but we’ve seen progress and expect with exposure and time she’ll learn that car rides can take her to fun and exciting places! Winnie would do well as an only dog with an active family. She’s also benefited from having a non-greyhound friend to show her the ropes and even likes to play.

Story
Frisco is a beautiful dog and was returned to us through no fault of his own. He is a boy that enjoys cuddling and will do well in a home where he has the opportunity to see what the world has to offer. He hasn't experienced much of the world. He is settling in well to his foster home. Frisco has lived with cats, a golden retriever and a bunny. He would do best having the company of another dog in the home. After his upcoming dental he will be available to a lucky family for adoption.

Story
Aston Ultimate – Wilbur to his friends – has a stellar pedigree: his Dad and Grandad are two of Australia’s most famous greyhounds: and he looks every inch a champion with a gorgeous steel blue coat and elegant white bib and spats. High hopes and good looks are, of course, no guarantee of success and while Wilbur is listed on FastTrack (Greyhound Racing Victoria’s official register) as a racing dog, he has never competed and has retired as a very fit puppy rather than a seasoned track star. At only 2 ½ years old, Wilbur is fully grown but is still full of puppy energy and curiosity with a huge love of life and people. Life at a training site in rural Victoria has given him some basic skills, but he’s just beginning to discover the wonderful things the wider world has to offer, from dogs that don’t look like him to squeaky toys; sidewalks and traffic to stairs and Scooby snacks. We think Wilbur will be happiest in a home with a fenced yard cared for by a family who can teach him how to enjoy an active pet life.

Story
We wondered why a cute little tortoiseshell girl with melting brown eyes would be called “Concrete Sal” by her racing owners, and of course it turned out to be a tribute to her Dad “Hard Style Rico”, whose amazing racing record included winning the Melbourne Cup. Her name didn’t inspire a hard-charging racing style – indeed, Lacey’s speed and athleticism in training rather deserted her in competition, and she retired after 18 starts and zero wins. Now this lovely young girl – she’s just 60lbs and will turn four in August – is adjusting to civilian life with much more enthusiasm and a hugely wagging tail. After a lifetime with nothing but greyhounds, she is a little uncertain of dogs who don’t look like her, but is very polite when introduced properly. Lacey loves to run, and we think a well-fenced back yard where she can let off steam with regular 30 second zoomies will make her a very happy pet.

Story
Ariel is 3 years old. Her professional name is derived from her mom, who as Circle of Dreams was famous racer who won over $250k on Australian tracks. Ariel only circled the track 32 times in a brief career that proved a sunny personality does not always translate to a drive to win. Retired for just 3 months she weighs in at a little under 60lbs and looks like a million dollars: a classic ebony girl with tiny white highlights, making her appear effortlessly chic even when she gets goofy and decides to pick up toys while wearing a muzzle. Ariel loves to explore and play and is very happy to meet and interact politely and calmly with dogs of all shapes and sizes, so we are hopeful she may also be cat trainable – check out our facebook page and group for updates.

Story
Archie is a good-looking guy of four who ran 98 times as ‘Fast Milkman’ before hanging up his racing colors with a respectable record and over Aus $140,000 in prize money. He inherited his black coat with white details from a famous grandsire, Barcia Bale, and his racing weight of 77lb emphasizes his elegant, long-legged frame. Like many dogs who’ve been focused on track life, he can be a little shy around new people and unfamiliar situations, but when he relaxes he’s full of fun and can be quite chatty if he thinks he’s not getting enough attention. Hanging out with other hounds is very reassuring for Archie, who relishes a good sniff and some gentle play. We’d love Archie to find a forever home with an easy routine he can rely on and a well-fenced yard for the occasional zoomie.
