Story
Meet Violet! Violet may be one-eyed, blind and deaf, but don’t let that fool you ~ this girl is still living her best adventurous life. Found as a stray, Violet took to the skies on a volunteer flight to freedom at Miri's Haven. She loves strolling the yard, politely requesting pats and attention, and if fried chicken enters the house, she will locate it with shocking accuracy. Violet may be adorable, but she has standards: soft beds are required, fluffy blankets are mandatory, and rolling around in said blankets is a daily ritual. She is house trained when kept on a schedule and taken out regularly, and she's looking for a home without stairs. Or with a human servant prepared to carry her up and down like the Beagle Queen she is - either will do. Violet adores pets and attention, and absolutely loves food - and even the smell of it! This smart girl is food- and scent-motivated, and she's learning how much fun snuffle mats are. She especially loves snacking on dried sweet potato. Violet isn't leash-trained but loves to be outside, so she's looking for a home with a fenced in yard where she can do all the sniffing her heart desires. She'll do best in a family that can provide structure and a consistent routine. Violet is a great passenger in the car, sleeps soundly through the night, and doesn't mind staying home when her humans are out. She gets along well with everyone - kids, cats, and other dogs included. She needs daily eye drops but takes them easily like a great patient. Violet is a sweet old soul with a gentle heart and a nose that absolutely works overtime. She is so ready to bring her cozy, loving vibes into a forever home...could it be yours? Violet is approximately 12 years old and 20 lbs. Fostered in Severn, MD Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
APPLICATION LINK: https://shaynesrescue.com/adoption-application-pet-central-satx/ We must have an application to move forward. (Shayne's Rescue is an affiliate with PetCentralSATX). If there are problems with the website, please email me for help. CAROB is a wonderful dog…Basset mix. DOB 2/14/25, current weight 28#s. She came to us in November along with her sister and mother. Carob’s processing was delayed because she was pregnant. We let her have her pups and she did a great job of caring for them and they will soon be advertised. BUT… Carob is ready to go now. She is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and is a very loving and affectionate dog. She loves to go outside to run and play with the other dogs. She plays with many of my dogs like she’s just a pup. She leaves my 3 cats alone…for the most part. I do have one cat that literally likes to wrestle with her and she loves it. For the most part, she is house trained but needs to learn how to tell you she needs to go out. We do have our dogs on a regimen which allows her to do her business outside regularly. Even though her official name is Carob (based on the name for chocolate) she was called “Mama” most of the time…and this name she knows. She does like to be outside for hours (of course it’s warmer down here in Texas) but she’ll come in when called. She walks on the leash with enthusiasm and rides in the car with no problems. She loves to go everywhere and everyone is a friend. She is crate trained…but can do her Basset Hound howl when she needs to go out. We do not recommend adopting her to anyone living in an apartment. CAROB is a fantastic, loving dog. She’ll make someone a great companion and will be good with children. This dog is CURRENTLY IN TEXAS and available for pre-adoption. Adoptions include neuter/spay, vaccinations (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies), microchip, health certificate, transport with our professional dog transporter, and 6 mos of heart worm prevention. You will receive the dog's folder with all the printouts proving the medical treatments received. You can ask us about how pre-adoption works and our "trial period." Adoption Fee: Includes all of the vetting and transportation to WA/OR. If you have any questions or would like an e-mail from us as to how all of this works, text me (Terry); identify the dog's name and give me your email address... 210-394-6060. You can also go to our Facebook page... https://www.facebook.com/Pet-Central-SATX-866684826744181/ and LIKE us to help us out. After we review your application, we will contact you, and you will have the opportunity to find out more from their foster family or the rescue. If you experience any issues filling out the application you can contact us directly at shaynerescue@gmail.com. This is ONLY if you have problems applying. If you have not applied, you will not receive a response so please only email if you have any issues applying. Thank you for choosing to adopt a rescue pup/dog. We firmly believe there is NO breed other than "rescue" for all species. Thank you for being part of the village it takes to save these precious lives.

Story
BEAU IS A COURTESY POST - IF INTERESTED, EMAIL INFO@PETEY&FURENDS.ORG Name: Beau Sex: Male Estimated Age: About 10 months old (as of 1/16) Best Guess for Breed: Basset Mix Weight: About 30 lbs (as of 1/16) Lives With: Dogs and cats…and does great with all people! Housebroken? He’s working on his potty training and making great progress! Story: Beau is a happy little guy found on the streets of DC. After a week, no owners have responded, and so his finder/foster is looking for a good home. Beau is friendly with dogs and cats, and people. His foster doesn’t have children but he has been calm and happy around them on walks. He is absolutely delightful - he loves going on walks and playing with toys, people, and his resident dog brother. He is a smart cookie and picks up on potty training and basic commands super fast. Beau could go to a home with or without other pets. He’s an ideal age for continued socializing and adapting to probably any environment. He currently lives in a city apartment and is content, though he of course is happy trotting around outside in fields. Beau is a healthy and sturdy dog; basset caretakers do have to take special considerations to protect their backs including being careful about how rough and with whom they play, and using stairs instead of jumping off furniture. He is up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. If you think that Beau might be your perfect match, please email info@peteyandfurends.org.January 20, 2026, 5:58 pm
