Story
There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. Puppies are so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them lost and alone on city streets or at a high-kill shelter at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space. Juneau is an adorable, 5 month old, 18lb Bearded Collie / Havanese mix. Of course, this is just our best educated guess based on his appearance — we do not DNA test rescue dogs. This sweet boy was found starving and alone in rural Texas, struggling to survive out in the countryside. He was heartbreakingly skinny, filthy, and so very sad when he was rescued. Thankfully, those days are behind him now! Juneau is safe now in Colorado with one of our wonderful fosters in Boulder, where he’s finally learning what it means to be loved and able to be a normal puppy! Now that he’s getting proper care, good food, and lots of affection, Juneau is absolutely blossoming. He still needs a good groom to help him look as fabulous as he feels, but otherwise he is healthy, happy, and gaining weight beautifully. He’s discovering how fun it is to just be a puppy — playing, cuddling, exploring, and soaking up all the love he can get. Juneau is wonderful with other dogs and has a happy-go-lucky personality that shines more every day. He was understandably a little shy when he first arrived after everything he’s been through, but with a treat and some kindness he warmed up quickly and is now showing us his sweet, silly, playful puppy side. Since Juneau is just a baby, he's a blank slate who is very open to a kind and patient human showing him the way. He has all the potential in the world to become an awesome adult companion. Sweet Juneau will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn his socialization skills through positive reinforcement / force- free obedience classes. It does take time and commitment, yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you out in the world with excellent behavior. Since Farfel's feels very strongly about giving Juneau the best possible start in life, we're not willing to adopt him out to a home that's unwilling to participate in a training protocol. We're happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement / force- free virtual and in-person trainers in your area. We're open to Juneau finding his forever home with someone who works from home and has the time and energy to train a puppy. He would also do wonderfully with a retired couple or individual with the commitment and energy to train and enjoy a silly and super-smart puppy. Juneau has not yet been tested with young children. Because of this, we would prefer to place him in a home with either no children or older, respectful kids who understand how to appropriately interact with a puppy. Farfel's feels that is isn't in Juneau's best interest to be placed with a family that works full-time outside of the home. It's not in his best interest as a puppy in his developmental stages to spend these long hours alone. A family or individual that works from a home-based office would be great for periodic puppy-loving and walks throughout the day. Juneau will be up to date on his vetting and vaccinations to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy puppies. He has also been neutered to be true to Farfel's work in hopes of eradicating euthanasia for space in the canine population. Juneau is available for adoption now. Applications are currently being accepted for this beautiful puppy with the great personality. Apps can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/. If interested please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Juneau, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving puppy. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Story
Meet Kodabear 🐾 Kodabear is a sweet “COVID puppy” who grew up primarily indoors, so the big world can feel a little overwhelming at first. He’s naturally shy and may come across as vocal or cautious when meeting new people or animals- he tends to bark and may nip at ankles until he feels safe. But give him time and patience, and you’ll see his true personality shine. Once Kodabear warms up, he becomes incredibly affectionate, loyal, and loves to cuddle with his person. He forms strong bonds and is very protective of those he trusts. He can coexist with other animals, but slow introductions are key, as he needs extra time to adjust. Kodabear would do best with an experienced, patient adopter (w/o other animals/children preferred, but can live with other animals/children) who can help him build confidence and continue working on socialization and training. With the right home, Kodabear has so much love to give and will make a devoted companion. 🖤
