Story
Coal came to us as a stray (well, sort of). He was found on someone's property, and they wanted to keep him. We walked them through the legal process of a stray hold, and once the hold was up, they adopted him. Not long after his adoption, they surrendered him. They ony had him a few days so it is still difficult to rule in or out anything. We did our usual assessments. The only thing we noticed that wasn't what we label a green behavior was his intorduction to other dogs. He wants to be dominant and is very pushy about it. The dog he met with was also dominant, but was willing to give it up to keep the peace with Coal. He can be rude when meeting another dog but he is very respectful when the other dog gives a warning. We are requiring a meet-and-greet if there are other dogs in the home. This animal is already spayed or neutered and their adoption fee is free. All dogs receive at least 1 distemper/parvo and Bordetella vaccine. If possible a heartworm test will be done and if negative the dog will be started on heartworm prevention. All animals receive a flea and parasite prevention/treatment and will be microchipped. All animals can go home the same day as adoption. We will need your photo ID and you will sign some documents. Adopters will also receive a copy of the animal's medical history to date. We do not do an application process. All adoptions are first come, first serve. We do not offer holds. We do not require in most cases that adopters bring all their families members and dogs for a meet and greet. But we do highly encourage it. We are happy to introduce the new dog to your dog(s) at the shelter. No appointment necessary. We do offer home trials of dogs over 6 months of age for about a week. You will not need to pay the adoption fee (spay neuter deposit) ahead of time, but if you decide to adopt you will need to return to the shelter to complete the paperwork and pay the adoption deposit. If you do not wish to complete the adoption, you can bring the dog back at any time during normal business hours during your home trial period. We do not allow after hours drop off.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Please contact Ashley (ha.evans@yahoo.com) for more information about this pet. Online Adoption Application › Memphis is an adorable pocket sized husky. Hes around 7-8 years old (best guess).  He has proven to do great with some dogs but can sometimes be alittle selective so a meet & greet between dogs if a potential adopter has other dogs already will be required at this time. Other than being a little picky about who he hangs with amongst the k9s, he's an extremely sweet dog.  When hes with his people is incredibly affectionate and loves to cuddle. He is crate trained and knows some basic commands. Memphis is neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, current on his shots and monthly preventatives.  He may be a seasoned adult but he still has alot of love to give and has proven he may be an older gent but he can still learn new tricks ;)  A little TLC and with someone whos willing to continue to work with him and we are confident he will continue to flourish into an amazing companion for a lucky family !!  Apply at: https://care.rescuegroups.org Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 15, 2025, 11:39 am
