Story
Meet Bolt! Bolt is a 7-year-old, medium-sized Husky mix who’s been described by those who know him best as an absolute hoot! He may have a little life experience under his belt, but don’t let that fool you — he still loves his daily walks, taking in all the sniffs, and proudly performing his “dog duties.” Bolt is a social guy who enjoys meeting new people and will happily join you for a stroll or a quick romp in the yard. Afterwards, he’s more than content to kick back and relax by your side — quality time with his favorite human is his favorite reward. This smart, loyal boy is a proud graduate of the Paws Behind Bars training program, where he learned how to be the best companion he can be and discovered how much he loves pleasing his person. He’s fully potty trained, crate trained, rides like a champ in the car, and simply enjoys being part of whatever’s going on. Bolt gets along with other dogs when introduced properly, though he’s more of a “hangout buddy” than a playmate. However, he’s not a fan of cats or small animals, so a feline-free home is best for him. If you’re looking for a loyal, laid-back companion with a touch of Husky humor, Bolt just might be your perfect match. Our adoption process begins with submitting an application online.

Story
Meet Gracie 🐾🤍 Gracie is a 2-year-old Husky/Collie mix whose soulful eyes truly say it all. Behind that stunning face is the sweetest, most gentle girl you could ever hope to meet — quietly brave and learning every day that the world can be safe and kind. Gracie’s early life was not easy. She experienced severe emotional neglect and very little socialization before being rescued after her previous owner tragically passed away. Despite her difficult start, Gracie has shown nothing but softness and resilience. She is now safely in foster care, where she is discovering the outside world, building confidence, and learning how to trust. In her foster home, she has four canine sisters who she looks to for guidance and reassurance. Watching her gain confidence by following their lead has been beautiful to see. Because of this, a home with a confident canine companion is strongly preferred — it helps her feel secure and continue blossoming. ✨ Gracie’s highlights: • Crate trained (and she truly loves her crate — it’s her safe space!) • Fully potty trained • Wonderful in the car • A big fan of pup cups and drive-thru bank treats • Gentle, quiet, and incredibly sweet Gracie will need a patient and understanding forever family committed to continuing her socialization and confidence-building. She would do best in a home with older children who can respect her gentle nature. A secure, fenced yard is required so she can safely explore and continue gaining confidence at her own pace. Gracie doesn’t need perfection — she just needs kindness, patience, and someone who will show her that her hardest days are behind her. In return, she will give you the softest love and the most loyal heart. If you’re ready to help this beautiful girl write her next chapter, Gracie is waiting. 🐶💛

Story
Hi. My name is Ali. I am a happy and healthy 4 year old dog. I love hiking, running, swimming, and playing. I am super gentle, not food aggressive, very funny, and all around a wonderful dog. I love people. Very gentle with kids. I do require space to run and play. I rarely bark. I am good with other dogs after I've gotten to know them. This far, i often get overwhelmed in dog parks, but likely could be trained to overcome this obstacle. I will pull on the leash from time to time but correct when consistently walked. Cats and I haven't quite settled our differences. I am microchiped. I will come packed with my food, xl crate, and toys to my new home. Ali is not property to be sold, there is no rehome fee. Hoping for the right person/family to see him and just know he would fit.

Story
TITUS came into rescue from a hoarding case. He was somewhat under-socialized and had never been off of the owner's property. At 4 years old and around 65 pounds, this boy is like a blossoming flower! He is absorbing everything his dog trainer in the Paws Behind Bars Prison Training Program is teaching him and is morphing into a friendly, playful, wonderful companion dog! He is good with other dogs of all sizes and is house trained / potty trained and knows obedience commands such as "down, touch, sit, wait" and more! He would love a fenced in yard where he can run and play and an owner that knows the Husky breed would be helpful! He has not been destructive in our care like some in this breed can be. Titus is a beautiful boy and deserves a family that will give him attention and take him on walks / hikes. Yes he loves the snow and has had a good time this winter since there has been plenty of it! If you think you might be a good match for Titus, please contact us at email - blueridgerescue@aol.com

Stormi is a wonderful, laid back dog, who never goes to the bathroom in the house, and likes the cold weather and snow. She isn’t your average husky mix because she is not noisy or talks a lot. She has been so sweet and protective to our children.
