Story
Donut has the most perfect eyeliner and one brown/one blue eye that any would make any social media influencer jealous! Donut is super affectionate, and always ready for a big adventure or a lazy day cuddling on the couch! She loves walks, she will keep your yard safe from squirrel invasions, absolutely adores snuggles, and delights in romping in the backyard with her foster siblings. Donut loves all toys that squeak, and is learning to play fetch in the backyard. She would make a great running or hiking companion, would be really good at learning agility skills, or spending her day greeting coworkers at your office. She would absolutely LOVE to be allowed in the human bed at night, but is also quite content sleeping in a crate in the bedroom. She really loves ear/belly rubs and will gladly sit at your feet or lean on your legs as long as you keep petting her! Donut hasn’t met a treat she didn’t like, with the exception of carrots which were not her favorite. Her ideal home would have dog siblings who would be interested in playing with her, and maybe even some cat friends who felt confident enough to engage in play also! Donut MUST have a fenced in backyard or be on a leash for walks, as she really loves adventures but needs a human companion to keep her safe. Donut has shown gentle interactions with children aged 3-10 and would be a great addition to any family! Adopt the sweetest Donut today and your home will be sprinkled with many happy memories for years to come!Donut is super affectionate, very gentle, and always ready for a big adventure or a lazy day cuddling on the couch. Donut gets very excited about all treats and toys, and is getting really good at playing fetch. She would make a great running or hiking companion, spending her day greeting coworkers at your office, or meeting the kids as they get off the school bus. She really loves ear/belly rubs and will gladly sit at your feet or lean on your legs as long as you keep petting her! Donut’s ideal family would be active and take her for long walks several times a week, and she would really like some canine or human siblings to play with. Story
Jax is a typical male husky who loves to play with other dogs (and even cats!). He will happily curl up with you on the couch and loves belly rubs, but is equally happy going on walks (though he needs a little leash training) or running around outside with other dogs. Jax has gorgeous blue eyes and a red coat. He was found as a stray and never claimed, and is about 2-3 years old and 50 pounds. He is housetrained and knows how to sit, and is quickly picking up on other new tricks. Jax would benefit from an owner who is familiar with the breed and its antics! He is very intelligent and needs mental and physical exercise! Jax also needs a "husky" type fence to keep him safely confined. Story
Wolf is a sweet, big baby who is full of energy and looking for a young family to love and become part of their pack. He likes kids and everyone he meets, as long as they aren't a cat! He also plays too rough with small toy breeds, but gentle as a lamb with children. He is a purebred, but does not have papers.

Story
Meet Noelle.  She is a 3 year old husky/pitbull mix. She is a medium/large dog and will need a privacy fenced yard. Noelle is very independent and smart, so she needs someone familiar with those personality traits and willing to train her and give her a job as she aims to please!  If you would like to make Noelle a part of your family, fill out an application at  www.barktownrescue.org.  Adoption Fee for Noelle: $170The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in.  Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!    February 21, 2024, 3:44 pm

Story
My sister adopted this puppy in January, but her boyfriend did not like it because he had a female dog, and the 6-8 month old puppy had not yet been neutered. I took him in to get him neutered, house train him and do some obedience training to prepare him for adoption by a forever fur parent. Finn is satisfied to hang out though loves to run and play with the neighbor's labra doodle a couple times a day. He non-aggressively chases our 2 cats, which they don't appreciate. His fur is so, so soft. Finn has never growled at adults or humans or the neighborhood dogs - he is a gentle big boy. He walks on my left side on a fixed length leash and pinch collar, he will "come", "down", " get back". We are still working on "stay". I have mixed feelings about giving him away, but believe he deserves a family that will include Finn in more activity than we do.
