Story
Meet Stella! A spirited one-and-a-half-year-old Siberian Husky mix currently Trenton, NJ, whose essence is a vibrant blend of intelligence, loyalty, and quiet confidence wrapped in a lightly golden coat with beautiful white accents. Guided by months of dedicated training and thoughtful care, this medium-sized girl is growing into an impressive companion who thrives when surrounded by people who understand and respect her unique personality. Weighing about 55 pounds, Stella enjoys the simple joys of life: long walks, adventurous hikes, energetic games of tug-of-war, relaxing car rides, and settling into her favorite crate or quiet space after a fulfilling day. She is house-trained, crate-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. She also knows an impressive list of commands, including sit, down, stay, heel, place, and yes-marker cues that help with recall and redirection. Stella’s caregivers invested more than six months in proactive training with Greenleaf Pet Resort, helping her reach an impressive neutrality rate around other dogs. As part of her rehoming program, Stella comes with fully paid lifetime professional training support through Greenleaf Pet Resort, giving her future family ongoing access to expert guidance and training resources for the rest of her life. She is remarkably quiet, having barked only twice in seven months, and prefers communicating through gentle body language and the occasional whimper when she feels overwhelmed. Like many intelligent dogs who thrive with structure, Stella needs an experienced adult-only family who understands positive reinforcement and advocacy. She is not compatible with cats or other dogs and requires a fenced yard. Stella has a history of biting when unfamiliar people attempt to touch her without her consent or before trust has been established, making it especially important that her family carefully manage introductions and advocate for her personal space. She can become uncomfortable when unfamiliar people attempt to pet her, so she needs patient adopters who will allow her to initiate contact, carefully read her body language, and respect her boundaries. When trust develops, Stella shows her affection by nudging a hand for attention and sharing quiet moments with the people she loves. Her digestive concerns are now being successfully managed through a carefully balanced veterinary diet, and she comes with complete medical and behavioral records, as well as pet insurance. Long-distance adoption is welcomed for the right match! Stella is ready for a new loving home with people who will champion her needs and celebrate her progress every step of the way. Could your family be the one to help Stella write her next great adventure? To learn more, contact adopt@joyfulpets.com! Content Notice: This pet is represented by Joyful Pets. Story
Badger was supposed to quietly die at the shelter. He was listed as an 8-year-old husky mix and when he first arrived here, I honestly thought he was even older and possibly a hospice case. He was stiff, skinny, frozen in fear, and barely moved. But once I put him with younger dogs, something changed. Little by little, Badger started acting young again. He started following the other dogs around, exploring the property, splashing in the pond, and rediscovering happiness. Now he feels like an entirely different dog. I do not know his exact age, but I genuinely believe he is younger than the shelter estimated and he clearly still has a lot of life left in him. Badger now weighs around 60 lbs and is an awesome dog to live with. He walks well on leash, is extremely food motivated, and loves being part of daily life. He is also incredibly good with other dogs and especially gentle with puppies. He lets them climb all over him and will even let them steal his food without reacting. He did eventually figure out how to climb out of the 6-foot chain link kennel, because husky. But unlike a typical husky, he has absolutely no desire to run off or disappear. He mostly stays near the kennel area, follows me on walks, or goes down to the pond for a quick dip before coming back. I honestly don’t even put him up when I leave because he simply doesn’t go anywhere. Badger does great with other dogs overall, though because of his size and goofy personality, he would probably do best with dogs that are confident and not easily intimidated. He is fine with my tiny Chihuahuas because they are bossy and fearless, but very nervous little dogs may get overwhelmed by him simply because he does not fully understand how big he is. Good fit: someone looking for a loyal, goofy, easygoing companion who still has plenty of life and adventure left in him without the nonstop chaos of a young husky. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (neutered/spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $450 (includes transport + vetting) Bonus: Each adoption includes a 30-minute phone consultation with a professional trainer Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, NY, NJ Think you might be a good fit?
