Story
This is a mighty special boy who is NOT special needs despite only having 3 legs. Oscar is missing his front right leg and it does not slow him down at all. His foster mom takes him on long walks daily and he loves them. If she gets busy and does not take him, he whines at hurt like his feelings are really hurt. He jumps into the van by himself and he loves to go on rides, really he barks if she loads up another dog and does not take Oscar. The foster mom tries to give all of the dogs equal time in the love and attention area. Oscar went riding in a subdivision where the Christmas lights were plentiful and he loved it, he rode and looked at the lights as if he were a real 2-legged little boy. So it is safe to say that Oscar's foster mom spoils him and gives him more attention and love because we feel he deserves it. Oscar is 4 years old and 60 pounds. All he knew all his life was being chained up in someone's yard. Oscar got tired of it and chewed through his cable chain and got loose. Something horrible happened to him but he made his way back home. The foster mom lives on the same street so the owners called her over and begged her to help him. She called me and Roxy's K-9 Rescue took him to the vet where they cleaned him up immediately and assessed the situation. There was so much damage that they only option was to amputate his leg. If you would like to see his wound pictures, I can email them to you. Oscar is now a Roxy's K-9 Rescue dog as the owners surrendered him not wanting a tri-pod dog. But nothing is wrong with him, Oscar has no disabilities or special needs except to need love and a safe, happy home. He gets along with all of the dogs that are in the home, big and small. He does not bother them and they do not bother him. He is more focused on hanging out and following his foster mom around. He is completely healed from his amputation, no medications or special instructions are required for him. Wouldn't you like a warm loving guy who is not destructive and appreciates a good home? There is another video of him playing with a toy that I can provide. We transport across the United States. Thank you.

Story
Max is a 2 yo old husky mix pup, who is super sweet and friendly. He loves attention and hugs and always welcomes new people with a huge smile. His foster mom says that he is a happy-go-lucky boy who is very polite with everyone and doesn’t have any behavioral issues. He is well-socialized and acts confidently with all pups. Max is being fostered with three 45 lbs female dogs. He is friendly with all dogs of all sizes. He is very playful with dogs and likes to play catch and seek in the backyard. Max is Good with children. His foster mom has 2 granddaughters age 5 and 7. Max is potty-trained. He is Ok being crated but his foster mom doesn’t like to crate any dogs. He is Medium energy. Max H is fairly calm inside the house but once he goes into an open field, he will have zoomies and run in circles for about 10 min. He is very respectful of rules and will only play in his space and with his own toys inside the home. He needs to go out on 15-20 minutes walk at least once a day to release his energy. He knows “sit” and “stop” in Spanish. He walks fine on leash but could use some more training with it. Because Max H is a very intelligent dog, he would benefit from training or from activities where he is highly stimulated. It would be good for him to learn more commands. He would enjoy living in a house with another dog who is as active as he is. Having physically active parents would be great for him because he is a dog who likes the outdoors and walking every day. Max is 74 lb, heartworm negative, neutered, is microchipped and is on heartworm and flea prevention. He can travel to most states and Canada for the right home. A fully fenced yard is mandatory for our dogs. Max was given to the original owner, an elderly lady on a wheelchair, by the owner’s friend. This friend had a female dog who had 4 puppies and Max H was one of them. The owner took care of Max for one year when she passed away. She trained him to bring things to her and to walk at the same pace as her. When Max’s owner passed away, her daughter decided that she didn’t want any dogs in her home and almost dropped Max H at a local shelter. Max’s foster mom volunteered to take care oh him since she was afraid that he wouldn’t survive the local pound.

Special Needs: NA- just gentle, positive reinforcement training, like all shelter dogs Radley and his sibling, Chilli, were dumped on a back country road. Roaming from place to place and having to fend for themselves until they ended up in the yard of our Intake Coordinator. They were brought into our shelter to try and find them a home. Radley has done very well with other dogs, but can guard food/water. He is wonderful with people and excellent with children. Radley is a 1 yr old male, 42lb husky mix. He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. An experienced husky owner is preferred and a fence is required. No small animals.

Story
Sammy is a 7 year-old Husky mix with a beautiful bushy tail, and a craving for love from a new forever home and family.Sammy weighs 66 pounds with beautiful thick white and grey fur perfect for winter weather. He thrives on love and attention and has perfected the art of singing for that pat on the head and hugs. He is a sweet, loving boy and he loves being with people. Dogs and children make him happy, and he is ready for fun and games inside and outside. Whether he is eager to meet felines is currently unknown.Sammy is house and crate trained, and he continues to work on his leash training. Rescue dogs have been through many changes, and accidents can be expected as they settle into a new environment. If crate training is planned, Sammy needs a crate that is big enough for him to stand and turn around in as well as lie down comfortably. Crates should be cozy, happy places for dogs to hang out. Adopt Sammy, bundle up the kids in their winter woolies, boots, and hats, grab a sled, throw Sammy a snowball, then come inside and warm up with your best new forever friend. The adoption fee for Sammy is $500. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. To get the ball rolling, head over to our Adoption Application and submit your application today. A Dog Star representative will contact you within 24 hours. Story
Do not miss out on Missy! She is a sweet, tan and white Husky/Black Mouth Cur mix. Missy is 52 lbs. and 7 years old. She is a beloved family dog who must now find a new home.Missy does well with other dogs and is good with kids but can be too much for younger children so she would do best with children over 5 years of age. She feels that cats are not suitable to become of friend of hers so she would need a cat free home. She can hang with other dogs and enjoy the company. This girl might be older, but she can still keep up with the younger crowd. This clever girl walks nicely on a leash and is crate and house trained too. It is important to remember that although, Missy is house trained, potty accidents can occur while adjusting to a new home environment. She would love to go on a walk with you and relax at your feet. Missy is a great dog with lots of love to give as she gets to know her new people. This beautiful girl is ready to find her new forever home. She is well beyond the puppy stage but still has playful energy. Like with any adoption, it will take time to adjust to new surroundings and people, but this sweet gal will do well in a home that offers her care and compassion. The adoption fee for Missy is $300. That includes the cost of spaying/neutering, up to date vaccinations, foster care, rescue and transportation fees. Cyrus was a foster failure we took him in to our home around 10 weeks old. He bonded with our dogs and with me personally that is why we chose to keep him. He is 8 years old the most loving affectionate dog. Not aggressive whatsoever with our other dogs and does very well with children just seems to be competing for affection since we don’t have the extra time to really do things with him. We are looking for a home that can be around and give him more than what we can since we have added children to our family and don’t have that time like we used to. It saddens me to even have to do this but he deserves to be with people who have more time for him💙

Story
Welcome Bailey Blue to CCPAL Foster Program. She is a 4-year-old and appears to be a pure bred Siberian Husky. She is a little bit chunky at 75 pounds. She is a beautiful Red and White husky with light blue eyes. She is good with dogs her size and smaller dogs. She was very tolerant of a little dominant boy dog that fell in love with her at the Rescue. She has lived in a home with children successfully. She is also around cats but all time with them is supervised. She is potty trained, good on a leash and good in a car. She does not jump up on you which is nice. She has a beautiful coat that will need regular brushing to stay looking beautiful. We would love a previous husky owner for her new family. She would love to live in the cooler more northern climates as she has a beautiful full coat to fully enjoy this type of weather. She would be fine with children and we like them to be 8 or older. Husky dogs need a good fenced yard. She is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont, Conneticut or all along the East Coast. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states.Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
*hair blowing in the wind (even though she's indoors)* *unexplained sparkles in the air* *faint heavenly music* Yes, she is me. Chloe. Now that you are blinded by my beauty, let me explain why I am the absolute best girl on the inside too and so deserving of your (and everyone's) undivided adoration. I'm loyal, smart as a whip, and FUN, just to name a few. Unfortunately, I didn't come from the most glamorous beginnings. I was an outdoor doggy with not much interaction from birth and my family also left me behind when they moved. Thus, I wasn't really brought up interacting with you humans or being touched/handled. I've had my quirks while adjusting to being a family dog and will definitely need someone patient and understanding with me. (If you get too touchy right away, I don't like that and will try to protect myself.) However, if you are slow and gain my trust I will HANG on your every move. I have adjusted very quickly in the past with proper introductions to people. Even still, I would probably do best in a home without young children. I'm a lady after all and need time to sniff you out before you get grabby. I am an active girl and love to feel the wind in my hair outdoors too. I run with the speed of light and have a prey drive to sniff out bugs, lizards and more. I also love to play tug of war and fetch with my foster mommy inside. I bounce, bounce, bounce all the time! I am great on leash so walks and hikes would be great for me. Getting my energy out will help me focus on training too. I am very smart and learn quickly, but tend to lose interest if I'm still chock full of go, go, go!! With all of this perfection, all of your pet needs should be fulfilled, right? RIGHT? I hope so because I would do great as an only pet in the home. I have been able to co-exist with dogs at the rescue but I am a bit of a diva in my foster home. I have a domineering personality sometimes and will even mark like a male when I come across another dog's scent in my house. How dare they??? Existing? HERE? (She is otherwise house trained.) Considering that you and I know each other a little better now, you may pet me. Yes, I am very soft, I know. Please keep in mind that I am a Chow/shepherd mix and have hair that will require brushing, maybe even the occasional spa treatment, Swedish massage, 24k gold facials...yeahhhhhhhhhh.... Sorry! I forgot you were here. In all seriousness, once I trust you, I will allow you to brush me out without much fuss. It doesn't need to be daily but I am a rough and tumble kinda gal and can use help keeping my locks flowing and free. I also shed so if I seem to be losing my girlish figure, it's probably just extra hair that needs to be brushed off. I hope you have a strong vacuum. ;) I could go on for days about myself, but I'll stop here. Don't wanna overwhelm you. If you think you are up for the challenge of a total spitfire like me, please feel free to send in an application and foster mommy can tell you more about all of the grandeur that is...CHLOE. Story
Haku means "pure" in Japanese! I was named for my pure, passionate and overwhelming love for everyone around me! I came to the rescue when my dad was stationed in Japan and heartbroken that he couldn't take me with him. I've missed him so much ever since! Everyday I do the things I did with him with other dogs so I can try and remember what it felt like to be with him! But it's just not the same. So, I'm hoping a new family can come scoop me up and show me what it feels like to be a part of a home and family again! I am good with other dogs, I love playing chase with them or tugging on chew toys. I'll need a happy and active home so that my life will be full of love and fun! I am a bit anxious and nervous around new people, and people in general! Slow introductions, a safe space I can retreat to like a crate and not forcing me into spaces with tons of people will help me be myself all the time! Haku can only be adopted in the local or TX area. Local adoption only, in San Antonio or TX area, $200.
