Story
We took Duke in from our friends brother. Duke spent 23 out of 24 hours a day in a crate because the owner wasn’t allowed to have him in the house. He was terribly infested with fleas, so I couldn’t let him stay there. Unfortunately I just didn’t know what all was involved in taking care of a husky. He is a great dog. He loves people and other dogs! Our home is very small and he is rather large. He lives outside but we feel like he deserves a better home with more attention for him. He also needs a groomer to handle his coat that is not in the best shape. We can’t afford that and he strongly dislikes any touching on his backside. Other than that he’s not a hard dog. He’s stubborn by nature as that comes with the breed, but he would make any one that has the time for him so happy!

Story
This animal is NOT available through Brother Wolf Animal Rescue. This is a courtesy listing only, so you will need to contact the current owner for more information or to adopt. PLEASE CONTACT THE OWNER AT: call or text: (305) 613-1024 Cody has been with us for 8 years, a great traveling companion and family dog. He loves everyone he meets making him a useless guard dog, but he does look like a serious wolf. He is super mellow for a husky yet very energetic outdoors, super fast when running free in a fenced yard. He has a strong prey drive and he's a whiz at escaping weak fences, but overall a total indoor snuggle buddy. He has some issues with resource guarding with other dogs from time to time, but he has had great play dates with some dogs over the years when we don't include toys or food/treats. Lliving on a farm has proven really difficult for Cody. He occasionally suffers separation anxiety if he feels left out, especially if we're around other animals and he's watching from a distance. In our previous house with a fenced yard, Cody had it easy at home if we left him for an extended time of 4-6 hrs, no crate, no destruction. If ever he were barking when we were leaving we knew he was feeling separation anxiety so we'd resolve it by going inside, giving him a treat and sneaking out quietly while he's calm. If he doesn't stop barking, chances are he will begin to look for a way out and can indeed scratch up a door in an attempt to escape, but we rarely dealt with that and never needed a crate. We believe Cody is ready for a new adventure with a new family or companion. He's really such an amazing dog when in the right environment.

Attention: This is a courtesy posting only! This pet is NOT available through Mountain Pet Rescue.  Please do NOT contact MPR for information about the pet or apply to adopt this pet on the MPR website.  Contact david.shepard@va.gov or 828-280-1333 for more information or to adopt the pet.Coco is young at heart, has a lot of energy and loves to be active and exercise. He jumps up and down when I am about to take him running, which we have been doing for more than 2 years!  He loves to camp outside and explore new horizons. Like all Huskies, he does not mind the snow and cold weather. He is a medium-size dog; not too big, not too small.  Huskies are very social and get along with any person and any dog, even strangers. Because of this, they do not make good guard dogs, but can be a good playful buddy for another dog.He can be short-tempered and protective if provoked and has bitten two people to protect and defend himself and my daughter who takes care of him.We had to give up the fence that kept Coco protected.  Please help us find a new horizon for him.  Contact me today at david.shepard@va.gov or 828-280-1333 to meet handsome Coco! All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Story
Hurry - it`s a handsome husky we have here! Have you ever heard that Siberian huskies can be friendly and intelligent but somewhat independent and stubborn? Steel kinda fits that description. He is friendly but doesn`t need all the lovey, dovey, hands all over him kind of attention. He is the type that likes to just hang out with people. Steel has a calm, playful side that he likes to show off by tossing a toy around and he perks up with excitement when a playful dog is in the play yard next to him. And like most Huskies, he has a beautiful voice. We are pretty sure outside living is what he is accustomed to, with a dry sleeping place of course. What a wonderful thought that he finds a loving home with a big yard to prance around in and a nice porch where he can chill with his people in the evenings. If Steel sounds like a good fit for your lifestyle, come check him out!

Story
ROKY is a pre breed Siberian Husky male in Copper/ White. Roky was a puppy when we first adopted him and has grown into a very handsome Adult, currently @ 1 1/2 years old. Roky has also been raised with (4) other Huskys at home and been living as an indoor & outdoor dog. Roky has also been an incredible Father to (2) litters of Huskys with our 2 female Siberian Huskys, and has shown to be a great dog around children and other people. Roky is not timid in any way, he is a strong male and confident in nature. Roky would make a great family dog and companion to another female dog at home. Because of Roky’s strong nature and healthy male attitude, as he has matured into an adult we have had several bad clashes/ dog fights break out between our older Alpha Male Husky and himself. It has gotten worse over time and Roky has been hurt a few times and we cannot continue to have this situation at home, and Roky deserves to be free of this situation and not clash with another male at home.

Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Skye thrives on her routine and being in a home, and does not enjoy the kennel environment. She really wants to be close to her people. She has some mild separation anxiety as she settles in, but has only torn up paper that she found on the floor. I have a large crate for her, but being shut inside it gives her more anxiety so I leave it open and just shut the door to the room she's in. 🐾Skye's previous life before rescue made her wary of many things, but if you go slow with her and read her body language when she's uncomfortable, she will quickly learn that you are safe and aren't going to cause her any pain. She loves meeting new people and will solicit attention, but continued consent checks are key to making sure she's still enjoying the affection. She loves to snuggle up and to play tug. She is very easy on a leash until she sees a squirrel! Her prey drive is high. She'll pull but once redirected goes back to being chill. Skye needs a home with NO kids, cats, or farm animals. Kids are very scary to her and she would very much like to chase any cat or other critter she sees. Other dogs are okay as long as they won't be too in her face and you can do slow intros so she gets comfortable. 🥰 Feeling safe is key for her after whatever trauma she's been through. Story
Meet Bugatti! He is a 1.5 year old, 36 lbs Husky mix waiting for his perfect forever home! Bugatti was previously feral. He will need someone that will be patient with him as he warms up! He is crate trained and house broken! He walks on leash well, but does not want to be on one all the time. He is also a "hopper" so at least a 5ft fence is preferable! Other than that, he is very easy and wonderful. He's super loving once he trusts you. **CURRENTLY IN A FOSTER HOME** **ADOPTION FEE SPONSORED** If you are interested in meeting with or adopting, please visit www.foothillshumanesociety.org/adopt and submit an adoption application.
